Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you print double sided on this paper?

A: I've just read three "No" answers to the question, "Can you print double sided on this paper?" But the paper in question is Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Book & Album paper (Short Grain, 8.5 x 11"), which is clearly described as "Double-Sided" and that means both sides can be printed. And to my personal knowledge it can be printed on both sides. That's why it's a good "Book" paper. The answer to the question is "Yes".

Q: 2. With the Canon Pro-100 printer, does the paper need to be fed through the manual feed tray?

A: That would be best, yes.

Q: 3. Does this paper have a matte service that will accept pencil signatures? Some of the glossier papers will not take pencil very well.

A: I use Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 frequently, one of the best papers ever made. I found it will not take a standard #2 pencil but it will take the following: a fine art soft lead pencil (i.e., Cretacolor Fine Art Graphite - 160- HB); a Stabilo #8008 ( paper, glass, plastic, metal ) pencil which looks like a #2 pencil and, for a darker look, a Stabilo #8046 which borders on a grease pencil look. The #8046 will smear so be careful. I spray (Hahnemuhle Protective Spray) after signing a print. For other papers, I title and sign the back of the print and then title and sign the matt board before the print goes under glass. The purchasor is assured they have a signed original print. Matt and framing can be an issue. I sometimes leave the signature under the image, especially when using Photo Rag Deckle Edge, and matt the print under the signature. Some customers prefer the matt to the edge of the image, so I title and sign under the image, matt over it, and then sign the matt.

Q: 4. Is the paper surface in the Photo Rag Book & Album heartier than the regular Photo Rag from Hahnemuhle? I find that surface very soft. In other words, will the Book & Album paper stand up to being handled?

A: The Photo Rag® Book & Album is exactly the same paper base as all of there Photo Rag® products. It is exactly the same surface. I hope this helps.

Q: 5. Is each sheet watermarked, with the company logo and have deckled edges ?thanks

A: There are no watermarks on this paper. The edges are smooth.

Q: 6. This listing does not tell how many sheets are in the box. 25 I will have to assume but you should really list what the product consists of.

A: This box contains 25 sheets of paper, and this is listed in the specifications section of the product page.

Q: 7. what is the profile of this paper? I use epson p800

A: The ICC profiles can be downloaded directly from Hahnemuhle's website.

Q: 8. Is there any difference in a quality of Photo Rag 308g vs 188g papers?

A: The image quality does not differ between the 2 papers. The only difference is the weight and thickness of the papers. So the visual interpretation may vary.

Q: 9. Are there 25 sheets in this pack?

A: Yes, 25 sheets per box (pack).

Q: 10. Does this paper stock come in any other sizes?

A: The Hahemuhle Photo Rag 188 g/m does come in other sizes. Here is a link to the other sizes we carry. http://bhpho.to/1eRE4Pv

[0.975 lb] Hahnemuhle is the standard for alternative printing. I use their papers for my platinum and albumen printing. If you are serious about platinum printing, this paper is a must to fully realize the full potential of your creative images.

[0.975 lb] As the name implies, this is wonderful paper for platinum and palladium printing. I like that you can use either side of the paper. I've also used it for cyanotype over platinum with good results.

[8 x 10"] I have used this for palladium printing. I find that to get good results I have to use more developer than originally recommended. I think this paper is fairly thick and absorbs a lot of the sensitizer. The results do look good, but certainly good to think about the slight extra quantity of sensitizer you may need to use. I find also the images are quite warm-tone, but that is also the nature of a palladium print.

[8 x 10"] High quality, smooth paper with a weight/gsm that holds up very well given the numerous washes required for me to produce the prints I make.

[0.975 lb] I recently purchased  the Hahnemuhle Platinum Rag Fine Art paper for a cyanotype project. It was a paper I saw being recommended for such alternative photography projects and I am very happy with the purchase. The paper is thick and heavy, perfect for cyanotype printing. The paper is expensive at $39.85 so I would recommend using cheaper paper for test prints and use the Hahnemuhle Platinum Rag for final prints.
