A: The shoulder straps and seams on the compagnon Element Backpack (Volcano Black, 20L) are durable.

Q: 2. Is there a loop or feature for carry-ons when traveling through airports?

A: No, the compagnon Element Camera Backpack does not have a loop or slot to attach to a rolling carry on.

Q: 3. Does this pack have a water bottle holder that is separate from the tripod mount?

A: There are side pockets on each side of the compagnon Element Backpack (Desert Brown, 20L), one would be open for a water bottle if the other is used for the tripod.

Q: 4. Can i bring this bag onto a plane?

A: The Compagnon Element backpack does fit carry-on specifications set by most airline carriers, but they have the final say. For confirmation, please check with your carrier on a flight-by-flight basis in case of specific flight restrictions.

[Dark Brown] The Compagnon WEEKENDER GEN-III is possibly the best designed and constructed leather camera bag available today. Its intelligently engineered and ruggedly constructed and should easily withstand years of heavy use. It's a quantum improvement over any of the half dozen technical nylon bags I've owned and to my eyes it looks so much better.

I was able to position the internal padded dividers to provide 13 compartments. I carry two R5 bodies, two 580EX-II speedlites and four to six medium to large lenses (easily holds my EF 70-200 f/2.8 with RF adapter). The vertical depth of this bag accommodates lenses up to 11 inches long positioned face-down. Also can hold a sturdy 18.5 inch travel tripod internally. The two outer zippered pockets are about 7 X 7 inches each, and can hold objects up to two inches thick. They easily hold all the spare batteries, filters, cables, chargers, back-up drives and memory cards one would ever need, and then some.

However, the available space in this bag can create the temptation to carry much more stuff than you really need for most shoots. It can also result in a bag so heavy that you would not want to carry it more than a few hundred steps. This bag weighs about 7.4 lbs empty (with shoulder strap) and it can easily carry another 25 to 35 lbs of gear. It takes some serious self-restraint to not want to include stuff that you might not use but want to have available just in case.

This is a deluxe camera bag worthy of transporting the best photographic gear and it will probably outlast any of that gear, as well as its original owner if its fine leather construction is given appropriate care. Clean and wax it at least once a year and it should last for many decades. It smells nice too!

[Leather/Nylon] I use the dark brown wrist strap of my Nikon D850. I wanted a second strap for a second D850, but in black.

B&H did not offer it, so I ordered it directly from Oberwerth. The shipping was pricey; if I recall it was $36 in addition to the cost of the strap.

[Leather/Nylon] Love this bag for shooting events, I have my camera on a shoulder strap on one hip and this on the other hip. Swap between three lenses and have all the little extra things I need. The top part is really handy on vacations when you want to bring a down jacket or suddenly need a place to put a souvenir.

[Leather/Nylon] I will cut to the chase. This bag is small but holds a lot. It is light but durable. It is not cheap, but what is your equipment worth? It is a classic bag which will outlast the equipment it houses. I like the bag very much and I am considering purchasing the backpack. It is a perfect carry-on bag that can be used for more than camera equipment.

[0.15 lb] Been using the small 20L version for my lightweight setup. The roll top allows me to even go for a weekend with clothes and cameras in a small package. The material has been durable for the 6 months or so I’ve had it, still looks new.

My only complaints are that the water bottle holder is pretty tight but that also allows for secure storage of any other small item you throw in that spot, so I make work. For a larger medium size bag I have the Tenba Axis and that is great as well.

[0.15 lb] Was looking for a travel bag that was flexible and this one checks all the boxes. It fits my a7rv, Sony 24-70 GM, Sigma 85mm 1.4, and Sony 16-35 PZ, and it's a tight fit but my 11 iPad will also fit all in the bottom. And when I need a jacket, snacks, or other items the top is a great option for additional expandable travel. This is like having two bags in one and it's very well made, and also discrete for the streets.

[Leather/Nylon] This strap is easy to install and is very sturdy. Well able to hold a heavy full frame DSLR like my Canon 5D MkIII. Comfortable to wear.

[Yes] I was looking for a backpack that was comfortable can withstand the elements and protect all the gear inside. I came across a YouTube video review of it and loved it almost immediately. I'm very picky and specific when it comes to tech and gear and this bag checks all the boxes except for one, but definitely not a deal-breaker. I only wish it had a dedicated tablet sleeve along with the laptop sleeve instead of the foam ground cover. I can fit both in the one sleeve but would prefer to not have them laying on top of each other. Aside from that the bag is perfect. The X PAC material is wonderful as I plan to be in many different weather environments. The sleek form factor is wonderful and the depth and side access are marvelous. I really like the expanded roll top space for whatever I need it to be. It's strangely lightweight despite all the gear and feels really nice.
It's hard to find the best backpack for one's needs and this backpack is the one for me. I plan to stick with this backpack for a long time as it covers my daily use and travel use. I will definitely keep an eye on Compagnon products as they fit my style. Great backpack

[0.15 lb] I use this tripod quiver to cover my tripod ball heads while walking through the forest or woods with my tripod attached to my camera backpack. This way it doesn’t get caught on low hanging branches and high bushes. It also protects my head while traveling. Very finely made and highly adjustable to fit a small, medium or large ball head but not a gimbal which are too wide. Pricey though but well worth the price that this protection provides to my highly expensive ball heads. Purchased at B&H which they don’t carry this product in stock but received it in about 3 days. I thank B&H for their continued great service during this highly difficult time of lockdown.
