Q: 1. We have 2 BLX4/SM52 systems, with the frequency range of 584-608. We need a replacement mic. I see that the receiver range is now divided between 2 mic bands, H11:572-596 and J11:596-616. Does it matter which band mic I get?

A: As long as both the Shure BLX4 Wireless Receiver and the Shure BLX2/SM58 Handheld Wireless Microphone Transmitter with SM58 Capsule are tuned to the same frequency, the transmitter and receiver will be able to communicate together. So for a BLX4 Receiver with a frequency band of 584 to 608 MHz, you can use a BLX2/SM58 Transmitter that operates on the H11 band of 572 to 596 MHz or a BLX2/SM58 Transmitter that operates on the J11 band 596 to 616 MHz.

Q: 2. Can this be compatable with any Shure wireless reciver like the BLX24?

A: The Shure ULXD6/O Digital Wireless Omni Boundary Microphone Transmitter is compatible with Shure ULXD receivers only.

Q: 3. Will this work with a Shure ULXP4 receiver?

A: No, the BLX2 transmitter will not be compatible with the ULXP4 receiver.

Q: 4. My receiver is a J50 unit. With the J50A be the correct transmitter?

A: Yes, you can use the QLXD2/B87A-J50A transmitter with your QLX-D-J50 or ULX-D-J50 receiver. The FCC recently changed regulations for the frequency band above 616 MHz. This range is no longer available for use by wireless microphones and is now designated for use with broadband. Due to these changes, Shure has discontinued the J50 band (572 to 636 MHz) and replaced it with the J50A band (572 to 608 + 614 to 616 MHz), which covers much of the same bandwidth as J50. Older QLX-D and ULX-D components that operate on the J50 band can be used with newer components operating on the J50A band.

Q: 5. Can this work on QLXD or ULXD receivers ?

A: The Shure SLXD2/SM58 is a digital handheld wireless microphone transmitter compatible with SLX-D receivers only.

Q: 6. Is this made up of two different length belts that velcro together? And/or is one an arm/thigh belt? Can the pouch fit a Sennheiser G3 transmitter?

A: Found this on Shure's site: QUESTION:What devices fit into the WA580 cloth pouch?ANSWER:UR1 transmitterULXD1 transmitterP9R receiverThere is a hole in the pouch for the antenna to protrude. Approximate dimensions for the pouch (made with a stretchable material): 4 H x 2 W x 0.75 DThere are two belts that come with the WA580 bodypack pouch. One is 20 inches long and one is 30 inches long. They can be velcroed together to form an extra-large single belt.

Q: 7. Please advice which SD cards work with the PXW-X180 Sony video camera

A: Any current class 10 SD would work. For the work this camera is supposed to do, I would recomend this kind of card, Sony 64GB Ultra-High Durability Professional SDXC UHS-I Memory Card (Class 10) B&H # SOPSD64GB.

Q: 8. Will this pack work with an SLX1 Bodypack Transmitter?

A: Yes it will. The stretch of the pouch material will allow it to accommodate an SLX1.

Q: 9. can it be shipped to india?

A: Unfortunately as an Authorized US Shure Dealer we are prohibited by the Manufacturer from shipping their products to addresses outside of the United States.

[1x 1/4 Wave ] I use this on a Lectrosonics handheld transmitter. Top quality sound - as good as an unhyped condenser, and a tight polar pattern. And no proximity effect.

[Aluminum] This mic was super easy to pair to the main receiver unit and sounded great.

[Proprietary] I was reluctant to fork over this much money for a dynamic mic. But I had heard some great things about the KSM8, so I took a chance. I am extremely happy with that decision. Amazing, full sounding mic with a very even and pleasant tone. Plus really good feedback rejection. (i'm not working with blasting monitors as a work in the jazz world, but at the levels I'm performing at, the feedback rejection is superb.) I use it mostly with my wife who has a fairly soft soprano voice and the overall sound is flat and even thoughout the frequency range (though clear and open) with no emphasis or tones that stick out. It's kind of difficult to describe my first impression except to say that it's beefy without being muddy, and still sounding open at the top. It sounds much better than the more expensive Neumann KMS 105 she was using with much better off axis rejection. Best, most even dynamic mic I've ever used.

[Cardioid] Selected the H10 after reviewing frequency band congestion in the area of our church. These microphones sound great and we haven't had any interference.

[Aluminum] I have not had a chance to use the KSM8 extensively, but I was very impressed with the balanced tone. In the studio, I used it direct-in and almost forgot that I wasn't using EQ. When live, for my voice I needed to drop off some bass, and give the 1khz a bump up, and a smaller bump ahead of it, because I like air. But, yes, it has minimal proximity effect, but just enough to feel like you can eat the mic and get some power without spiking the bass. But be advised at first I was not sure if I would like it, because I was so used to using an SM58, that I kind of missed the proximity effect, which is a valid effect!... but this thing is a different animal, and I am getting used to it now and it makes alot of sense. With an SM58, I always felt like I had to artificially manipulate how I sing in order for the vocal to come out the way I want to hear it. When I first tried the KSM8, I was totally oversinging, and feeling slightly anxious because the mic wouldnt respond to my usual way of singing in an SM58. WIth the KSM8, I feel like I can sing more naturally (as if I were singing unplugged without any mic)... I would say it is definitely not the same as no mic, and I still have to watch my sibilance a bit, but especially plosives when close to the mic, but it's way easier to control that an SM58 which always requires a heightened state of awareness to ensure that you are aligned correctly and twisting your diction enough to come out of the PA cleanly and as desired. The plosive issue seems to disappear when I pull off the mic. When in the studio, the KSM8 reminded me of the EV635A/B which I had recently used to record poetry, as it is also a mic made for the human voice, and requires minimal EQ.... I am not a Microphone master, but to my ear, the EV635 and KSM8 had a similar flat EQ suited for voice, with a little bit of sizzle in the high end. Highly recommend this mic.

[30 Hz to 20 kHz] I've been singing for 17 years and this microphone is hands down the best one of all Shure microphones, in my opinion. :)

[Handheld] I love this mic. Sounds really excellent in a mix, and whatever bleed from the band actually sounds good and adds something positive - like another nice room mic. Takes EQ very well. I would say it does the things a 58 does for live vocals while sounding like a supercharged SM7. It's pricey, but I'd buy again.

[1 / 10 mW] Using on tour on my lead vocalist. Her keyboard vocal mic is a standard 58 so I'm able to compare the two directly night to night. Every time she walks over to the keyboard mic I cringe a little bit. KSM's lack of a presence peak hits the PA very nicely. Overall smooth response, consistent with distance and off axis as well. Surprising Electro Voice didn't try this in a handheld sooner...
