A: To answer your question, yes. While it is true that the Tentacle transmits two channels, this adapter only connects to the channel that transmits the timecode.The schematic for this adapter (on the manufacturers site) clearly shows the timecode out of the Tentacle is connected to pin 2 of the XLR and both remaining XLR pins are connected to the ground.Besides, the way a standard XLR connector is wired allows it to only transmit the signal of one audio channel anyway, so only the timecode goes to one audio channel of your camera or recorder, and you can use the other XLR connector on your camera or recorder for any other audio you wish.

Q: 5. I was trying to do something that I think can not be done with what I have. This cable is not meant to go from a XRL mic needing phantom power to RCA correct?

A: you cannot use this with a phantom powered mic unless the mic is a self powered model containing a battery

A: This particular cable is a mono ts connection on the 3.5mm connector. It would only see the L channel of a stereo signal. There are no resistors in this cable.

[25' / 7.6 m] We recently added a few of these cascade 8 pin cables to our mobile rig in order to gain better control of our PTZ Optics cameras. We have been using the supplied IR remote control, but sometimes it was difficult to make it work because of line of sight and other factors. We bought a PTZ joystick controller and then wired up the cameras for control. Once it was set up, we had excellent control over the wire! 5

[1.02 lb] I bought these because I have a mix of NDI and older PTZ Optics cameras. I control the NDI cameras over the network using a PTZ camera controller and the PTZ APP on an iPad, but I did not have control of my older SDI cameras...until now. I am very glad I bought these cables. 5
