A: My kit came with a soft blue cloth cover that fits all the filters and folds. Easy to put in camera bag or pocket or whatever. The polarizer did come with a padded case. I did buy an extra filter carrier from B+ W for extra protection. If you are concerned I would buy an extra case. Perhaps call up and see what B H recommends.

Q: 2. will it fit my 82 mm lens?

A: It fits the 150x150 mm bracket. I use it on my Nikon 14-24 lens with a special multi-piece holder that screws around the lens. It works great and the filters are not light leak proof without it. I do not think this shield works with a normal filter holder that screws to the front of a lens because it is designed to fill the gap caused by the 14-24 lens fixed front shield.

A: Yes. My original shield got lost quickly. Just never wanted to stay in. This one seems a little more snug to stay without falling at the slightest bump

A: No difference, it is the same material.

A: the padding is adhesive glued in the case , interior thickness is about 18 mm. you can put in a adapter ring up to 77 mm , yes the padding is on top and bottom ,and it is not hinged .

Q: 6. Can this be used to hold bags instead of gels, say a tripod bag and lightstand bag? If I just wrapped it around the bags, will the velcro reach?

A: I wouldn't use this for that. There are several layers that roll into itself, so the tripod would have to be on the tiny side. There aren't any straps or a pocket it keep a tripod secure, inside the pouch. Lastly, the integrity of the fabric doesn't seem like it would be good for that much weight. Id hold out for a affordable bag designed for a tripod.

A: Sorry but I have never tried that use. Only for blocking light in photography.

A: 216RW is the standard core size. This one has a smaller 1" core. The filter is the same density and size.
