The Movcam Twist Handle for Sony a7 II a7R II a7S II Cageis a quick release top handle designed for use with Movcam's a7 II-series camera cage. It attaches to the cage via an included short NATO rail and features a small red button on the side to start/stop video recording when connected to the camera using a supplied LANC control cable. Once attached to the cage, the handle can be rotated by loosening a top thumbscrew, letting you set the desired grip angle/position. Tightening the screw locks the handle in place. For accessory mounting, the handle features 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded mounting holes, a single 15mm rod port, and two shoe mounts (one in front and one in back of handle).

A: Normally we do not see anyone flying a camera in a cage on stabilizers such as this. We feel that as an operator you will want to avoid using the cage because it will: 1. Make the rig as light as possible, 2. make balancing simpler, 3. not work the motors any more than necessary.

Q: 5. Can I use this cage with the XLR K1M Sound adaptor?

A: It is possible to use the Sony XLR-K1M, or the similar XLR-K2M but the Movcam handle cannot be used at the same time.

Q: 6. With this cage on the camera, can I still mount the camera with a metabones adapter onto a tripod? Meabones has a thread on the bottom that I attach the plate to and I want to know if the cage gets in the way of the plate.

A: While there should be no problem assembling the camera, cage and lens adapter, it is suggested the a more solid set up is by using the following piece, the Movcam Riser Block for Sony A7S Camera Cage B&H # MOCSSA7S. This supports the Metabones and keeps the camera from moving in the cage.

Q: 7. Does anyone else have a problem with this cage and the Mode dial? There is room over the C1,C2 buttons and the Exposure Comp dial, but the cage sits tightly against the Mode dial. It is difficult to turn the dial, which rubs against the cage.

A: Yes it is a tight fit, at the beginning I even scrapped the dial trying to turn it.For some reason after 3 month of being installed, its still a tight fit but does not scrape any more.Probably have about 1 or 2 mm of gap.

Q: 8. What is kind of shoe mount is on the bottom of this? I would like to slip off the Riser Block and onto a gimbal so I don't have to screw on a tripod plate when going back and forth from rod set up to gimbal work.

A: The bottom of the Movcam cage utilizes an ARCA Swiss compatible dovetail.

Q: 9. Will this work with the Tilta FF-T03 follow focus out of the box?

A: Not sure.

[5.9 x 4 x 2.3"] A great cage that surrounds the camera on all edges. The camera body sits firmly inside, with a screw to hold it in place in the bottom and a tight-fitting top edge that keeps the camera in place without any room to jiggle. Performs as expected and gives me just what I wanted out of this cage. 5

[5.9 x 4 x 2.3"] I got an A7SII. After a few shoots borrowing rod support, I realized I needed my own support for a Matte Box, and Follow Focus, and Shoulder Support. It has 1/4 20 threaded holes for accessories, and a handle for carrying, and low mode shots. I use the riser block and rod support on every shoot I do now. 5

[Topside Handle] I was able to keep all the existing rod system and only buy the cage itself to accommodate my new a7sii. I thinks it's the best of the cages out there. 5
