The A-Designs Hammer 2 EQ Equalizerfrom A-Designs Hammer 2 EQ Equalizeris a dual-mono, 3-band equalizer. Its filtering system passes musical 2nd order tube harmonics while eliminating unwanted noise. Hammer 2 EQ's overall frequency range covers 30 Hz to 40 kHz. Each channel features six detented rotary controls; three frequency selector knobs (Lo, Mid, Hi) which are stepped switches for easy recall, each with an accompanying gain knob providing continuously variable boost or cut of 12 dB.

Each band has a selectable center frequency, and overlaps with the other bands in such a way that makes for a clean transition throughout the entire spectrum. Each channel also features individual toggle switches for EQ In/Out as well as Lo Cut (84 Hz) and Hi Cut (8 kHZ) filters that allow engineers to perform utilitarian EQ chores while still being able to bring the full power. Mainly intended as a broad stroke equalizer, the HM2EQ's bandwidth (Q) is self-adjusting (floating), based on a combination of the amount of gain applied and the dynamics and frequency content of the program material.

Hammer 2 EQ Equalizer features tube-harmonic filtering circuit, a pair of 12AT7 tubes, and a custom heavy-duty toroidal power transformer. It also features a black, custom-milled, brushed faceplate sporting custom-milled aluminum control knobs, a heavy-duty Carling toggle power switch, and a big blue jewel power indicator lamp.

[>0.08 @ 1 kHz] I use a pair of the RPQ160b's for room resonance reduction. Very low harmonic distortion - didn't seem to add anything to the sound quality of my system. Great price given the functionality and sound quaility. 5

[Floating] Excellent EQ. Really astounded at how inexpensive it is. I use it in my bass rig, specifically to control around the 3k range. Makes a world of difference, and works like a much higher-end piece of gear (like those in the $2k range). Does not falsely color the tone in any way (I'm also a sound engineer / producer). 5

[Floating] I use the equalizer almost on a daily basis. The matching is superb and easily transforms into top quality sound. It's design, knobs and general feel is excellent. The B&H technical specs and description are accurate and complete. There is no aspect to be improved; it is a sturdy equipment. 5

[>0.08 @ 1 kHz] This is my solution for a rudimentary system for a workout room, with JBL monitors and subwoofer, this equalizer, a bluetooth connection for phone, and a CD player. New construction provided a 20' x 20' concrete block and concrete floor space for exercise. I added Nexel wire shelving, the above components, and it exceeds my expectations. I didn't need a complex and difficult to adjust graphic equalizer. The result is more than sufficient. 5

[>0.08 @ 1 kHz] This EQ has a lot of character and you will hear it very quickly even with very small adjustments. I've been using it very successfully on vocals along with the dbx560A compressor. Not a subtle, surgical, EQ. It definitely adds harmonic richness. 5

[10 lb (4.5 kg)] Does exactly what it is told. Hardly any noise until you crank level, of course. Very precise, very sensitive, very good.Not beautiful but it's extremely functional. The knobs are pretty sturdy, you could drop it a few times and be fine, pretty durable overall.I'm a bassist and I use it for eliminating room harmonics and buzz but also as a conventional eq, which it is also very effective at. Very defined lows, very rich mids, and singing highs. Puts the gain right where I need it for a little growl as well ;) In summary, a great product not only for it's price but probably 100s of dollars more. 5
