The CHAUVET RDM2go DMX RDM Fixture Testing Toolis a palm-sized, multifunctional tool for working with fixtures over a DMX/RDM data line. The controller performs a number of tasks including RDM functionality, DMX snapshot and test-scene record and playback, Ilumicode addressing for Iluminarc fixtures, and DMX input and output monitoring. The unit also features a built-in DMX cable integrity checker and includes an easy-to-read OLED display for crisp visual feedback.

The unit is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which offers up to 8 hours of use and is easily recharged via micro-USB jack. The RDM2go includes a belt clip pouch, two 3- to 5-pin DMX adapters, a 5-pin-male-to-bare-wire adapter, and a USB charging cable.

Q: 1. To transmit DMX wirelessly do I need one of these to transmit and a second one to receive?

A: You will need one LumenRadio Aurora Single Universe DMX/RDM Transceiver with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth BH #LULRINAMF1 as a transmitter and one to receive.

Q: 2. Does this dimmer pack generate any appreciable power draw by itself, apart from the fixtures that are plugged into it? I’m interested in powering this with an inverter, and I want to make sure I don’t overload it. I’m particularly interested if the “ghost load” it generates internally will have any affect on the power draw.

A: The unit technically does not by itself draw power. There is some electronics but the draw is minimal. Just make sure whatever inverter battery you are using can handle a bit over the maximum power of all the lights you are attaching to it. Note that the dimmer pack is not designed to work off of a battery. And dimmer packs like in general are not. A: We have not had any flickering. The unit provided very smooth light fades. We used the unit on strings of Christmas lights on a stage.

A: The following cable is a 24 awg cable which is shielded and can support a current amp capacity of 14.2 amps.

Q: 5. Will this control the mini kinta?

A: Yes this controller is compatible with LED effects lights such as the Chauvet DJ Mini Kinta.

Q: 6. Can this handle a 1000w light?

A: Unfortunately, this Chauvet DMX-4 4 Channel Dimmer/Relay Pack Kit for LED Lighting cannot handle a 1000 watt lamphead.

Q: 7. Can i use this dimmer with filament tungsten bulbs?

A: Yes. Unit will work just fine for you filament tungsten bulbs.

A: Yes, you could use the LumenRadio Aurora Single Universe DMX/RDM Transceiver with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with a DMX console to control the Art-Net Receiver in the Rayzr MC200.

[DMX512, RDM] I write Timelines in Chauvet Showxpress in which I play my drums along to a song with a full blown lightshow in sync with the song. (yes my kids make fun of me. Call it my 2nd midlife crisis). I have currently 4 Thin tri-pars and 2 ADJ Moving spots. Along with an old Moonbeam for special effects. I added in the Scorpion Dual Beam laser to one song so far. It totally rocks, as it streams above the drumset and audience (yes some brave folk come by to watch occasionally). A great addition. Its really bright, and really pops with smoke/fog. I had to learn some DMX tricks in the SW for smooth transitions. (use the square wave transitions, not the smoothing one and it will work properly). I think you will love it. Practice laser safety please. 5

[7] Running our church house lights off these as a replacement to Leviton wall switch dimmers that were causing flickering. We installed two of these dimmer packs and connected approximately 95 LED ceiling fixtures spread out over six of the available eight channels we have with the two packs. Each fixture is a 10w LED bulb from a big orange box store. Our electrician said we are pulling approximately 1 amp on each string of lights. Integrated into the rest of our DMX stage lighting system piece of cake. Planning to purchase a spare to have on the shelf just in case. 5

[7] I use this with my Smith-Victor lights with CREE and/or FEIT 5000 Kelvin LED dimmable lamps and pass through to my Chauvet PAR56 lights. The CREE and FEIT maintain a steady white balance and my Nikon DSLR cameras match them perfectly. They are on DMX channels 1-3. The DMX pass through then goes to the PAR 56 as channel 4. 5
