A: I've just read three "No" answers to the question, "Can you print double sided on this paper?" But the paper in question is Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Book & Album paper (Short Grain, 8.5 x 11"), which is clearly described as "Double-Sided" and that means both sides can be printed. And to my personal knowledge it can be printed on both sides. That's why it's a good "Book" paper. The answer to the question is "Yes".

Q: 3. How does this surface compare with the now discontinued Gold Fibre Silk?

A: Its essentially just an updated version.

Q: 4. Is this paper double sided?

A: No this paper is single sided.

Q: 5. Can someone who has printed extensively on Gold Fibre Silk describe any differences between that and this new Gold Fibre Gloss paper other than the heavier weight? Is paper base around the same level of white? Is the surface any different looking/feeling?

A: Both papers are about the same level of white. The only difference is the thickness.

Q: 6. OK with pigment inks?

A: Yes. My printer uses pigment inks.

Q: 7. Can I use this paper with an Epson R3000 printer? Seems to be too thick. Thanks.

Q: 8. Hi, what media type should i use with an epson p600 printer?. the icc profile says eam media type, but i dont know what it means. The ilford website did not answer my question, this is why i am asking here. Thanks.

A: This has a 3 inch core.

Q: 10. Does this paper incorporate optical brighteners?

A: Manufacturer doesn't specify. What it sounds like, although it's acid-free it does have some brighteners for color stability.

[310 gsm] I have a exhibition coming soon and have been showcasing my images on Gold Fibre Silk to critical reviewers and I must say that the paper shows extremely well. It has nice weight and reproduces black and white really well. 5

[Cotton Rag] I had been using the Ilford Galerie Prestige Smooth Pearl to print my pictures previous to discovering this. Having accumulated printing experience, I then opted for a more luxurious and thicker stock. I had tried products from Canson and Hahnemuhle but they didn't give me as good results as the Ilford papers. So I returned to the Ilford brand, and this is along with the Gold Fibre Silk are now my choices for when I need matte and lustre surfaces, respectively, to print with 5

[Single] I use a Pixma Pro 100 & I have never used fine art paper that gives my such a distinct watercolor look. It is unbelievable. 5

[1.485 lb] Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk has been my go-to paper for both black and white and color pigment prints, when I want a semi-gloss finish. Its long tonal range and good separation in highlights and shadows won my heart after I tested it against about a zillion other papers. However, Ilford has regrettably discontinued it, and it's becoming quite difficult to get. They have replaced it with Gold Fibre Gloss, which, despite its name also has a semi-gloss finish, and almost the same tonal response, but without optical brighteners, the whites are supressed just a little bit--enough to make me and a lot of other users search for an alternative (Canson Photographique II, which also seems to be unavailable at this time). It's a tough moment for semi-gloss users! This made me re-discover my love for matte papers, like the Moab Entrada Rag Bright 300. 5
