This 25-sheet pack of 8.5 x 11" Galerie Gold Fibre Gloss from Ilford features a wide color gamut and a baryta (barium sulphate) layer with a tradtional photo fiber base. The paper is designed for pigment and dye-based ink systems and imitates the look of traditional silver halide photo paper. The paper's 310 gsm weight provides a heavy, professional quality medium. The nanoporous instant dry surface provides maximum ink absorption and allows for worry-free paper handling right out of the printer. The paper can be used for both black and white and color prints and provides the ability to imitate chemically toned sepia, gold, selenium & blue images. Additionally, it does not use optical brightening agents for maximum longevity and an opacity of >98%.

A: The Ilford GALERIE Gold Raster Silk Paper has the same surface and thickness as the Ilford GALERIE Prestige Gold Mono Silk Paper so it would be the nearest replacement.

Q: 3. How many pounds is this paper? Do you think it will go through the Canon Pixma Pro9000 mark ii?

A: This paper is 13mil or 310 gsm. It is within the thickness tolerance for the p9000 II.

Q: 4. How does this surface compare with the now discontinued Gold Fibre Silk?

A: Its essentially just an updated version.

Q: 5. In anticipation of receiving this paper (I just ordered it), I went to Ilford's website to download the icc profile for my Canon ipf6400 printer (the description says "The paper is compatible with both dye and pigment based ink systems..." When I select the paper on Ilford's website and put in my printer and this paper combination there's no profile associated for this printer / paper combo. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

A: They may not have made a profile for the Canon IPF6400 printer. So in that case I would suggest using the closest Canon option. Canon Premium Fine Art Smooth.

Q: 6. Does this paper work OK in the P900 top loader or is it necessary to front load?

A: The Epson Legacy Fibre Paper (17 x 22", 25 Sheets), B&H # EPLEFR1722, can fit on either paper loader.

A: Yes. The Ilford GALERIE Gold Fibre Gloss Paper (5 x 7", 50 Sheets) is compatible with the Epson R3000 printer.

[Glossy] I have just tried my first box of this baryta paper, and printed the whole box on a current portrait sitting. It could quite easily become my favorite paper. All cotton heavy base with no brighteners and a semiglossy surface that really does a good job of hiding bronzing and gloss differential. My previous favorites are Ilford's 'silk' baryta and Han's Photo Silk Baryta. 5

[310 gsm] For many years I used Ilford fiber base Galerie F-surface graded paper in the darkroom. I am now happily printing on something very much like it again with my Canon Pro 10 printer. Perfect. 5

[310 gsm] I haven't printed on glossy in ages. I've really been enjoying this paper. Has a nice sheen to it. Mostly been using this for snapshots. Makes lovely black and whites. And I've been happy with color rendering. ICC profile can be downloaded from Ilford website, and it seems to be pretty good. 5

[1.47 lb] This is a very nice paper that is a pleasure to use with the Epson P9570. As I mentioned in the headline, blacks print wonderfully on this paper using the black enhance overcoat. The sharpness is remarkable as well. There is a slight texture to the surface which is ok... I might take a half star off the rating if I could. 5

[310 gsm] I've tried so many other papers, but keep coming back for this. I've worked with Epson and Canon Printers. This paper has the weight, finish even the SMELL of Kodak Kodabromide F Doubleweight (Ilford had a version also) darkroom paper. I see they changed the box, and offer it it a gloss finish. I hope the box is all that's changed, and it comes into stock again soon. 5

[310 gsm] I was forced into the gold fiber gloss, having used gold fiber silk and really liking the paper. Unfortunately the silk was discontinued. so I bought the gloss and have been very pleasantly surprised. Excellent color reproduction. this paper has the closest rendition of my digital files in both color and black and white. The surface reminds me of a traditional glossy photo paper that has been air dried and not fereotyped. the gold fiber gloss is a beautiful paper that gives excellent results a go to paper for fine art beautiful images. 5

[310 gsm] After Fibre Gold Silk was no longer available I decided to try the gloss. This paper has beautiful black and white tones and a very nice surface. Just may become my favorite paper. 5
