[0.1 lb] This is the second adapter I've purchased to be able to attach things like a shotgun video mic or a 7" monitor to my Canon VIXIA G20/G40 camcorders. The first one I purchased was plastic and wobbled a bit when it had to hold a heaver object like my 7" A7S Lilliput monitor. This one holds rock steady with no wobble. I can lock down my gear securely with it. Sooo much better than the plastic counter part! Worth the extra $19 premium for peace of mind. 5

[0.1 lb] I've had bad luck with a competing model because (1) it did not have a forward flange to lock it in better and (2) the two horizontal flanges are plastic and one of them broke. So I'm extremely thankful this one made of steel has been invented and made available in the marketplace now. It is solid! The other brand would cause my Rode NTG2 shotgun microphone to get loose and sometimes fall off. This universal shoe mount locks in and feels like it was made with the Canon camcorder. Can't say enough good about it. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the inventors! 5

[7.4 x 5 x 0.1"] This is exactly what I needed on my HF G10 to mount the wireless mic receiver I have to the body itself. I had previously just allowed the recevier to hang by the wire from the mic input on the camera, so this was a welcome solution! Remember, it is a cold adapter, so you can't use it as an adapter for camera-powered accessories or anything that interacts with the camera through the shoe. There are other products for that. This is a cheap solution for mounting anything with a universal cold shoe fixture. It is exactly what I needed providing a sturdy mount with a clean look. 5
