Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. it's come Empty or Filled with Sunflower Seeds?

A: It comes empty. We filled with plastic chips we bought at Hobby Lobby. Took quite a few bags. Kinda expensive but they won't mold or grow anything. ( you could look for larger bags online or eBay )

Q: 2. Has anyone tried the LensSack Jr. with a gimbal head? Would like to use the Jr. with a gimbal head and Nikon 600 f/4 while in Kenya.

A: According to LensCoat, you may add a gimbal to this product via the 3/8-16” mounting plate.

Q: 3. Any idea how many lbs of buckwheat hulls it would take to fill this? For example using B&H # KIR428H MFR # R428H. Thanks.

A: I bought a 5-lb bag of buckwheat hulls and ended up using approximately 4 lbs. It actually took more than I would have estimated.

Q: 4. Would this bag be oK to use with a Sigma 500 f4.5 lens?

A: I bought it to use with my Sigma 150-600 and it works great! I've used it to support lenses on the hood of my car and by slipping it over the door to shoot bald eagles using the car as a blind. I have the metal plate but have not used it yet as I just don't seem to need it. Maybe use it this spring to shoot bears in Yellowstone as it will be easier to swivel the lens. I filled mine with packing peanuts to keep it light weight for carrying along with other camera gear.

Q: 5. Can I use this bag for my Nikon 600mm f4 lens?

A: I use my Nikon 800mm no problem.

Q: 6. It looks like some of the beanbag camera supports come already filled and some don't. Does this one come filled? It doesn't state specifically, so I want to make sure. Thanks!

A: I fill mine with sunflower seed. Empty it later or anywhere for the birds. No littering.

Q: 7. How many bags of Kinesis Poly Bead Fill for SafariSack 4.2 are required to fill this beanbag?

A: Based on my calculations you will need about 2.6x Kinesis Poly Bead Fill for SafariSack 4.2 to fill LensCoat LensSack Pro Beanbag Support (Pro Realtree Max4, Empty). You can double check my calculations. The Kinesis Poly Bead Fill for SafariSack 4.2 is 4.2 liters. LensCoat LensSack Pro Beanbag Support measures 11 x 8 x 7.5" and that is 10.82 liters. 10.82/4.2=2.6

Q: 8. What is the internal volume of the lens sack?

A: If the dimensions of the beanbag are 19.5 x 11.5 inches (49.5 x 29.2 cm), then the overall volume is 224.25 cubic inches (1445.4 cubic centimeters). That converts to about 1.0 US gallon, specifically 0.971 gallon (3.675 liters). Anything more accurate than that could be provided by the manufacturer.

Q: 9. I'd like to use buckwheat hulls to fill this. How much do I need to purchase?

A: When using the LensCoat LensSack Pro Jr Beanbag Support it is good to use a little less than 6 lbs of "buckwheat hulls"

Q: 10. What about sewing quality and quality of materials? Does sewing damage with time?

A: We cannot say how long this will last as there are way too many variables on how one uses it. But LensCoat makes a good product and is a good company.

[Zipper] I am using the Junior size bean bag with a Sigma 50-500 and it works well. Great for the top of fence posts and rails. I filled it with sunflower seeds and that makes a perfect filler for weight and stability. The non slip bottom is excellent. It holds the long lens very steady. Don't go any where without it.

[Cordura] This product is sturdy, well designed & well built. I stuffed 2 zip-loc bags with plastic pellets into each side of this beanbag. I use it all the time, even when my camera is just on a shelf or table. It is long enough to support a body + a long lens. Keeps the camera from rolling over if it is belted down.

[Cordura] Wonderful item. I find it very useful when shooting from my vehicle, from the ground or setting up on a rock. Recommend filling with birdseed so when you are through, you can empty the contents without hurting the wildlife or environment.
