[Proprietary] The challenge:
Set up super-quickly, set my talent off the busy background, set a color temperature to flatter in mixed natural light, and set my shot apart so it looks like Great Television and not Lousy Video?

The solution:
Flapjack! Lightweight to hang on a long boom. Continuously variable tint and intensity. Nicely diffuse without any add-ons. Angles quickly for perfect throw. Takes a battery but sips slowly at it. Comes in its own case with intuitive built-in organizer for an idiot-proof strike. [I'm the idiot.] This thing is PERFECT.

[30 W ] Between our three griptrucks we have no less than 12 of these lights. Color rendering on Flapjack is quite good and to my eyeballs largely match Arri L-series, Skypanel and DMG Lumiere. Flapjack is also robustly built. 2 of our first gen Flapjacks have lost a section of ribbon and are now worklights. The newer version of Flapjack, however, is solid and reliable.

[Proprietary] GVM is a brand I trust but some of their less expensive products can be a hit or miss. I saw this in the DealZone and happened to be in the market for a light exactly like this. Decided to go ahead and grab one and I was not disappointed. Really happy with it so far!

[30 W ] Great for on the go interviews where you don't want or need to set up elaborate lighting. Just plug it in or use the batteries, turn it on, adjust your settings. Nothing else you can really do which is good if you just want to get to shooting. Just don't expect to modify the light and use as is. Its not a one size fits all light.

If you find yourself in tight spaces and need a soft light to get the job done, nothing else is like it. Perfect light for small offices spaces. I have yet to use it for web camera purposes, but I would image this could clamp onto a desk in some fashion and be a wonderful light for that. It does weight enough to be mindful of how you clamp it. Do it right, do it safe.

As far as power of the lights go, they are adequate. Don't expect to overpower the sun, but more then enough for indoor use. Don't expect to put these lights far away from your talent though. They do run on batteries. Don't expect that kind of power.

[Yes] I got this primarily for light painting, but so far I've only used it for video conferencing. Nice diffused light with excellent control of color and intensity. The packaging is also excellent-- the light comes in a solid case with all you need.

[Proprietary] I needed a soft, flattering, even light for a multi-city headshot tour of 8 offices, 13 days of shooting, across the country for a major financial firm. These lights delivered. While larger than I'm used to traveling with, the extra weight was worth it. Durable. I am not easy on equipment, these shrugged off my carelessness. Results for the portraits? Post production consisted of a little cropping. No hot spots, even on shiny skin types. Even color temp, even "duration " of light- they were consistent, which is what I needed. I paired them with two smaller LED back lights/ hair lights, results were exquisite. Best LEDs I've used to date, and I've used A LOT of LEDs across multiple brands, ranging from pro level to cheap "need an extra light" consumer level.

[Proprietary] Throw a FlapJack on their head! does not, at first, sound like the civilized way to treat attractive talent. But this cool little disc makes the perfect hair and shoulders kiss. It's polite and diffuse, yet targeted. Its light weight lets it be flown in on an arm with ease. You can also use the FlapJack as a color tune-able kicker to wash out spill from a chromakey background. Makes for a much cleaner key in video post. Separately, I recently used 2 FlapJacks as cross-keys on a film shoot that was otherwise lit only by candlelight. Lovely light!
