Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. when this controller is used to control more than 9 channels..we need to go to the next bank of faders and after returning to first bank (1-9) previous values of software mixer faders jumped to the new settings when we try to move sliders of nano kontrol?

A: Because the faders are not automated, they will remain in the same physical position when you jump from one bank to another. However the levels on each bank will not change when you shift banks. The levels on the next set of banks will ONLY begin to change if you begin touching the faders.

Q: 2. Can the knobs control gain on a mixpre 10?

A: Yes, but the MixPre must have the required firmware update. The Sound Devices v3.00 firmware update for the MixPre-3, -3M, -6, -6M, -10M, and -10T provides support for third-party USB control surfaces such as the Korg nanoKONTROL Studio and nanoKONTROL2, Akai MIDImix, and Novation Launch Control XL. This update enables connection of these control surfaces to the MixPre to control trim (gain), faders, pan, low cut, reverb, record, stop, and more.

Q: 3. Could this be configured to control software such as lightroom or premiere pro?

A: This is feedback from users of this product. As long as you do not install the Korg MIDI USB drivers, it has the potential to be mapped to different DAWs. However with that being said, Korg as a manufacturer does not guarantee this controller to work with anything that does not support their drivers.

Q: 4. How is the MIDI interface? are all the nobs working and effecting the different sounds?

A: It is not a MIDI interface. The nobs do work and in fact effect the sound.

Q: 5. Do the dials have detents/clicks? I would like a controller that has about 10 clicks per full turn.

A: No

Q: 6. Is the output stereo or mono?

A: The output jack is a 1/4" TS connector which sends a mono signal and uses a standard instrument cable.

Q: 7. Can the unit be powered thru the USB in lieu of optional power supply or batteries?

A: The Korg Monologue is not able to be bus powered via USB. The unit requires 9VDC which can be supplied via optional AC power supply or 6 AA batteries only.

Q: 8. Do the batteries charge while unit is connected via usb?

A: No, the nanoKONTROL Studio uses two standard AAA batteries. You can use rechargeable batteries but you will need to remove the batteries to charge them using a separate battery charger. USB cannot be used to charge batteries while they are inside the unit. However, USB can be used to power the nanoKONTROL Studio instead of using batteries.

Q: 9. Is this unit comparable to the Korg MC-1?

A: The nanoKontrol Studio offers similar functionality to the encoders on the MC-1, however is tailored more toward DAW program control with transport control and dedicated mute, solo and record arm buttons.

Q: 10. What is the latency/delay for Bluetooth to an iPhone? How many milliseconds?

A: At this time, the latency measurement is not specified by the manufacturer.

[VST] Is a good synthesizer for a beginner. It comes with lots of presets and is easy to operate. Makes goo bass, leads and it arpegiates. It automatically syncs to any beat. Great synth I would recommend.

[VST] This synthesizer has a marvelous filter compared to its price. Low ends with resonance are quite clear. I can achieve many different sounds with this according to my taste. It has some wave type limitations of course, but that’s reasonable for the price tag. If I was to have three hundred bucks and decide again, I would definitely choose Monologue.

[Synthesizer] As someone who grew up with analog synths I love the layout. The digital assisted layer makes it a dream to use. Plus the physical design is just beautiful even if you're just using it as a MIDI controller.

[VST] Been waiting for so long to get my hands on one of these! Ever since I opened the box I've been in love. For the price point you can't beat it. I've been using the Korg R3 for about 5 years and a Roland SH-32 for about a year, this is a perfect addition to my setup! If you're in the market for an analog synth.. BUY THIS ONE!

[VST] I'm an electronic musician and I LOVE my Monologue! It screams, it bellows, it whispers, it grunts, it can be pretty, it can be quite ugly...well, you get the picture. There's nothing on the market quite like it! Value For Money - off the charts! Build Quality - solid Did I mention that there's nothing on the market quite like it?

[VST] The Korg Monologue is a fantastic and fun two oscillator fully analog monosynth with selectable ring mod or sync on oscillator two. It lends itself naturally to bass tones and produces them well and with ease. Programming is fluid as almost every parameter has a knob or switch with an intuitive menu accessible through the sequencer buttons for things like tempo syncing the LFO, keytracking the filter, setting velocity control of filter and/or amplitude, assigning the bender, and naming patches. The sequencer is fun to use as well. I never recorded in real time, opting instead to step sequence, which acts as you would expect if you have used other step sequencers. I think it's a little odd that Korg opted for a 100 patch limit instead of a standard 128 but that's more of an observation than a complaint. I did not find many uses for the drive as I found it too aggressive & harsh in most applications but I don't take off pints for this. The LFO is very expressive and can even go up to audio rate in the fast setting, allowing for analog-FM style tones when assigned to any destination. Although this synth does not have full sized keys, they are not as small as say a microKORG or many controllers. They feel pretty natural to play and I wasn't hitting extra keys while using them. I would say this is an excellent first synth for anyone attempting to learn synthesis. However, even an experienced user as myself can find uses for the sound of this synth with its pure analog signal path and excellent sounding filter.
