Q: 1. What size LensCoat Lens Hoodie would you recommend for the SAMYANG 8/3.5HD FISHEYE LENS W/HOOD? The diameter of the hood is 2.75 inches so this is right on the size boundary.

A: My experience with a similar lens to Hoodie dilemma was that at first the fit was very tight and hard to put on but now is easy enough.

Q: 2. Will this work with the TC14EIII teleconverter?

A: The Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-14E III is compatible with this lens.

Q: 3. Has Anyone who owns this lens found a good quality plate that fits well?

A: I recommend that you replace the factory foot with a Kirk LP-47, which has an Arca-Swiss base. You'll save weight and have a more stable base compared with adding a plate to the factory foot. In addition, the Kirk foot is designed perfectly to accept a BlackRapid shoulder strap connector.

Q: 4. Does the lens coat cover keep out moisture, dust, sand, and heat? I photograph in the desert south west. The sun beating down on a black lens can get really hot! Any remedies?

A: No, the lens coat protects for the following Protection Against Scrapes/Light Bumps Helps Maintain Resale Value of Lens Provides Thermal Barrier

Q: 5. Hi!how much vignetting can you consider as normal on this tele?. On my Newly purcased(in Sweden) it’s a major component on pictures with full opened aparture!

A: This lens would not be subject to vignetting.

Q: 6. Will this Lens cover fit my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm ED 4D?

A: NO. I have both lenses and the new 300E lens is much smaller.Get the proper cover for your lens and everything will line up where it should and function properly

Q: 7. Power Consumption? Just mounted this to a Z7 which was previously used with a 200-500 F5.6 Nikkor. The power consumption with it seems very high compared to the zoom. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks

A: We have not heard of any issue regarding this lens. We suggest testing with a fresh battery. If you are finding a noticeable difference in the power usage and you have had the lens from B&H less than 30 days, please contact B&H Customer Service regarding an exchange or return.

Q: 8. Is a plain glass protection filter available for this lens? I usually put them on my lenses just to keep the front glass clean.

A: No. There are no threads to accept a filter, and even if there were the weight of that much glass would throw off the very good balance of the lens. The front element of the lens is, essentially, plain glass and designed to protect the optical elements and be replaced at reasonable cost if it is damage. It has a coating that repels dust and fingerprints very well. In other words, this lens has a plain glass protection filter built in.

Q: 9. The CT 505 Hard Case is pictured with the lens. Is it included?

A: Yes, the 500 mm Nikon lens I bought from B & H Photo arrived inside a CT 505 case.

Q: 10. With this lenscoat attached, will the lens still fit securely in the Nikon case?

A: The LensCoat is very tight to the lens and like a skin. It should be fine and not prevent it from fitting in the case.It has not been tested specifically but there is usually enough room to squeeze it in to a case.

[0.35 lb] I purchased the lens cover for two reasons. First it provides protection to the surface of the lens. Second I do wildlife photography and need my equipment camouflaged. It was very easy to place over the lens and looks good.

[0.35 lb] Product as advertised, an excellent piece of equipment to protect a very expensive lens.

[Waterproof] I'm using this on a Canon 50D with an extended (Canon) battery pack and right hand grip strap. The cover installs and removes easily and offers great scratch and dent protection, (though I don't think it would help allot with a high drop accident).

[Waterproof] I decided to protect my new lens with a Lenscoat tree pattern cover. Well, if you have strong hands, installation would be easy. Hands with arthritis is another story. I did get it put on lens but it took some time. I left the last piece off as I often use the polarizing filter. All in all it serves a good purpose and looks pretty good out in the Everglades.

[0.35 lb] First my thanks to B&H for great customer service. I received an email that the lens was back in stock, ordered it 5 minutes later and it was on my doorstep the next morning. As for the lens itself, it is a phenomenal achievement by Nikon. I know it's kind of the tweener lens between the Nikon 400mm f2.8 and the 600mm FL f4, but I love the size and weight. It is easier to manage than either the 400 or 600mm. I used this lens and a pro football game on a D4S with an RRS monopod. The results were spectacular. Standing at the end zone and shooting to the opposite 20 yard line, I was still extracting fine detail in the quarterback's eyes. Very impressed with the sharpness, fast AF and overall IQ. VR also works as expected. This lens is soon to be on the list of Iconic Nikon glass.

[Waterproof] I followed the directions and had no problems adding the pieces to my 500mm f4 E lens. I removed the lens foot with a hex tool I had and that made it much easier toadd the LensCoat pieces.

[0.35 lb] The lens is unbelievable sharp haven't had a lot of time with it yet but the shots I have taken so far have been unbelievable better than my 200-400 F4 for sure

[0.35 lb] I usually have a lens coat on my super-tele lenses, however I went with this and the XX Large hoodie instead for my new 500mm f4E VR FL. I got tired of the way the lens cost fit on the lens, you either have to remove pieces or deal with it. Lenscoats, especially the new ones cover up too much of the lens, such as function buttons, the five main switches, the drop-in filter holder, the manual focus ring. So I slowly started removing pieces until I had barely any left. So I decided to buy this instead and I really like it, it’s thicker and offers more protection than the regular lens coat. It’s on the lens when the lens is in the bag, either my thinktank Airport Accelerator or long lens bag. It’s easy to remove and put on and it protects the lens from getting banged up or scratched, etc. Once I bring the lens out of the bag and out of this, I put it directly onto my monopod or tripod and I’m careful. So far so good, my lens looks like new almost a year later and I’m no longer messing with the lens coat being in my way. For me this is the best option. Maybe someday they will make lenscoats for actually using your lens, but for now I’ll just use this to protect the lens when it’s not on top of my tripod.

[0.35 lb] I've used LensCoat to cover and protect my other supertele lens and found it works as expected. So I've bought another one for my new Nikon 500mm F4/E lens. It's pretty easy to put it on and works great!
