Be selective with your focus with the Lensbaby Edge 50 Optic for Creative Photographywhich offers a normal angle of view with coverage for full-frame image sensors. It is compatible with the Optic Swap System and all Lensbaby lens bodies including the Composer Pro. This flat field optic differs from your standard lens by creating a slice of focus that is bordered by gradual blur created by tilting the Edge 50 Optic in the Composer Pro or Composer Pro II in conjunction with the 9-blade adjustable aperture for smooth out-of-focus areas. If used as a 50mm prime lens, images will be crisp from edge to edge. You can manually change the aperture from f/3.2 to f/22 utilizing the dial on the front of the lens. The optic also offers manual focus which, by using the close focus extension feature, can focus as close as 8" from your subject. In addition, the Edge 50 offers 46mm front threads for any filters you would like to use. Keep your lens smudge free with the included microfiber cloth and protected when stored in its hard storage case.

[Manual Focus] I have been using Lensbaby optics with the Composer Pro for some time. The introduction of the Edge 80 Optic gave me a whole new capability for creative expression. The Optic feels sturdy, well made and yet easy to put in and remove from the Composer Pro. My goals was to use it for portraits and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I find that it is easy to set the aperture, adjust the shutter speed and make very minor adjustments in focus around the sweet spot so common in the Lensbaby system. I also noticed that it takes very little tilting to get a very nice blurred bokeh, much less than with the Sweet 35, for example. As with all Lensbaby optics, this is not the best approach for kids IF they are running around because the time taken to manually focus means you might lose a good shot. But bribe them to stay still and you will certainly smile at the result. 5

[Manual Focus] The slice of focus is exactly the type of effect I was looking for in a tilt lens. I tried the Double Glass and it's not nearly as pronounced as the Edge 50. It's a super fun lens to use and forces you to slow down and master the tilt effect with manual focus. Highly recommended! Also, it's much more convenient to have a built in aperture instead of the magnetic disks. Works with all of Lensbaby's Composer tilt systems. 5

[f/22] When B&H had the lensbaby sale (buy composer pro & sweet 35, get edge 80 free) I HAD to jump on it. I've been wanting both of these lenses for a while & this was the perfect opportunity for me to try each of them. I LOVE the edge 80! Changing out the lenses can be a little tricky, so watch the how to videos if needed. I love how small the LB are & how I can just throw them in my bag & go. Definitely recommend for more creative shots!! 5

[50mm] This is the result of my first use of this lens. 50+ images & 2.5 hours later. I even consulted the documentation. I had previously watched all of the Lensbaby videos for this lens. Shot was on a tripod with macro focusing rails & macro flash. I am quite pleased with the photo. This lens will deliver if your vision suits the linear focusing that it allows. Olympus OM D EM 1 manual mode. This will not be my most used lens, but it will deliver some of my best work. 5

[9] I owned the Velvet 56 and the Sweet 50. The best part of this lens are the focal length: 80, which is best for portraits (less distortions), and the edge blur which gives you a straight edge blur. One problem I found with the Sweeet 50 is the type of blur it has. It's radial/circular and sometimes it looks artificial. The blur of the Edge 80 seems to be more natural and perfect with portraits and fashion. 5

[9] A great addition to the composer pro sweet 50 this lens is a pleasure to play with. It encourages you to be creative all the time. The tilt shift allows you to have the focus slice vertical, horizontal or diagonal according to the angle you tilt the lens. This is really easy to use and the manual focus and aperture controls are smooth. this lens has great build quality. I highly recommend it. 5
