The Shure MX392BEC Microflex Boundary Microphone Bottom Exitfrom Shure MX392BEC Microflex Boundary Microphone Bottom Exitis a Microflex wired boundary microphone that is equipped with a programmable, silent membrane switch, logic inputs and outputs, and green LED indicators. It can be used in boardrooms, learning centers, houses of worship, and more.

The MX392BEC features a flat frequency response of 50 Hz to 17 kHz across the vocal range, and has a sleek, low-profile design for an inconspicuous appearance. There are LED logic-input and switch logic-output terminals, screw terminal connections, and an attached unterminated cable with a bottom-exit option available.

Finally, with a balanced, transformerless output for increased immunity to noise over long cable runs, and features like the LED on/off indicator, the MX392BEC is a suitable choice to capture audio for that special event.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. if all mic are active at a time, there could be any echo in far end?

A: Sorry, but I don't have an answer to your question. We wound up using a different microphone for our application.

Q: 2. Will the mic work with MXW1 body pack for wireless option?

A: No, the Shure MX391 Microflex Cardioid Boundary Microphone is not compatible with the Shure MXW1 Hybrid Bodypack Transmitter.

Q: 3. Any suggestions on the ideal phantom power source to use this mic with my Panasonic AG-HMC40P camera? Thank you.

A: I don't use phantom power with this mic. I plug it directly into a Zoom recorder and it picks up everything I need it to.

Q: 4. Will this mic survive water being splashed on it?

A: Shure does not rate the MX395 Microflex Low-Profile Boundary Microphone models for water resistance. This will probably withstand one or two accidents or water spills, but I would not recommend installing it in an environment where that will happen frequently. If the microphone does get wet, it would be best to wipe it dry as soon as possible. Repeated exposure to spills or splashes will damage the microphone. For conference rooms where water spills are more likely, using a hanging mic like this suspended over the table could be less likely to suffer damage from accidents: https://bhpho.to/2xVQp7s

Q: 5. does this have a mute switch?

A: It does not. It is intended to be controlled externally.

Q: 6. What is the thread on the outside of this microphone? I'm working to create a custom mount for a pair of them and would like to find suitable hardware to mount them.

A: Shure lists the thread size as 7/8"-14 UNF-2B. All relevant installation dimensions for the MX395 are provided by Shure here: http://service.shure.com/s/article/mx395-installation-dimensions?language=en_US You can find additional information in the user manual which also includes a diagram showing all measurements of the mic on page 11 (use the page numbers printed on the pages, not the pdf page numbers): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/89562.pdf

Q: 7. Would one mic cover a 6 to 8 foot wide area with 2 to 6 people sitting at a witness table? Will be mixed with 9 other board member goose neck mics, the distance between the dias and the witness table is typically ten to 15 feet giver or take.

A: The abilities of the Shure MX391 Microflex Cardioid Boundary Microphone will likely be stretched when tasked with picking up voice from 6 to 8 feet, especially if some in this scenario are quiet speakers. For the best results in this specific situation, two MX391 would be ideal.

Q: 8. According to SHURE's website, the Microflex Series come with 3 interchangeable cartridges. I don't see that in the IN THE BOX section. Does it in fact come with 3 cartridges?

A: No, the Shure MX393/S does not come with interchangeable cartridges. The MX393/S comes only with the supercardioid cartridge built into the unit.

Q: 9. I'm trying to understand what it means to provide phantom power is for the shure 391o microphone?

A: Condenser mics such as the MX391/O require voltage in order to function. Phantom Power is the voltage required and is sent to the mic through the XLR cable from the whatever source you are connected to be it a mixer of preamp.

Q: 10. How do regulate volume of mic?

A: Volume/Gain is controlled via the mixer or amplifier that the microphone is connected to.

[1.55 lb] This is astoundingly good boundary mic for $. Much more solid, heavy, and elegant (both the mic and the inline preamp unit) than I expected. Pattern and noise are just as advertised. For most conference room applications, the room noise (computers, AC, etc.) is going to be much louder than the self-noise of these mics. I will probably pick up more. This version does NOT have a mute button, BTW. B&H delivery and pricing were top notch, per usual!

[Mono] I vertically mounted this mic on a wall in a medical treatment classroom. It was to be used to hear conversation and responses by an observer in an adjoining area. I needed something unobtrusive and with enough sensitivity to provide clear audio, but without too much ambient noise. The MX391 is small, and the white color helps it to become almost invisible on the wall. Being mounted above the heads of the students and staff, the cardioid pickup pattern works great and helps to reject sound reflection from the ceiling. I had to build a TA4M extension cable in order to reach a wall mounted I/O plate, and another TA4F cable to reach the preamp, which I mounted beneath a countertop at the audio mixer in the adjoining room, but everything worked well. I've been using Shure products for many years, and they have never let me down.

[1.55 lb] Worked perfectly for focus group interviews with about 12 participants spread throughout the room. Extra long cord allows you to place mic where you need it, while small size is very unobtrusive. Would buy again.

[Black] We use two of these in a conference room with a video conferencing system. They are placed at two points on the conference table and pick up all conversations no matter which direction the participant is talking.
