Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What ISO is this paper? I am using it in a pinhole camera with students and want to help them figure out exposure times.

A: Paper and film ISO speed work in different ways. As an approximation use a film ISO speed of 3-6 for papers but this may vary with the product and types of exposure. You may need to find your optimum value through trial and error.

Q: 2. Would this film fit in the 2x3 back of the Mamiya Super 23?

A: Yes! The Super 23's Type "A" film holder will take 2.25" x 3.25". The Type "J" holders take 2.5" x 3.5" though, so make sure of what you have!

Q: 3. What is the expiration date of this film ?

A: As of 2/1/2024 the Arista EDU Ultra 400 Black and White Negative Film (4 x 5", 50 Sheets) expiration date is 8/2026, This is subject to change.

Q: 4. where is the reciprocity data for this film?

A: The manufacture does not list the reciprocity on the Arista EDU Ultra 400 Black and White Negative Film (4 x 5", 50 Sheets). But a customer says he has for exposures longer than 1 second, he raises the exposure in seconds to the power 1.28. Bit best is to to a lot of experimenting on that.

Q: 5. how many exposures do i get out of one roll of this film?

A: Having used this film for a while now, I'm happy with it...however, the number of exposures per roll depends on your camera. The most popular negative size is 6x6cm, or 60mm square. In which case, you will get 12 frames per roll. Next is 6x4.5cm (also known as 645 where the frame is higher than it is wide, in which case you will get 16. Then, there's 6x9cm, where you will get 8 exposures per roll. This applies to ALL 120 film. If your camera is equipped to use 220 film, you will get twice the number of exposures per roll, although the film is still about 62mm wide, it is twice the length, around 6 feet. Hope this answers your question!

Q: 6. where is it made?

A: According to the information in our system, provided to us by MultiTone, this paper is made in China.

Q: 7. What is the ISO or ASA speed (sensitivity) rating of this paper?

A: The approximate ASA (ISO) speed of Arista EDU Ultra VC RC Paper is 12 ASA.

Q: 8. What fixer is recommended to be used with this film? Will TF4 work good with it?

A: I use Kodak fixer or Kodafix...I always use a hardening fixer after too many scratched negatives using rapid fixers (I mean geez, it only adds a minute to the film processing time, so rapid fixer isn't that rapid IMO)

Q: 9. Does this work in normal paper developers?

A: Yes, this paper is compatible with normal D-76 black and white paper developers.

Q: 10. Where can I find processing information for this film?

A: This is made to be processed in any standard developer. Follow the developer instructions.

[Resin Coated] This paper has an amazing fine-grain pearl surface. It picks up density at a nice speed so reciprocity failure isn't an issue, and it responds to polycontrast filters quite well.
