Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this bag for my Nikon 600mm f4 lens?

A: I use my Nikon 800mm no problem.

Q: 2. Would this bag be oK to use with a Sigma 500 f4.5 lens?

A: I bought it to use with my Sigma 150-600 and it works great! I've used it to support lenses on the hood of my car and by slipping it over the door to shoot bald eagles using the car as a blind. I have the metal plate but have not used it yet as I just don't seem to need it. Maybe use it this spring to shoot bears in Yellowstone as it will be easier to swivel the lens. I filled mine with packing peanuts to keep it light weight for carrying along with other camera gear.

Q: 3. Can you use this while sitting in your car, shooting out the window? Will it mold to the door frame inside and out?

A: Yes this would be perfect for using over a car door or partly open window or throwing over a branch. The LensCoat LensSack Junior Beanbag Camera Support will take the shape of just about anything you lay it on.

Q: 4. does this bag good enough to support 400-600mm tele lenses ?

A: Absolutely. I use it with a canon 600 f4l is and 1DX. Works great.

Q: 5. What is the best size LensCoat LensSack beanbag for use with a Nikon 200-500mm lens: Junior or full size?

A: I watched a video on this and the smaller bag seems to be the right size for that lens. LensCoat has the video. And Id think if youre shopping for bean bag supports, youd know this isnt a bag or case...lol

Q: 6. What do you fill camera beam bags with

A: You can use a variaty of options to fill your LensCoat LenSack Beanbag Camera Support. You can use from dry beans, rice, soil or sand.

Q: 7. How many bags of poly beads are needed?

A: The LensCoat LensSack Pro Beanbag Support measures 11 x 8 x 7.5", which is 10.82 liters. It is not an exact rectangle though; there is an opening at the bottom that will reduce the size of the bean bag. The Kinesis Poly Bead Fill for SafariSack 4.2 (B&H # KIR142) is 4.2 liters—I would recommend buying two bags.

Q: 8. What quantity of poly pellets would be good to go with this?

A: Fill to the desired level of support. The quantity may vary.

Q: 9. Thinking about using this on top of a foam apple box to stabilize a shoulder rig camera for long shots on a reality tv shoot as well as use it as a pad for sitting on the apple box, is this comfortable to sit on when filled with polybeads?

A: While comfort is subjective and may differ from person to person, the LensCoat LensSack Beanbag Camera Support (Black) would be compatible for your stated usage needs and should be relatively comfortable.

Q: 10. Has anyone tried the LensSack Jr. with a gimbal head? Would like to use the Jr. with a gimbal head and Nikon 600 f/4 while in Kenya.

A: According to LensCoat, you may add a gimbal to this product via the 3/8-16” mounting plate.

[Zipper] I filled this beanbag with 8 pounds of pinto beans and it is ready to go. Using it with my long lenses is great. Super support in the car window or when lying on the ground. Could not be better constructed. As always, B&H is great!

[1.19 lb] Used on the driver's door of a GMC Acadia. Very solid. I filled mine with rice.

[Cordura] Excellent!!! I use this on my truck window with my Nikon D500 & Nikon 200-500 f4 and Nikon 70-200 f4 lenses. It works great. I used deer corn to fill the bag. I put the corn in quart sized zip lock bags and stuffed them into the bag. Works perfect - no mess. Got this idea from a target shooting forum and do this with my shooting rest weights (I use sand for weight). Highly recommend...

[Zipper] The LensSack Pro Jr Beanbag solves all kinds of problems for me. Raising the window to get the camera to a comfortable level works well. I get sharp shots at max range without a gimbal or ball head. It's easy to handle at just 4 pounds, with Ziploc bags of birdseed. I stay safe, warm, dry and get much closer to wildlife than when I get out of the car. The junior model is a good match for my mirrorless rig.

[Zipper] Nice bag but a note on fillers. I did some research and decided to go with Buckwheat Hulls, it took almost 2lbs and I got them pretty cheap from *. Unfortunately in my opinion they are WAY TOO LIGHT to really keep the bag solid enough to not wiggle when you have a tripod head mounted on it. They might be fine for non tripod head use. Not sure what I'll try next, the manufacturer says he uses 5lbs of sunflower seeds in his. Probably good in case too want a snack while shooting.

[Zipper] My kind of photo gear- simple, reliable, useful. Well designed and constructed. Have only put it through a brief field test so far, but can already tell it will be a frequently used accessory. Expect to use it from car window, on a boat, for ground level shots, etc.- with and without a ball head attached. Filled mine with about 9 lbs. of rice which seems about right, but can adjust later if need be. I recommend it.

[Cordura] Used this on a recent safari. Found an airplane neck-rest pillow made with foam beads (weight @ 3 oz) that fit perfectly as the bean bag stuffing. this provided a solid support, was easy to move (comfortable for an armrest in the vehicle- and best of all - did not add weight to my suitcase or have me trying to find stuffing once I arrive on site.

[1.19 lb] Going to Africa in 3 months. A lot of time on safari, so I hear, you can't get out of the jeep for safety reasons. So I felt a bean bag would be better than some sort of window clamp or tripod in the vehicle. My travel tripod head mounted easily. I filled it with 3-4 lbs. of sunflower seeds all in small baggies. So it's not too heavy and is very stable. I suppose if I was using a $10,000 600mm canon that weighed over 10 lbs. I'd go with the larger LensSack. but for me this is perfect

[1.19 lb] This LensSack Pro Jr Beanbag Support(Digital Camo) is an excellent choice when photographing from a pickup truck. The window openings are wide and high enough when you are photographing with larger long lens on the camera or using a scoped riffle. This beanbag doesn't work as well in smaller trucks or cars because the window openings are not high enough. This bean bag would work well if shooting from a stationary blind. Build quality and design are very good. I have found that sunflower seeds are cheaper and lighter than most other fill materials.
