Characterized by its uniquely durable construction, the Sigma 95mm WR Ceramic Protector Filter for Camerasfrom Sigma 95mm WR Ceramic Protector Filter for Camerasis a clear filter designed to guard the front of a lens from impacts, scratching, and other elements. Developed using a clear glass ceramic substrate, this filter blends a high 99.76% transmittance value with greater hardness than chemically-strengthened glass and greater flexibility than sapphire crystal glass. This results in a build that is shock- and scratch-resistant to withstand a variety of impacts while shooting. Additionally, a water-repellent coating has also been applied to resist water droplets and fingerprint smudging, as well as static electricity from attracting dust or other particles. Built for use in trying conditions, the unique design of the WR Ceramic Protector Filter helps to maintain the lens' inherent image quality while affording a high degree of protection.

Clear protection filter guards the front lens element from a variety of impacts and scratching without affecting image quality.

Clear glass ceramic is a highly durable substrate that has a greater hardness than chemically-strengthened glass and more flexibility than sapphire crystal glass.

Unique construction has a Vickers hardness number of 700HV, making it both scratch- and shock-resistant. This hardness also lessens the likelihood of scratching or chipping that can lead to the filter shattering.

Rather than only the surface structure being hardened, clear glass ceramic involves a heat treatment process that precipitates microcrystals of a mineral called spinel in order to achieve consistent, even strength across the entire filter surface. This strength also enables the design of the filter to be notably thin and lightweight.

A water-repellent (WR) coating has been applied that, in addition to preventing water and oil from adhering to the filter surface, also helps to minimize ghosting and flare. This coating reflects 0.24% of light, giving an overall transmittance value of 99.76%.

The WR coating also serves as an anti-static coating, which helps to repel dust or other particles from clinging to the filter surface.

The included hard acrylic case protects the filter when not in use and has been designed to prevent accidental, unwanted opening.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I’m wondering if the color of this filter matches with the color of Fuji X100V?

A: Yes, it will match very well--there is very little color shift introduced by a UV filter.

Q: 2. Which metal is used for the new Sigma filters?

A: The filter is very new and some information is not out yet. As of now it seems the frame is brass like the other models.

Q: 3. i have bought a sigma 77 mm polarized circular filter . I returned the first one after 3 days as I found small scratches on the glass and have now found considerable more scratches on the second after only three months prompting me to think that the quality of the glass or polarizing finish is not up to par . I am finicky about how and what I clean my filter with , and how I store my camera , so I know that what ever has caused the scratches can not be that significant , but maybe the glass is not as hard / strong as it should be. Can,t seem to find any specs on the grade or hardness of the glass used for these filters. Any body have any ideas ?

A: It is best if the filter comes with scratches to contact B&H customer service.Customer Service, can emailed at ord-status@a href= http://bhphotovideo.com, target= _blank bhphotovideo.com,/a or call them after 9am EST at: 800.221.5743 or 212.239.7765. Or you can talk to them in Chat.

Q: 4. If you place the 82mm filter on the RF 85mm 1.2L, can you still attach the lens hood?

A: The Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM Lens has not been tested with that specific filter but it does work with most with the hood attached. The hood will not work with most polarizing filters.

Q: 5. Is this the filter for the front of the lens? If so, it must be larger than the "46mm" shown in the title. What size is it?

A: The following filter is a 46mm that is designed and made for the Sigma 500mm f/4 DG OS HSM Sports Lens's filter holder only.

Q: 6. Is the filter frame aluminum or brass?

A: The ring on this filter is aluminum.

Q: 7. Is the front threaded? For protective Cap Storage?

A: Yes, it has a 95mm front thread.

Q: 8. How thick is the glass on these filters? (Not concerned about the total height of the assembly)

A: Same as other filters.

Q: 9. Does this filter have "front threads", for instance to screw on a lens hood?

A: Yes, same size as the rear threads.

Q: 10. Does lens also have anti-reflective coatings and how many?

A: Unfortunately no, it is not multicoated. This version is the coated version by Sigma: https://bhpho.to/2YVgoZm

[95 mm] While it is an expensive filter nevertheless it is a good investment in protecting a much more expensive lens.

[95 mm] If you will look at Sigma's video you will see that these protectors can sustain a blow from a heavy ball bearing dropped on it from a height of three feet. The result is nothing: no crack, no breakage, not even a small ding. If you're hauling your gear around factories that have all sorts of things sticking out and smack a lens against one, the lens will sustain no damage. Furthermore, these are so resistant to scratching that I no longer use lens caps. I carry my lenses in a foam lined case and don't worry about the foam rubbing against the front element. That makes it easier and faster to switch lenses. There you go. That's why I use these on all my lenses.

[0.44 lb] Imagine pulling your new RF 24-105 lens out of your camera bag and hearing the sound of tinkling glass accompanied by a second, grinding sound when you try to pry the lens cap off! That's exactly what happened to me recently with a shattered Chiara filter. No idea how it happened although perhaps the camera bag toppled off my car seat while driving. The good news is that the two scratches on my lens were each the size of dust particles and don't affect its performance. Despite that, it scared me enough to purchase this Sigma filter. The cost of it in relation to that of a new front lens element makes it so worth it. The filter itself is super solid with zero distortion. More importantly, I can rest easy knowing that the filter can take a ballistic hit without shattering and scratching my lens.

[95 mm] This Sigma ceramic lens protector is superb. I've using this product a lot this past week, and no dust has shown up, it's clear as it could be. I am using the 77mm filter on my Nikon 80-400mm AF-S G Ed VR and my 24-70mm lenses. I thinking about getting a second one. Go for it, you won't be disappointed
