[2.005 lb] Seems to work fine and makes it much easier to Color Correct for the money.

[2.005 lb] I'm pretty impressed. It's great for portability, and obviously, they're working more programs with it. So far, I've used it in Resolve 12.5, Premiere CC (Lumetri) it can work with just about any Grading software using the Tangent mapper software. I hope they keep growing this product. I tried it in SpeedGrade. It works great. Haven't tried it in After Effects, not sure that it can be mapped in that one. Still, for $350, it's a deal! You don't create an inexpensive product for just a few sells. I think they're going to sell a lot by opening up compatibility. That having been said, the A button has no function in Resolve. Sounds like a fast deadline at Tangent. Also, you've probably read this before: the trackerballs will fall out if the component is inverted. Do not invert the component! One more thing; kudos to B&H for making this available before everyone else. They're speedy boys.

[USB] Ripple is much better than Oxygentek. I have Tangent element and Oxygentek. Touch of ripple balls is very similar to Tangent element. Awesome! oxygentek Wheels are better than ripple, but I think balls are more important. Price is very good!

[USB] The Ripple trackerballs look and feel great, which would honestly be enough at this price. Great solution for editors and occasional colorists to more easily interact with your grading software, as long as it supports the Ripple. Tangent has Ripple user manual and very complete setup guides online for both Resolve and Premiere (so far): www.tangentwave.co.uk/support.asp I'm using it with Resolve 12.5 Studio. In Resolve you need to install the Tangent Hub software currently, and then run Resolve with Tangent Element selected as the color panel. This Element emulation mode seems fine so far, with one exception: the buttons aren't reprogrammable with Resolve (yet), also Button A on the panel doesn't function at all within Resolve (yet). However button B is used for Bypass the grade (logically enough), which is the first thing you need anyway. If you need more hardware buttons than that it looks like adding an Xkeys might be the best bet for now. No doubt Blackmagic will add Ripple panel selection in a later version, but emulation is good for now. Sensitivity is fully adjustable within software for both Premiere and Resolve for both the wheels and the balls. Out of the box the trackerball sensitivity felt perfect to me in Resolve and the dials felt a bit too sensitive. I'm going to turn those up and try it again. I'm guessing you would want to set that based on how far off the luminence of the original material is from where it's going to go. One warning: don't put the balls in and then turn it upside down to look at the label, the balls will just fall out. At least cleaning them and their sockets is easy, but gravity is a necessary factor here. It comes with two nice drawstring bags for dust protection, one for the unit and a smaller one for the balls. It will all fit (barely) in the big bag. Seems to me even colorists that already have a panel might want to look at this for remote location work, especially for quick dailies and such.

[USB] I was trying to decide whether to buy this one or the Tangent Element module that costs $1100, but decided the Ripple will be just fine. I'm so happy with my choice because the smaller size fits perfect on my desk and I spent the extra money to get the Tangent Element Kb input. Using both of these with C1 completely changes the way that I work with C1 making it much more tactile and intuitive. Color balancing with the Ripple is so much better than trying to do the same with a mouse. Anyone working with C1 in a studio or on a regular basis should have these Tangent input devices. It will allow you to focus on your images and not even think about the program. Highly recommended!!!

[2.005 lb] For $330, no, you will not get a carbon fiber gold-plated device with hundreds of programmable buttons, small form factor, and exceptional build quality. That's not going to happen.

But you can get the Tangent Ripple, a practically designed, small form-factor, with the professional tools to take your color grading to the next level. You can adjust the sensitivity of the track balls using a useful app that you can download after your purchase. You can make multiple grade changes simultaneously. And, even though it's plastic, it is aesthetically pleasing to look at, which counts for something in my opinion.

I'm an amateur color grader who has done work for the last 5 years using only a mouse. But I have an interest in improving and learning new things. After only a brief period of time with the Tangent Ripple, I realize this was the perfect choice. A low-priced way to drastically improve the speed and quality of my grades. If I enjoy it enough, maybe I'll upgrade to one of the 1k control surfaces. Right now, I don't know if I'm interested enough in grading to make that investment.

This device is perfect for those who want to get a taste of what professional grading is, without having to drop thousands of dollars on a fancier control surfaces. It's perfectly functional, if a little limited with the programmable buttons. But hey, it works well, interfaces with all of the major editing and grading applications. If you want to learn more about grading, don't hesitate: go for it.

[USB] On the outset, it looked a little small. I used this to some advantage, however. With one hand, I can span two trackerballs comfortably. The controls are tight, which I prefer over wimpier controls on , well, other control surfaces. You can get the Ripple working on one hand if you're inclined to use a mouse or Wacom with the other hand. Although some may disagree, the whole reason for the control surface is to do several things at once, so I can easily move my way through the interface to get very quick rough results. I nicknamed mine Fallout Boy because if you turn the base over, the trackerballs will roll out of it. Just be careful not to let them fall. The base itself is pretty hefty for size. The surrounding area near the trackers feels responsive, a little tight, which is the way I like to work. I mostly use my left hand on the interface, and the right hand assists and operates other functions. If they had just put light plastic inside, I think it might have been a bit disappointing. Equipment should feel professional, i.e., HEAVY. It's really easy to memorize with the muscle memory in your hands. I've never had a problem finding a setting or control on this simple small interface. Speaking of small, the Ripple comes with two velour bags- one for base, one for trackerballs. You can pack it and grab your laptop and get on the plane. Really simple. Tangent took the controls that matter most and mapped them on the ripple. You have RGB trackers and rotary dials for levels of each. You also have a reset button for tracker reset and also one for each rotary reset. The B button is to toggle on and off the grade. Then there's the mysterious A button. I have heard it will control something in particular, but the Tangent people have not figured out what that will be. Interesting. Right now, the system integrates with Speedgrade, Premiere Pro, daVinci Resolve. Assimilate & Nucoda are coming soon. Great Price!
