The 400Ws Matrix recycles to full power in a fast 1.7 seconds with short flash durations that capture even the most fleeting gestures. Power is variable over 6 stops from 1/32 to full power, adjustable on the flash head's digital display in 1/10 stop increments. The bright 150W modeling light can be set to proportional to let you pre-visualize your final shot, a great benefit especially when using multiple light setups. The MCD400R's UV-corrected, user-replaceable flash tube ensures accurate rendition of colors right down to the subtlest of hues. The lifetimes of both the flashtube and modeling lamp are lengthened by the fan cooling in the high-impact polymer head.

The MCD400R comes with a 12' sync cord, but its integrated radio receiver allows wireless triggering even through walls and other obstacles using the included transmitter. Convenience features include soft push button back panel control and a ratcheting tilt handle that ensures precise, secure placement of your flash head. The Matrix MCD400R comes with a 7" reflector and is compatible with a wide range of optional accessories including grids, snoots, parabolic reflectors, softboxes, and umbrellas.

A: As per the manufacturer, the minimum and maximum flash duration for this monolight is based on t0.5.

Q: 9. Can flash duration be adjusted?

A: Not directly, no. But for most flash units the brightness of the flash over a set amount of time doesn't change. What does change is the length of the light burst. So shooting at full power uses the longest burst, and at half power it will be half as long. I don't have the manuals in front of me (but they are online at the Photogenic website). I'm pretty sure they give the length of flash durations at various settings.... or at least an estimate.

Q: 10. What is the T1 and T5 flash duration?

A: The manufacture lists that the Photogenic Matrix MCD400R has a flash duration of 1/250th ~ 1/600th. And they do not list any other.

[16] I have been using this model for my second and third strobes. They work perfect, are super easy to adjust, are plenty bright and if need be are portable with the battery pack. My main light is the photogenic1000 which works with these very well as a set and all the softbox mounts are the same so I can switch between each light with little effort. 5

[Photogenic] I really like these Stuidiomax Strobes they seen to do a great job and they are constant. The only complaint I have is the flash bulbs, they are a little fragile. However they are great as long as you keep a cover over them. IE... the reflector, the black cover, a softbox, well you get the idea. 5

[7.44 lb] I love these lights! they have taken my studio photography to the next level. The fact that I can control the power with such precision makes it so much easy to produce the finished product I am looking for. To add, the build in Pocket Wizards makes my life leaps and bounds easier not having to deal with the issue of having to hook up external Pocket Wizards and worry about banging them around as I re position lights while I'm shooting. It is just an all around great package! They could be a little cheaper but lets be honest, we wish everything is cheaper and I know that you get what you pay for so I think the quality that I got fits the price. 5
