Q: 1. Hello. Will this lens (Sony Alfa mount) work with sony A7RII?

A: No. The Sony a7RII is an E mount camera and it is full frame. The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Sony Alpha is a Sony/Minolta (A mount) lens and designed for cropped sensor cameras.

Q: 2. Is this a good portrait lens? I mainly shoot newborns

A: Hi RachaelFirst off, this is an extremely good lens, I have had fantastic shots, low light levels, night, Bokeh effects, etc. It is NOT for a full frame camera. It is also wide angle and you would have to be close for baby photography. I would recommend you check distance you would like to shoot from and deicide if that works for you. The 35mm translates to roughly 50mm on the old 35mm cameras. Hope this information helps.

Q: 3. will this lens Autofocus fast on the nex7 using the LA_EA 2?

A: Yes, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 will focus with TTL on the NEX7 with the use of the LAEA2 adapter.

Q: 4. This lens is compatible fora Sony alpha A-200 ?

Q: 5. Will the EF mount work with my Black Magic Pocket Cinema 4k? cheers

A: Without an adapter, no. You would need to purchase an EF to MTF adapter.

Q: 6. Does the barrel extend when zooming, or is it an internal zoom?

A: Internal

Q: 7. what is the mm range equivalent on a gh4 with metabones speedbooster?

A: When shooting 1080p video or stills with the GH4 and 18-35mm f/1.8 Sigma lens with the Metabones Speed Booster, the 35mm equivalent focal length of the Sigma lens with the Speed Booster would be 25.6-50mm. With 4K (as there is a larger crop factor), the 35mm equivalent focal length would be roughly 29-57mm.

Q: 8. Does this lens have OIS (optical image stabilization)? Doesn't seem so.

A: It does not, but it's a wide zoom and even for video (hand held) I had no problem due to the lack of an OIS.

[0.085 lb] I've had it 2 weeks and shot a few sporting events, swapping to it 6 or 7 times. The subject has such dimension if you can get close enough. Team huddles have a great look compared to a lens that flattens it out. Shot numerous waist up shots at f/2, blowing out the background nicely. Slight vignetting at 1.8 and f2. Easily correctable. Sharp images if you are judicious with your focus point. Group shots are a breeze. I was shocked at f2 i was shooting at 320 iso in a dark gym. Easily took the best group shot of the year first time out. As compared to the pancake 24mm ef-s. I hope to use it under the basket for basketball games and maybe along the sidelines in soccer/lacrosse. Show some of the environment. And from an indoor photojournalism perspective, Its going to make my life easier. Being able to throw noisy backgrounds out of focus, and not to mention that it focuses extremely close to the lens, countless artistic applications. All in all its quite a lens. For my purposes a fantastic change up for my 70-200 f2.8 L and my 150-600 Sigma C (with 7D mkii) And maybe I'll be able to take an interesting landscape picture for a change. Or step up my astro photography game! Get this lens if you'll be on a crop sensor for awhile

[0.085 lb] I bought this lens to upgrade from my canon t3i kit lens. I'm a freelance filmmaker so I needed a versatile lens for run and gun shooting and that could work in any night or day scenario. This lens is perfect for that. With a 1.8 aperture I can better shoot night scenes when I'm not in control of the night, and even in day its colors and sharpness are better than my last lens. Even with my t3i I can get great footage, I can't imagine how this would look on a bettee camera and with a good lighting set up. Get this lens if you have the spare cash. I would even go as to recommend spending on this lens than a new camera. Below are some test shots with the cinemorph filter for this lens.

[0.085 lb] 1.8 zoom - blows away all my 2.8 lenses wide open - best build on the market - under 1k. Don't think and get this lens!

[0.085 lb] Words can't express how much I love this lens. The images this lens can produce makes me overlook it's weight. It's made for APS-C sensor cameras, but will definitely work on full frame cameras. With a crop factor that is. There's nothing bad I can say about this lens. If you're looking for a fast zoom lens then this one is for you!

[0.085 lb] How do prime lenses compare to this one? Let me put it this way: there are better prime lenses out there. A Canon 35mm 1.4 is far superior in quality and bokeh and color and blah blah blah. But for documentary filmmakers, this is a must have because it is the best 18mm f1.8. It is also the best 21mm f1.8. And the best 24mm 1.8, and 28mm 1.8, and 35mm 1.8. You get the picture. 1.8 is usually reserved for prime lenses alone. In this zoom, you have all of these primes at your fingertips. And it is better than all those other 1.8 primes out there. Absolutely stunning in low light. Extremely sharp. Requires precision. This is not a 24-105 f4 where everything is kind of in focus, but also not. This lens can be VERY sharp. But you have to make it that way. The color accuracy is great, and it goes great with the 50-100mm f1.8. Those are the only two lenses I use now.

[0.085 lb] I bought this lens shortly before a family event to use with my GH4 and I was blown away by the images. I'm an aspiring photographer/videographer and I feel like a pro with this lens. Images are sharp and colors look gorgeous. As a videographer using a rig with a follow focus, it was nice that I can zoom in or out without changing the length of the lens so I don't need to move the follow focus. Can't say enough great things about it!

[0.085 lb] I've used this lens numerous times in the past, borrowing from friends or other photographers and have wanted to get one for myself for quite some time. Glad I finally did!
As expected from Sigma, the pictures come out super crisp and sharp. Focus control and zoom are very smooth and easy to use. The only con I've found with this lens so far is that the auto focus motor is a little slow and noise, but not a huge deal if you shoot manual stills. Definitely makes me want to buy more from Sigma.

[0.085 lb] Okay this lens is pretty heavy. But the quality of the photos are amazing. I initially thought that quality wouldn't be as good but my expectations were exceeded. I was using a 50mm Nikon 1.8 before, but I like the 18-35 range a lot more because I can get closer to my subjects. So far so good, few auto focusing issues (misses on occasion) but I use the manual mode on this lens more since it makes it easier for me. The build quality of the lens is also amazing. I've been using it on a Nikon D5500 so this set up will suffice me until I decide to go full frame. I may even get the 50-100mm sigma lens as well.

[0.085 lb] Lens is mounted to a Canon R50. AF is snappy, and the lens is made of high quality materials.
