Embrace the variable beam angle of a Fresnel light while keeping a compact kit by using the Zylight F8-200 LED Fresnel Dual Head ENG Kitfrom Zylight. It has a flat shape and an 8" lens that extends away from the body, but closes down for storage and transport. Inside is a 200W Quantum Dot LED with a CRI of 96 that gives this unit an output equivalent to that of a 400W HMI fixture. Also, it is balanced with a 5600K color temperature and has an adjustable beam angle from 16-70°. Also, the light can be dimmed from 0-100% via local controls, over DMX, or by using the ZyLink Wireless system.

The physical design is quite durable with an IP54-rated weather resistance and active cooling for reducing heat. It accepts power via a 4-pin XLR input and can accept an optional battery caddie for true portability. Along with this, it has a yoke mount for use on a light stand and comes with a universal AC power supply.

Q: 1. IP54 WX rating... that is the same as Bron Kobold HMIs yes? Will this hold up in hurricane conditions like the Bron?

A: No. IP54= Ingress of dust is not totally prevented but dust does not enter in harmful quantities to interfere with the correct operation or impair safety of the unit. The unit can take Low pressure spray from any angle for about 10 minutes – commonly referred to as splash proof but I wont go as far to say it is hurricane proof.

Q: 2. Do these work with gold mount batteries?

Q: 3. Does it have twice the power the first generation?

A: The 200w version has double the power of the 100w version.

Q: 4. Is there a V-mount battery option for the Zylight F8-200?

A: Yes there is! The F8 200 uses 2pc of 14.4v battery (8 amps min) and we have a Dual Battery Adapter to allow battery powering. It mounts right to your light stand. You need the Battery Adapter and the Power Cable. Q: 5. Do the Profoto light modifiers fit the front diameter of this?

A: Yes, it is designed to be able to accept Profoto modifiers.

Q: 6. With colors, how bright is this fixture? I want to hit a mottled dark muslin backdrop about 10 feet away. Some have said I need the equivalent of 650 watts. Yes? No?

A: This fixture will pretty easily be visible on a dark background at 10'. Bright is a relative thing It depends on if it is for the human eye or for a camera and what those settings are.

Q: 7. If I wanted to use some sort of DC power distro, what would that be? To find a DC power source with enough amp output, I'd need to know if the max consumption of a 200-C 150W at 24V or 36V?

A: 150W at 24V is about 6 amps. 150W at 36V is just under 4 amps.

Q: 8. Does the F8 ship with barn doors?

A: Yes the F8 LED Fresnel ships with a set of barndoors.

Q: 9. What is the equivalent wattage from a Tungsten Fresnel?

[1x Barndoors] All the promises of LED technology manifested. It's bright, color-changing, portable, and doesn't get hot. It's surprisingly small and light for the output -- sans reflector it could almost be carried in a purse. Color rendition seems great, super easy to match to other sources or practicals. The controls (phone app!) make this plain old fun to use. It's quickly become my go-to key. 5

[CRI 96] Had a chance to try out the 200-c and I was impressed with the quality of light and how seamlessly the app gives you control of all the full color settings. A big bonus was the ability to use pro photo accessories with this unit! 5

[1x Barndoors] Small compact light that is retractable, robust and great quality of light. I love the wireless controls, and it comes with barn doors, and the quick release is pretty cool. You could bring it up high, push it over your lens, the one-handed adjustability lets you set the position without locks or knobs. 5

[16 to 70°] This light is bright, compact and it can take weather. It can also run on a brick battery with the the battery accessory plate. I use this on all my location shoots and it's a really rugged and durable fixture. I haven't seen anything like this on the market that can deliver a Fresnel punch with this kind of footprint. A way different experience than a panel light. 5

[1x Barndoors] This is great light for Run and Gun outdoor setups. Wish it was Bicolor, but with a set a filters is does just fine in just about every outdoor setup I need a nice pop! 4 times the power of a light panel, single source, and focusable. Also weather resistant which is nice in outdoor setups. Best light I own. 5

[CRI 96] Bright and rugged - a nice quality of light. To my eye, it doesn't feel quite as directional as a traditional tungsten fresnel, but it's a great light to balance against daylight in an interview setup and it looks beautiful through a chimera. 5

[1x LED Fresnel] The color saturation and range on this unit is superb. I was blown away by the spectrum covered by this unit. In particular the super deep reds and blues where other LED units fall short. The controls are precise and you can dial in about any color imaginable. The IP rating allows use in damp environments which is also a huge plus, not something you will find in many competing lamps or soft lights. I also like the fact that you can use profoto modifiers as necessary. 5
