Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this also fit an H5? I see that there is an H5 case but it looks nearly identical, and I already have this and the portabrace case for H6 (I prefer the slimness of this case) so I’d love to use this one with a new H5, if I can

A: This case would not work well with the H5.

Q: 2. Does the back open up and allow access to the 1/4 20 hole? I sometimes use the H6 mounted to the hot shoe on my DSLR via a Manfrotto mini ball head.

A: Yes, there is access to the 1/4"-20 mounting hole when the bottom panel is opened.

Q: 3. How do you attach the case to your belt? Where is the belt loop?

A: It has a belt loop on the back of the case. There is Velcro so you can open up the belt loop to loop it around something and then close it.

Q: 4. Is there an area or ideal space where I can mount at most 2 sennheiser wireless transmitter packs? Or even maybe one?

A: The receiver can be attached to the side of the bag or the neck. However for more space you might want to take a look at the bag in the link bellow. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1514532-REG/orca_or_268_low_profile_audio_bag.html

Q: 5. When do you have a PCH-8?

A: There is not currently an available case like the Zoom PCH-6 Protective Case for Zoom H6 Handy Recorder that is designed to accommodate the size and form factor of the Zoom H8 Portable Handy Recorder. As an alternative, an option such as the PortaBrace AR-SF1 Portable Audio Recorder Case (BH #POARSF1) may prove suitable for this application: https://bhpho.to/3nmcwer

Q: 6. What's the best strap to use with this?

A: This case does not have a means of affixing a strap; the intended mounting method is with the belt loop on the back of the case, the loop at the bottom of the case is intended as a key ring.

Q: 7. Does the clear window remove?

A: It does not remove completely The bottom is sown down, the top and sides can be opened They kept in place with Velcro.

Q: 8. Is there a shoulder strap for this?

A: A strap is not included. This is an optional strap for this case: Porta Brace HB-15 Medium-Duty Black Flex Shoulder Strap (Metal Hooks) B&H # POHB15

Q: 9. Does the case hold the H4N model? Can you record with the recorder in the case partially concealed?

A: Although designed to hold the Zoom H5 recorder, the Zoom PCH-5 Protective Case for Zoom H5 Handy Recorder will likely accommodate the Zoom H4n Pro as well. Both recorders are of similar dimensions and form factor.

Q: 10. The photos do not show whether the protective case will securely hold the recorder in place when hung by the key ring without the mic element cover on? Logic tells me that it would, but I just want to double check, since I use an EXH-6 capsule a lot and always hang my H6 on a shoulder strap with the EXH-6 capsule pointing downward.

A: In a word, the answer is yes. The case holds the zoom securely. This is a good case, well thought out, in my opinion.

[0.335 lb] Sure you could say there are some design flaws such as the hook strap located at the *exposed bottom*, and adequate placement of velcro parts(as other reviewers have pointed out), but if you can work around/with those quirks, this things does it’s job of protecting from the elements just fine.

I’ve been able to record the sounds of rainfall and sea spray as authentically as I possibly can, thanks to this case. Purchased this 3 weeks ago and have used it in the field several times since. I highly recommend.

[Empty] This protective case for the ZOOM PCH-6 is a must buy. It gives you access to all of the important places on your Zoom 6. The velcro lets you pull the top protective cover down on the front to access ALL controls on the front. The side and back have the same access. This is just simply an awesome little piece of protective gear for your ZOOM H6. The price on it is extremely reasonable as well.
