Ideal for boar hunting, target shooting, and plinking at close to mid range—with the ability to accurately hit shots further out if you need to, the Vanguard 1.5-6x42 Endeavor RS IV Riflescopehas a low magnification that provides near reflex sight performance on 1.5x power with the wide field of view, simple reticle layout, and fast target acquisition you need for fast multi-target shooting like 3-gun competitions, while still offering a 1:4 zoom that allows you to clearly see and accurately hit targets at longer ranges.

Its partially illuminated reticle is optimized for the scopes' versatile uses and offers selectable intensity levels from dim settings that won't affect vision that has been adjusted to low light all the way up to a bright setting that makes the center aiming dot clearly and distinctly visible in full daylight. Complementing the magnification range and reticle design are capped zero-reset windage and elevation turrets that adjust as much as 108 MOA at 1/4 MOA per click increments to improve your first-shot accuracy.

Optically, Vanguard employs a moderate 42mm objective lens that offers extended low-light performance without adding excessive bulk and weight to your weapon, so you can move easily through brush without spooking your prey. The scope utilizes Hoya extra-low dispersion glass that corrects aberrations, so views are clear and undistorted with accurate color as well as improved contrast, clarity, and antireflection MultiGuard lens coatings further improve light transmission. The large 30" maintube maximizes light throughput and is made of a light and durable aluminum alloy treated with an anodized finish for abrasion resistance and longevity. To withstand the harsh elements of the trail, the housing is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to make it waterproof, submersible, and resistant to internal fogging. Vanguard includes front and rear flip-up lens caps, so you can react quickly when opportunities present themselves, and for maximum protection you also get a neoprene scope cover.

Q: 4. This on work at night?

A: Its large (for a 10x42) 4.2mm exit pupil and relatively high twilight factor of 20.49 indicate that this binocular is capable of providing above-average performance in low-light situations, such as viewing at or near twilight, but does not really qualify as a “night glass,” such as a 7x50, which is optimized for that purpose.

Q: 5. Does this spotting scope accept standard 1.25" eye pieces?

Q: 6. What's the main difference between this Endeavor II model and the previous Endeavor?

A: Hello, Thanks for the question. The Endeavor ED II series ushers in a new era of superior optics from Vanguard. The previous generation Endeavor ED binoculars do not have HOYA ED Glass.

A: The Vanguard 10x42 Endeavor ED II Binoculars have an IPD measurement of 58-76mm. The vast majority of adult IPD lie within the range 63-76mm while the range for children is approximately 41-55mm.

A: The ED II binoculars have a high quality Japanese HOYA ED glass with a higher light transmission which results in better clarity and better viewing in low light conditions.

Q: 10. What is the close focus?

A: It's just over 6 feet.

[1x CR2032] I selected the Vanguard because of its superior design for eyeglass wearers, and that was a good decision. But I am really impressed with the quality of the image that it provides.
They seem to be great value for the money, well made, and as mentioned, a strong performer.
Thanks to B&H for pointing me to the Endeavor product line.

[42 mm] I am a birdwatcher and a longtime fan of the Vanguard ED series binoculars. I have the original non-Hoya glass 8 X 42 and 10 X 42 models and had it in my budget to try the latest 8 X 42 ED IV model with the promise to myself that if not considerably better than what I already have I will return. Would the Hoya ED glass and SK-15 prisms really WOW me? I didn't care about the new diopter location design but thought it convenient. Having just recently received these and trying them out the optics are perceptively better mostly in terms of slightly more brightness after some pondering. What made these a keeper for me was the $337 with B&H's credit card's $20 discount price and build quality and feel I could not refuse. The Vanguard Endeavor ED IV 8 X 42 model easily competes in the $600 - $800 binocular price class. Older Vanguard Endeavor ED glass models without SK-15 prisms bragging rights are nearly as good. Once focused on a bird no fine details missed with any of these Vanguard Endeavor ED offerings.

[42 mm] Although I've only been using these binoculars for a short time for nature and astronomy, my initial impression is very favorable and they've exhibited no significant vices. It has a very solid comfortable and attractive housing. The focusing mechanism is smooth, quick, free of backlash and has just the right amount of resistance. The optics are first-rate in every respect: they're sharp edge-to-edge with neutral but slightly warm color rendition; there's no barreling effect while panning or noticeable coma (using stars as targets), chromatic aberration, vignetting or flare. Contrast, image brightness and color rendition are all outstanding. The convenient center-locking diopter correction is easy to use and the close focus distance and field of view are very good. While the case is nice it's a tight fit for the binoculars, which make access a little slow. At this point I can't make any determination of the binocular's long-term durability but have no reason to question the quality. I have other much more expensive binoculars (Leica and Zeiss) but the Endeavor IVs will compete with them convincingly.

[2.41 lb] These binoculars work well with my glasses. I've had them about three weeks. Fit and finish are good. So far the 8 magnification has been a good choice for watching birds in a suburban neighborhood. I would recommend these to a friend.
