Designed for long-range shooting applications in low and challenging light, the Vanguard 3-12x56 Endeavor RS IV Riflescope Illuminated German #4puts a flexible and powerful optic in your hand that is further enhanced with the addition of a simple and intuitive reticle that has a clearly defined center aiming dot that is easy to see in both fading light and full daylight.

The Endeavor RS IV is outfitted with a zoom range that starts at a low 3x power for mid-range plinking and varmint hunting and goes up to a high of 12x that allows for accurate shooting at longer distances. Its partially illuminated reticle is optimized for the scope's versatile uses and offers selectable intensity levels from dim settings that won't affect vision that has been adjusted to low light all the way up to a bright setting that makes your aiming points clearly and distinctly visible in full daylight. Complementing the magnification range and reticle design are low-profile capped zero-reset windage and elevation turrets that adjust as much as 70 MOA at 1/4 MOA per click increments to improve your first-shot accuracy.

Optically, Vanguard employs a large and oversized 56mm objective lens that gathers tremendous amounts of light and ensures views remain bright and clear in low light or if you are observing targets at long range on high power. The scope further utilizes Hoya extra-low dispersion glass that corrects aberrations, so views are clear and undistorted with accurate color and improved contrast and clarity, while anti-reflection MultiGuard lens coatings further improve light transmission. The large 30mm maintube maximizes light throughput and is made of a light and durable aluminum alloy treated with an anodized finish for abrasion resistance and longevity. To withstand the harsh elements of the trail, the housing is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to make it waterproof, submersible, and resistant to internal fogging. Vanguard includes protective front and rear flip-up lens caps, so you can react quickly when opportunities present themselves.

[Aluminum] These binoculars work well with my glasses. I've had them about three weeks. Fit and finish are good. So far the 8 magnification has been a good choice for watching birds in a suburban neighborhood. I would recommend these to a friend.

[56 mm] I selected the Vanguard because of its superior design for eyeglass wearers, and that was a good decision. But I am really impressed with the quality of the image that it provides.
They seem to be great value for the money, well made, and as mentioned, a strong performer.
Thanks to B&H for pointing me to the Endeavor product line.

[2.7 lb] I bought these binocs for birding usage to obtain closer focusing distance than my great performing Leica trinovid 10x40B's and obtained that plus bonuses of super brightness, clariity, weatherproofness, etc. with only a slight increase in weight! I am more than pleased with my selection, especially considering the comparative price with its competition.

[Aluminum] I am a birdwatcher and a longtime fan of the Vanguard ED series binoculars. I have the original non-Hoya glass 8 X 42 and 10 X 42 models and had it in my budget to try the latest 8 X 42 ED IV model with the promise to myself that if not considerably better than what I already have I will return. Would the Hoya ED glass and SK-15 prisms really WOW me? I didn't care about the new diopter location design but thought it convenient. Having just recently received these and trying them out the optics are perceptively better mostly in terms of slightly more brightness after some pondering. What made these a keeper for me was the $337 with B&H's credit card's $20 discount price and build quality and feel I could not refuse. The Vanguard Endeavor ED IV 8 X 42 model easily competes in the $600 - $800 binocular price class. Older Vanguard Endeavor ED glass models without SK-15 prisms bragging rights are nearly as good. Once focused on a bird no fine details missed with any of these Vanguard Endeavor ED offerings.

[2.7 lb] Although I've only been using these binoculars for a short time for nature and astronomy, my initial impression is very favorable and they've exhibited no significant vices. It has a very solid comfortable and attractive housing. The focusing mechanism is smooth, quick, free of backlash and has just the right amount of resistance. The optics are first-rate in every respect: they're sharp edge-to-edge with neutral but slightly warm color rendition; there's no barreling effect while panning or noticeable coma (using stars as targets), chromatic aberration, vignetting or flare. Contrast, image brightness and color rendition are all outstanding. The convenient center-locking diopter correction is easy to use and the close focus distance and field of view are very good. While the case is nice it's a tight fit for the binoculars, which make access a little slow. At this point I can't make any determination of the binocular's long-term durability but have no reason to question the quality. I have other much more expensive binoculars (Leica and Zeiss) but the Endeavor IVs will compete with them convincingly.
