Designed by JBL Control 23-1 Indoor/Outdoor Speaker Pair Blackare two-way 3" indoor/outdoor monitors featuring weather-protected circuitry, natural and powerful representations of the frequency spectrum, black enclosures, and JBL's proprietary InvisiBall mounting hardware. This hardware allows you to install the speakers through a hidden access point behind its logo badge. As such, the Control 23-1 suitable for venues, health clubs, theme parks, cafes, or anywhere where foreground/background music—and paging—is a necessity.

These monitors are capable of handling 100W of programmatic material at 8 Ohms, and feature a built-in multi-tap transformer for operation on distributed speaker lines. With an SPL of 103 dB, you can blast these speakers pretty loudly as well, while their cone geometry ensures a pleasurable listening experience in both on- and off-axis situations. Additionally, their PEI diaphragms render a smooth high-frequency response. But sound is not the only consideration: Kapton voice coil formers, JBL's WeatherEdge rubberized extensions, and a durable cabinet construction provide protection against heat, rain, wind, or anything else the elements might throw at you in the coming years.

Also, while the Control 23-1 comes in a black finish, it doesn't have to stay that way: these speakers accept a variety of finishes and pigments to match any surrounding.

A: The JBL CSA 280Z Audio Amplifier (2 x 80W) B&H # JBCSA280Z would be a great choice, if you were using two of the JBL 67HC/T Narrow Coverage Pendant speakers at 8 ohms. If you are planning on installing several of the speakers, you can use the 70 volt transformers and tap them up to 60 watts each. In this case, the amp you require would be based on the total wattage needed when you add up the wattage of each speaker in your 70 volt system.

A: A 19 VDC / 3.42 A power supply is included. The power cord is about 8 feet long.

A: Unfortunately the speakers do not operate on Battery. It will require a Wall Outlet for operation. One speaker will have the power input to which it will amplify the other speaker connected with the packaged Speaker Wire.

A: It is 16 ohms per speaker.

Q: 9. Is it an active speaker

A: The Pyle PDWR52BTBK speaker that takes the power connection is active. It has outputs to connect to the 2nd speaker which is passive, so that the amplifier inside of the first speaker can power both speakers.

Q: 10. How do I wire the two speakers together--can I do it with standard speaker wire?

A: When purchased, the speakers come with the cable to connect the two speakers. The main speaker has a 1/4" speaker output, and the second speaker has bare wire clips.

[Passive] I purchased the JBL Control 23-1 speakers to replace some older bookshelf speakers that I had. These speakers sound great, when turned to a higher volume, especially with songs with low end frequencies and bass, there is a rattle/vibration, as if they are almost going to blow, however this can be fixed by turning down the bass. The speakers were very easy to mount on the wall. The speakers also look very good and don't stand out too much when mounted. Overall, a great product, I would definitely recommend these speakers for anyone in the market for a good pair of speakers. 5
