Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many C stands can be held in this bag?

A: This case can hold (3) 20-30 inch rises with detachable bases and a 20 arm/grip head.

Q: 2. Can this stand break down or does the boom detach?

A: The boom arm of the Manfrotto 420B Combi Boom Stand (Black) does not detach from the stand, but it can be rotated so that it becomes part of a regular stand, with no boom arm.

Q: 3. I'm interested in using this boom to attached a Rode microphone which has a 5 or 6/8 female fitting. I need an adapter to fit the microphone to the stand and I'm unsure of which one to get? Thanks

A: Im sure if you call b&h they will be able to tell you which adapter will work best. This boom will work perfectly for your needs.

Q: 4. Can it be used as a regular light stand?

A: Yes. When the arm isn't extended and pivoted, it's a robust stand.

Q: 5. Can this be checked on airplane?

A: The PortaBrace Heavy-Duty Wheeled Case for 41" Light Stand (Black) BH #POLSTAND41 could be checked under a plane but you will need to check with your air carrier for their specific rules.

Q: 6. Hi,I am looking into buying this boom and i was wondering what wheels would you guys recommend for such? Thanks

A: The wheels recommended by Manfrotto are the 018.

Q: 7. What stand fits in this bag that can rock the LitePanels Gemini? Bag claims it can fit a stand. I would think that unit needs a full combi stand.

A: The Litepanel Gemini would need a stand that can accept a junior pin such as the Kupo Slider Stand (Black, 45.3"), B&H # KUKS106111. This stand is within the dimensions of the case. https://bhpho.to/2Kz6AdZ

Q: 8. I have the Matthews Century C+ Stand with Removable Turtle Base. How many will fit in this bag?

A: If you have the 20 versions of those stands, you would be able to fit about 3-4 of them in this case.

Q: 9. Is the top of this (boom extension) available to be sold separately?

A: What you see is what you get.

Q: 10. I'm recording martial arts instruction. At times the instructor is standing and at other times laying on the floor. It is very dynamic so it can shift quite quickly. Would you suggest using this boom stand with an NTG3?My fear is that it would sound good when the instructor is standing, but when they lay down, I lose significant volume. Any suggestions?

A: You will definitely lose sound quality when the instructor gets low. First option would be a wireless mic xmitter strapped to the instructor with the mic taped securely to his clothing. Next option would be a boom operator to move with the instructor. If none of those options are available can you shoot the instructor in sequences and reposition the mic for each shot?

[Yes] I love B&H sales as much I love good gear cases. Porta brace never lets me down and this bag is no exception. I'm able to fit 2 Intellytech LC 160's with a small LED panel, all the gear and reverse foldable light stands in this case. The wheels and handle work great.

[Signature Blue] With my existing rolling bag on the edge of falling apart (after four years of near daily use) and just slightly smaller than I wanted, I looked around for a replacement. I needed something that I could fit both my camera kit (two Fuji mirrorless bodies, four lenses) and lighting kit (two Lumedyne packs and two heads) plus their respective accessories. Everything I need on a shoot easily fits into this bag (except for stands and large light modifiers, which are in a separate stand bag). In fact, I can add a laptop, external hard drive and tethering kit as well when necessary. Its looks might not be for everyone, but functionally it is worth every penny. I've kept the old bag for the occasional event or carry-on need; for my day to day corporate projects the WPC-10R is a winner.

[15 lb] Working in the construction industry, I am always concerned about the return on my investment for the gear I purchase, that said, I was a little leery about whether this roller could handle the rigorous video shoots i perform in the field. I am happy to report that this grip bag has surpassed all expectations, especially with the wheels. I can load my sticks for camera and lighting, a pair of LED lights, small sundries bag and a 50' power cord. The best part is I can stack my SHAPE camera bag on top to reduce trips back to the truck. Highly recommend this bag.

[Yes] Great bag, feels durable. I am actually using it for my clothes, but for when I'm traveling with gear, so it matches the other stuff. What can I say, I'm a camera fashionista

[Empty] I think it's most useful to think of this bag as built around the ability to carry light-to-medium light stands.
If you usually need longer stands or accessories (my Photek Softlighter doesn't fit), you're probably going to need a bigger bag (or additional ones). But if the length works for you, you'll enjoy a really well made bag with good wheels, well designed handles (soft handles AND a pull-out handle for rolling), customizable interior, and capacious side pockets that flatten. As an apartment dweller who often needs to travel to a job by taxi, this is a Goldilocks product-- just the right size.
I don't typically use this as an "all in one" bag, but one of several for different jobs. Chief uses are transporting a 2-head Einstein monolight strobe kit (with three light-to-medium stands, accessories, umbrellas, and compact Gitzo tripod; camera usually goes separately, as do any larger light modifiers), and as a main case for a video interview set-up (a Litepanels Sola 4+, bag of grip stuff, those light stands, boom pole, power and mic cords, Chimera 4x4 folding diffusion frame, gelly roll, maybe a folding flag frame). This is the kind of bag that you pack totally full and then, on your way out the door, you can still somehow fit that important item you almost forgot.
If you have a lot of space for equipment storage and/or don't need to wheel your equipment far, then some of the larger cases may make better sense. But this fills a niche, and I looked at a lot of cases in this size range and found nothing better. Value: I bought it on discount at B&H at almost half regular price. At full price, it's not cheap, but your money pays for real quality differences. If you're giving this bag a workout, it may be worth it. If it rarely leaves the house, then maybe not.

[Zipper] I have to operate sometimes as a one man band so having a bag large enough to put audio, lighting, extension cords, a laptop, and almost everything one needs for a small to medium size shoot into one bag is a necessity so you don;t have to haul multiple bags just put everything into the WPC-20R and WHEEL it to the shoot! For those of you looking at a production case I highly recommend this case primarily for the ability to haul a lot of gear and that it's on wheels. I wish Porta Brace would have added a build in strap or handle as sometimes you can not wheel the case and will have to carry it. I have added a strap to one of the cable hooks on the case but I'm concerned that they may rip out of the bag.

[Empty] I originally bought a Smith-Victor rolling case (B&H # SMCW), but now wish I had bought this Porta Brace case first.

The PB wheels are wider apart, meaning the case is more stable than the SV case when rolling. The SV case tends to wobble from side to side (or even tip over) unless you're on a smooth surface. And the SV case has cheapo wheels that tend to break easily. The PB wheels are larger, more durable, and on steel axles. Much better.

One thing not immediately apparent from the product info is that the PB case, like the SV case, has a telescoping handle for pulling the case behind you. I think the PB handle is a bit better made, but they are both adequate.

Size-wise, the cases are close to identical.

I'm very pleased with the quality of this product.

[Signature Blue] At the end of the day, all these type of bags are limited by how much you can lift, but this is excellent quality. Expensive (probably too expensive) at full price, but much better value on sale. I'd certainly trust it in an aircraft hold as long as it wasn't too stuffed full.
