Protect your Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4E FL ED VR lens against scrapes and light impact with the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4E LensCoat TravelCover Digital Camoin digital camo. Made in the USA from 3mm closed-cell neoprene, it offers shock absorption and is designed to safeguard your lens when not in use--especially during trips when it's stowed in a bag or pack. The cover is custom-made to fit the lens, in order to take up as little space as possible and maximize your room for packing and storage. This model is meant to be used without the hood on the lens.

The TravelCoat slides over the lens quickly and easily, and is secured via touch-fastener closure. It should be used with the appropriate optional LensCoat Hoodie Lens Cap for total protection. Additionally, it works well with LensCoat Lens Covers, which slip directly over the lens and are designed for use when shooting outdoors.

Q: 1. Hi!how much vignetting can you consider as normal on this tele?. On my Newly purcased(in Sweden) it’s a major component on pictures with full opened aparture!

A: This lens would not be subject to vignetting.

Q: 4. Has Anyone who owns this lens found a good quality plate that fits well?

A: I recommend that you replace the factory foot with a Kirk LP-47, which has an Arca-Swiss base. You'll save weight and have a more stable base compared with adding a plate to the factory foot. In addition, the Kirk foot is designed perfectly to accept a BlackRapid shoulder strap connector.

Q: 5. Will this lens work with a D5500?

A: Yes

Q: 6. Power Consumption? Just mounted this to a Z7 which was previously used with a 200-500 F5.6 Nikkor. The power consumption with it seems very high compared to the zoom. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks

A: The LensCoat is very tight to the lens and like a skin. It should be fine and not prevent it from fitting in the case.It has not been tested specifically but there is usually enough room to squeeze it in to a case.

Q: 9. Will this work with the new D500 that's coming?

A: I was able to use it on D300. It should also work on D500.

Q: 10. Is this lens manufactured in Japan or in China like the new 300mm f/4 PF VR?

[Touch-fastener] I've used LensCoat to cover and protect my other supertele lens and found it works as expected. So I've bought another one for my new Nikon 500mm F4/E lens. It's pretty easy to put it on and works great!

[0.1" / 3.0 mm] Product as advertised, an excellent piece of equipment to protect a very expensive lens.

[Touch-fastener] This is the fourth super-tele I have put a lens coat on. The others were also Nikons, a 200-400 f4, a 500 f4, the 600 f4 G model, and now the 600 f4 E lens. This one was by far the best fit and easiest to install. Good fit, easy install and extra protection for the lens against scratches and minor bumps. The only downside is that they are way over-priced for what the are - but no one else makes them, so this is the only option.

[Touch-fastener] I purchased the lens cover for two reasons. First it provides protection to the surface of the lens. Second I do wildlife photography and need my equipment camouflaged. It was very easy to place over the lens and looks good.

[Touch-fastener] I usually have a lens coat on my super-tele lenses, however I went with this and the XX Large hoodie instead for my new 500mm f4E VR FL. I got tired of the way the lens cost fit on the lens, you either have to remove pieces or deal with it. Lenscoats, especially the new ones cover up too much of the lens, such as function buttons, the five main switches, the drop-in filter holder, the manual focus ring. So I slowly started removing pieces until I had barely any left. So I decided to buy this instead and I really like it, it’s thicker and offers more protection than the regular lens coat. It’s on the lens when the lens is in the bag, either my thinktank Airport Accelerator or long lens bag. It’s easy to remove and put on and it protects the lens from getting banged up or scratched, etc. Once I bring the lens out of the bag and out of this, I put it directly onto my monopod or tripod and I’m careful. So far so good, my lens looks like new almost a year later and I’m no longer messing with the lens coat being in my way. For me this is the best option. Maybe someday they will make lenscoats for actually using your lens, but for now I’ll just use this to protect the lens when it’s not on top of my tripod.

[0.1" / 3.0 mm] This sleeve comes in six parts, making it easy to install without having to remove the lens mounting foot and ensuring that the sleeve does not interfere with camera function. Used along with other camo gear (jacket, tripod leg sleeves, Wimberley sleeve) it effectively breaks up the lens silhouette. Perfect for wildlife photographers.

[Touch-fastener] Fairly easy to apply and had all the necessary openings positioned correctly. Comes with instructions but pretty self explanatory

[Touch-fastener] There's not much to say about this lens cover. It's easy to put on, protects the lens from the elements and it looks a bit more interesting comparing to the traditional camouflage. It does the job!
