A standard, bright wide-angle prime for the Nikon F mount, the ZEISS Milvus 35mm f/2 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon Ffrom ZEISS Milvus 35mm f/2 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon Futilizes the Distagon optical design, with one anomalous partial dispersion element, to produce well-controlled imagery with reduced chromatic aberrations and distortions. A floating elements system is also used to achieve consistent performance, even sharpness, and clarity throughout the focusing range. An enhanced ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has also been applied to markedly reduce lens flare and ghosting for working in trying lighting conditions.

The manual focus design is complemented by a rubberized focus ring for fine-tuned, precise control over your focus position. Additionally, Milvus-series lenses also feature an equally aesthetic and durable frosted, anodized metal lens-barrel surface along with a weather-sealed construction to protect against dust and moisture

Wide-angle prime is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/2 aperture helps to achieve a more compact, portable form factor while also remaining versatile for use in a variety of lighting conditions.

Distagon optical concept affords high sharpness, well-corrected image quality from edge-to-edge, and very low field curvature.

One anomalous partial dispersion element is used to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased clarity and color fidelity.

ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections and provide greater contrast and color fidelity.

Floating elements system helps to maintain consistent image quality throughout the entire focusing range, from 11.8" to infinity.

Manual focus design is benefitted by focusing and depth of field scales along with hard stops at both infinity and minimum focusing positions.

Manual aperture ring has clicked indicators throughout aperture range. Using the included De-Click Tool, this ring can be mechanically 'de-clicked' for smooth, silent rotation throughout the aperture range; making it ideal for video applications.

Weather-resistant construction includes internal seals to guard against dust and moisture as well as a blue sealing ring at the lens mount to protect the lens-camera interface.

All-metal lens barrel has a frosted, anodized surface along with a rubberized focusing ring for both durability and improved tactile control.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens made in Germany?

A: The Zeiss Milvus 35mm f/2 ZE lens is made in Japan.

Q: 2. Do I need an adapter to use this on Nikon Zf? Will it work the same as the manual Voigtlander lenses?

A: To use the ZEISS Milvus 135mm f/2 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon F on the Nikon Zf Mirrorless Camera, you need the Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter, BH #NIFTZ2.

Q: 3. I bought the Zeiss Mills 35mm F/2 for use on my Nikon D850. However, I can't adjust my aperture or speed or ISO. What's wrong?

A: To use the ZEISS Milvus 35mm f/2 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon F on a D850, you will need to set the aperture to f/22 on the lens. Then, you may adjust the camera.

Q: 4. Does this lens have an aperture ring? With all these product images, there is not a single picture that shows apertures

A: No, you control the aperture through the camera body.

Q: 5. Hi, I have nikkor 24-70 f2.8 and I am wondering if there is a clear and basic difference between this lens and my nikkor for upgrading

A: There is not a straight forward answer on this one. You are comparing a zoom work horse with autofocus to a fixed 35 with a stop of light gain and manual focus. You have to really enjoy manual focus to love this lens. But as far as images, they have a unique look that can only be seen/ experienced. When i first got it I agonized over samples and pixel peeped to try and justify it's price. At pixel level this image will not blow you away, however when you look at the overall image (combinantion of sharpness, color, contrast, bokeh) it's amazing. The bokeh is the best I have seen of any 35, it just looks natural. and you can put people at the edges and shoot wide open knowing they will be sharp and not distorted. Really a great lens that I love shooting with once i looked at the images and not the pixels.

Q: 6. I have a Canon 6D, I know there is the EF mount version of the milvus, but I really like the manual aperture nikon mount offers for this lens. If a buy an adapter nikon to EF canon, would the image be affected (In a negative way)? Or it is best going safe with the EF mount version but not having the manual aperture feature? Hope somebody can help, thanks.

A: I adapt Nikon mount lenses to EF mounts all the time without issues. It will not effect image quality at all. I do suggest buying good adapters though so there's no play in the lens mounts.

Q: 7. Aperture

A: The ZEISS Milvus 35mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF has an aperture range of f/2 - f/22.

Q: 8. Any difference between this newly released one and previous one? Is the lens designed again

A: The ZEISS Milvus 2/135 ZE shares the same optical design as the 'classic' version of the lens, with additional improvements in the anti-reflective coatings, a weather sealed barrel and a focus ring that does not telescope, allowing for use with a follow focus gear when using the lens for motion capture.

Q: 9. Is it only manual and auto

A: The Zeiss Milvus 35mm f/2 ZE lens is a manual-focus only lens, but its aperture can be electronically set, either manually (M, Av) or automatically (Tv, P, Auto).

Q: 10. Is this lens fully compatible with Nikon FE? (will it allow using it in A mode)

A: Using this lens in full manual mode on the Nikon FE would not be a problem. However, it may not work in Auto mode.

[0.19x] A very nice compact lens. Very sharp, a nice long throw making focusing easy and accurate. Build quality is really beyond compare as is the norm from Zeiss. I see no reason to ever own another 35mm prime. Also own the Milvus 21mm and the 50mm/f2M, both fantastic lenses. Once you've spent some time shooting with a Zeiss the rest of your lenses may start gathering dust.

[Full-Frame] I needed a 35mm lens in my bag for mostly grab shots and some landscape. I am using this manual focus lens on my D850 and the sharpness and micro-contrast are incredible. I have retired my older 24-70mm non-VR zoom lens and will be adding other Zeiss primes. By holding the lens underneath near the lens cap I am able to handhold this shooting the D850. The CA is there, but it is not severe and easily correctable in LR. The range finder on the D850 is very good and I have found that by focusing just to the right of the left arrow (in front) as the circle appears is the sharpest focus. For my first Zeiss lens I am very happy and will be adding more as $$ permits. I will say the focus peaking feature of the D850 works well in Live View and I also have found that you can rack this lens to infinity and be safe it is in focus due to the hard stop at infinity on the Zeiss. I am hoping the Nikon Z7 will be just as compatible with the Zeiss ZF.2 lenses.

[f/2] I was going to buy the Canon 35mm lens, but am happy I opted for this instead. Quality is excellent. Yes, heavier than most, but it hasn't been a huge issue and I've gone on several hikes with it, carrying it, etc. No problems with camera shake or focus issues (which I have had with Canon lenses). I tested my ability to hand hold down to 1/15 and was able to do it (never with the Canon lens). The manual focus is not a problem ... as another reviewer suggested, I use the focus assist (green light in the viewfinder). The resulting photos are stunning and I've eliminated a lot of issues I was having with Canon lenses, which frees me up to focus on more important things, like getting the shot. I'm probably going to trade up my Canon 50mm lens for the Zeiss eventually. Other things: background blur is nice, chromatic aberration is definitely a thing under certain conditions, if you want a light-weight lens, then reconsider. But, this lens has brought my confidence in my photographic ability back (because I was having so many performance issues with the Canon lenses I was doubting myself). Glad I bought this and would recommend it.

[f/22] Build quality is outstanding! Great results if used properly. I found it hard to use on a most crowded and noisy place since I rely on my cameras focus sound as I can?t hear it when it hit the focus so you have to look at the light it get the focus. It?s a little challenging to use in a noisy place at least for me. But the color and sharpness the photo it produces is amazing! I have the lens for 6 months now and I love it! Although it?s not my general lens to use but surely I?m keeping it for years to come

[35mm] Most people are concerned with sharpness. I have never had a 35mm prime that's sharper wide open at f/2. When mounted on a 60mp sensor camera this Milvus delivers the same amazing resolution at f/1.4 as my $6K Leica Summilux FLE. The trade-off in this case is probably weight, it is quite heavy/bulky for a f/2 35mm prime. Perhaps this lens phenomenal performance helps explain the absence of Zeiss Otus 35mm - there's simply no need, no room for improvement over this Milvus. Frankly, for roughly a thousand dollars this lens is a bargain, if you don't mind the weight.

[Manual Focus] I LOVED THIS LENS SINCE THE MOMENT I TOOK IT OUT OF THE BOX. THE CONSTRUCTION IS GREAT AS EXPECTED FROM ZEISS. NO AUTO FOCUS MAY BOTHER SOME PEOPLE BUT, IF YOU GET USED TO IT, YOU WILL END UP ENJOYING IT. SHARPNESS IS AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN ANY OTHER LENS OUT THERE IN THE MARKET. BUT WHERE THIS LENS COMES AHEAD OF ANY LENS OF THE SAME PRICE OR EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE ONES IS: IT'S UNIQUE RENDITION OF COLOR, HERE THERE IS NO EQUAL. BEAUTIFUL LENS. I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT.

[58 mm (Front)] The feel in hand, richness of colour, and subject isolation make this lens one or my favourites. I can't believe the price of this product versus the other options I've tried (including the Nikon 28mm f1.4). Yes, the manual focus is a hassle, but the results can be oh, so enjoyable!
