[7.75 x 5 x 1.5"] I have 3 Sony FDR-AX100 4K video cameras that I use to shoot in the studio and on location. Out of the box, I can't mount any microphones or mixers on top of the camera because the proprietary Sony camera shoe is recessed in the camera. This is what you need to add an item like a Rode Video Mic Pro, or a mixer or any device that fits into a traditional camera shoe mount. It is a cold mount, meaning that it doesn't automatically turn on a light, microphone or other device directly from the camera shoe, as I guess the purpose was for creating the mount. But my Rode Video Mic Pro actually turns on automatically when the camera is turned on when it is plugged into the audio in jack on the camera. So while it is a bit pricey for a small accessory, it is definitely necessary if you want to mount anything to the camera. 5
