Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this adaptor allow use of Tamron Nikon FTZ incompatible since there are no electronic connections?

A: yes you could use this adapter with tamron lenses.

Q: 2. Can you use this adaptor with Tamron lenses that are not compatible with the Nikon FTZ adaptor?

A: Yes you can use it for any Nikon F mount lens except for the "E" type lenses (the electromagnetic diaphragm). This adapter has a simple, fully manual, and durable all-metal design for intuitive and straightforward use. It features a built-in aperture control ring to enable the use of G-type Nikon F-mount lenses, which lack a manual aperture ring. While this adapter will maintain infinity focus and the use of aperture priority metering, it does not relay electronic communication between the camera and lens.

Q: 3. Does it come with lens and camera mounts? (Canon R)

A: The Novoflex Universal Compact Bellows would be the bellows by itself. The Novoflex Universal Compact Bellows, B&H # NOBALF, does not come with a camera mount or lens mount adapter. These must be purchased separately. You would need 2 pieces to mount the camera. The Novoflex A-Mount to BAL-F Adapter Ring linked here. https://bhpho.to/2W8tHpq. And the Novoflex Universal Bayonet A Adapter Ring for Canon RF Cameras linked here. https://bhpho.to/3BrAfzs. The proper lens mount will depend on the lens you wish to use on this.

Q: 4. Hello could you please tell me whether this works with the Fujufilm GFX 100s system?

A: Yes. According to Novoflex US' website, for use with the GFX-system, you will need 2-adapters. They note that "a GFX-100 needs an additional spacer ring PRO25 in-between the bellows rear standard and the adapter. It would otherwise collide with the standard." Q: 5. what does it take to mount this to an Olympus OMD !! ? J. Payne

A: To attach your Micro Four Thirds Camera to the Novoflex Universal Compact Bellows you will need 2 pieces. You will need the Novoflex A-Mount to BAL-F Adapter Ring linked here. https://bhpho.to/2V4jxFT. And you will need the Novoflex Short Lens Adapter for Novoflex A Mount to Micro Four Thirds Camera linked here. https://bhpho.to/3kECf1l

Q: 6. Is this adapter compatible with Zeiss Milvus ZF.2 lenses, in order to control aperture from the lens? Zeiss Milvus lenses follow the Nikon AI-P standard.

A: This adapter only works with Nikon F mount lenses which allow control of the aperture from the lens only, since there are no electronic contacts in it. With the Milvus series lenses from Zeiss, the aperture can be controlled electronically upon locking down the aperture to the smallest setting. To have electronic aperture control on a Nikon Z body, the Nikon FTZ adapter, B&H # NIFTZ would be better to use. https://bhpho.to/2JEF3bQ

Q: 7. Would auto focus work with Nikon AF-D lenses using this adapter?

A: Autofocus is not compatible with this adapter. Focus would only work manually.

Q: 8. can used be Hasselblad CF lens ?

A: Yes Novoflex BALPRO 1 Universal Bellows can be used with Hasselblad CF lenses with this adapter: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/269742-REG/Novoflex_PROHA_Balpro_1_Adapter_for.html

Q: 9. What's the lens crop factor ?Any lens vignette ?Is there a lens lock switch to prevent lens falling out of the adapter ?

A: A Hasselblad V mount camera has a film size of 60mm x 60mm. A Hasselblad X mount camera has a sensor of 44 x 33 mm so yes, cropping indeed. Vignetting would depend on the lens. But since there is cropping, most likely there will be no vignetting. Yes, there is a locking pin. And being Novoflex, there is no flex because their products are unsurpassed in quality.

Q: 10. How does the aperture ring function? What does it control?

A: This adapter is fully manual, which means there are no automatic controls. So a lens that doesn't have an aperture ring can be controlled with this adapter by the ring that's on the outside, since you won't be able to control it from inside the camera.

[0.2 lb] It works as intended without any problems. Others have commented on lenses fitting too tightly, or the bellows fitting the camera lens mount too tightly, but I have no issues with mine. It does what it's supposed to do.

[0.2 lb] A lot of bang for the buck. It will not work with the lenses from DSLR camera systems unless they have an ability that allows you to manually adjust aperture, otherwise with a regular SLR lens, they work well . Best results are with a 45 to 60mm focal length lens, or longer. At about 50mm focal length, you are focusing at about an inch from the lens, as the image reflects. With the bellows retracted a bit, the third image was the result. With a 135mm focal length lens, you are focusing at about 5 to 6 inches with bellows at full extension with a field of view of about 1?? inches to 2 inches. As with all Close up schemas, you lose depth of field, but if you shoot coins, rings/ jewelry, or smale scale models, this is a perfect combination. Once set up, it is pretty much a WYSIWYG with an ISO of 125 or 100. Since the camera is unable to hold the iris open while you are composing, if you stop the lens down after composing, then you can adjust your ISO accordingly to improve depth of field, but you will need to resort to a tripod. The only down side is the measuring scale is that it is glued on rather than etched in the rail. A minor detail unless you require compious complete notes to save time on reproducing results as you are more likely to be advancing or reversing the bellows with the left hand knob rather than analyzing a measuring scale. If the right knob set screw is allowed to drag slightly on the rail, you right hand to operate the camer and the bellows will hold position. If you take this into the field, it is not indestructable, however if the camera and bellows are mounted to a rail and the rail then mounted to a tripod, you should do okay if you are careful and mindful of the physics of levers. Also decent lighting of the subject is essential. Relying on the light you can constantly throw on the stage will give you the most predictable results without undue shadows or nasty surprises.

[0.2 lb] I use this Bellows with a 50mmm nikon Manual lens. i fell that it is a great value for the money. Especially with the added diopters package from vivator. i also own a 40mm macro and a 85mm macro. They are good in the field but I still love the bellows for home studio use.

[Copal #0] Works very well with Fuji X mount. The construction is a mixed bag of very cheap plastic knobs, decent bellows material and good quality metal rails. Be very gentle with it and it will last long. i bought two thanks to B&H for their support and vast catalogue.

[Copal #0] This bellows has allowed me to transform lenses I already own into high quality, high power macro lenses!

I purchased this bellows to take macro photographs with my current lenses. I primarily use the bellows with a 90mm lens which has manual aperture and focus rings. This allows me to take nearly microscopic photos! Lots of light is required to take good photos with this system, and the depth of field is quite narrow even at f/8, but compared to spending hundreds of dollars on a good quality macro lens I am very happy. There is no aperture or focus pass through, so a lens with manual rings is required. The bellows length adjustment uses a rack and pinion which moves smoothly. The camera body mount and lens mount click in securely with my Sony gear, and the lens is locked in with a little spring loaded pin that you pull to release the lens.

[0.2 lb] It holds 6-7 cards plus 4-5 notes. Easy to access any card you need while keeping the overall thickness very low. Like the design.

[Copal #0] Replacing retaining rings on vintage equipment can give you nervous fits. Those aren't the "fits" you're hoping for when you're working to keep a vintage piece of gear working. Happily, this ring was the precise fitting replacement I was hoping for when I ordered it. Another piece of vintage gear got a new lease on life because of it. And classic lenses look like nothing else. That's why we keep them going.
Thanks, B&H for another easy solution.
