In black, this 12.5 x 7.5 x 5.4" Archival Methods Archive Box 900 Kit 4x6"from Archival Methods Archive Box 900 Kit 4x6"is designed to archive and safely store 5 x 7" prints, envelopes, and CD cases. Also, the box can serve as a general-purpose storage box for collectibles, small pieces of art, or specimens found in nature. The lid itself has undercut front panels for easy access and more room to move materials around. The heavyweight 55 pt. ArchivalGrade boxboard is made from fully bleached, high alpha cellulose pulp, which has a minimum of 3% of calcium carbonate, and it maintains a pH value of 8 to 9.5. Moreover, the boxboard, which is suitable for long-term storage of materials, has passed the Photographic Activity Test. In addition, the paper is free of lignin, acid, recycled pulp, metal, waxes, plasticizers, bleach, and peroxide, and virtually free of sulfur.

The exterior of the box is a textured surface, and the colored dye is light-fast and non-bleeding. The surface of the board does not contain knots, shives, or abrasive particles that would otherwise damage the material stored inside. Meanwhile, the anti-corrosive metal-edge clamps, which have been treated with a black polyester coating and a wax-free polyester finish, have been added to the corners of the box and provide strength and rigidity to stack the boxes on top of each other.

[Attached Lid] I bought 13 packs to re-file my many old pre-digital photos. They had been stored in many different original tattered old envelopes, so I bought these to keep them properly stored - I hope. They appear to be high quality, but I'll never know. I hope they work the way they should; maybe my kids will know some day!

[8.0 to 9.5] I bought these while removing photos from 50-year-old magnetic albums. The envelopes prompt logging traceability on your photos, & they're ideal for housing loose photos safely long-term. Not cheap, but archival protection never is--these are highly recommended for everyone from the home scrapbooker to families archiving family photos.

[Attached Lid] Huh! Like I'll have any needs in the next 50 years. This product approximates the type of envelopes my prints and negatives have been in for the last 50 years without the ink and other chemicals that would affect the contents. I'm scanning all of my negatives and storing in these for someone else in the future. I also use
Print File 35-10E4 Archival Storage Sleeve for 35mm Negatives (25-Pack) for the negatives. The combination works well for me.

[0.65 lb] I’ve been using this product for years, but not too many online stores carry them anymore, opting to sell plastic “envelopes” instead, which I dislike. B&H has the lowest price that I could find. Hope they never stop selling these.
