Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you recommend a good video on how to use the menu on the DMON-QUAD without hooking it up to a computer?

A: Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive video online of the DECIMATOR DMON-QUAD 4-Channel 3G-SDI Multiviewer walk-through about the menu adjustment via the device itself. The manual explains the various functions and can be viewed here, https://bit.ly/36Ri3Vr

Q: 2. Can I feed two video signals and get a half and half left to right screen display?

A: Hi James, This is Jules from Symbiosis, Decimator's Master Distributor for your territory. The DMON-QUAD allows you to create custom layouts that will let you resize and reposition the windows in a multi view. You can have any number of windows up to the number of inputs, in this case four. So it's straightforward to create a layout that puts two windows on screen next to each other centred vertically. The pictures will retain their aspect ratios so you will have some black space above and below the windows. I hope this helps. Jules

Q: 3. Can I output the camera shot(s) from the HDMI out (or SDI out) from the DECIMATOR DMON-QUAD to Zoom, via a Macbook Air with USB3 ports (with an HDMI to USB3 connector) or via a MacBook Pro M1 (with an HDMI to USB-C connector)? Or do I need some other device (like a Magewell USB Capture SDI Plus, One-Channel 2K Capture Device) to send the camera image(s) to zoom?

A: To have the HDMI or the 3G-SDI multiview output on the DECIMATOR DMON-QUAD 4-Channel 3G-SDI Multiviewer captured into a computer, one must use an HDMI or 3G-SDI to USB capture device. See capture device example below: https://bhpho.to/34DuVNB

Q: 4. can I run 1 input and have 1 output via hdmi and 1 outtput via sdi at the same time?

A: Yes, the four SDI inputs can be output simultaneously over the HDMI or SDI outputs.

Q: 5. Could this be used as a mini switcher? Needing to be able to go between two inputs using the buttons on the decimator without any break in signal to the output.

A: No. That would not be recommended, as this is not wired like a proper switcher and you will more than likely have a break in signal when switching from one source to the other.

Q: 6. Can any or all of the four inputs be resized or moved around? I am looking to creat custom layouts for live viewing purposes of multiple cameras at once. A simple quad won't always do. For instance, I may just want one large main image with a smaller image in the top corner, but not overlapping the main. or a main image with three smaller ones on the right.

A: Hi There, This is Jules from Product Support at Symbiosis, the master distributor for Decimator in North America and Europe. The four hardware inputs can be routed to any of four windows, which can be resized and repositioned to any size or location as long as they comply with the following rules: The windows need to fit within the overall dimensions of the output resolution in use and only Window 1 can have other windows overlapping it. I hope this helps but if you would like more information or need a hand setting it up when it arrives feel free to contact us at support@symbiosis.com. Kind Regards Jules

Q: 7. Does anyone know if this device will de-embed audio when using this as a SDI to HDMI converter? I know there are smaller/cheaper products that do this but I like the versatility of having a multiviewer as well.

A: Hi Andrew, This is Jules from product support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor for your region. The DMON-Quad will pass embedded audio from any of the four inputs to both SDI and HDMI outputs. When in multi-viewer mode, you can select which input's audio is passed to the outputs. When viewing an input as full-screen the audio from that input is passed. It does not have a separate audio only output. I hope this helps but if you need more information please feel free to contact us on support@symbiosis.com. Kind regards Jules

Q: 8. Can I input 2x alexa mini LF outputting 4k signals and will it convert it into 1080p60 for live streaming to clients?

A: This cannot take a 4K signal.

Q: 9. Can this take PAL as an input?

A: Yes, the DMON-QUAD 4-Channel Multiviewer does accept PAL format signals, such as 1080p resolution at 50 fps.

Q: 10. Does this come with a power cable?

A: Hi Jose, This is Jules from product support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor for your region. The DMON-Quad ships with a worldwide power supply in the box, it has a locking DC plug to connect to the DMON-Quad. I hope this helps. Kind regards Jules

[0.67 lb] The features of the Decimator DMON QUAD is absolutely incredible. I have my three cinema cameras hooked up to it and Im outputting to a older pc monitor. I own several monitors but wanted to make use of a older DVI only input monitor so bought a dvi to hdmi cable. At first the monitor wouldnt recognize the signal but the Decimator has a selectable output option one of which is DVI. Who would have thought? Works like a charm.

I havent yet connected the Decimator to my pc to create custom window layouts but the default layouts are perfect for what I need. The Decimator DMON QUAD outputs 1080p or lower resolutions. Thats not a problem at all! All of my recording is done in camera or on a dedicated recorder at higher resolutions. I purchased the Decimator as a multiview for a directors monitor. I can choose between having fullscreen for any input and switching between them or having two, three, or four screens up all at once. I can also choose to have one large and two small, etc. This is all through the buttons on the front of the device and come as default. There are endless settings in there for input and output, framerate and everything else. They thought of everything. The compatibility is amazing.

I was amazed to find that there is virtually no lag from my cameras to the monitor. Even when all screens are up. Everything displays in realtime. You can tell they used quality electronics inside the device. The device itself is made out of aluminum and is extremely durable and very well built. I originally thought it was made of red plastic until I received it. The features and settings suit any and every situation.

[0.67 lb] Does what it says and then some. While there are a lot of configurations that can be setup through the display, setting the unit up with the configuration software allows for a seemingly infinite number of custom configurations.

[1 x SDI] This quad multiviewer is awesome. I love decimator design products. It has so much versatility. UMD, tally, audio monitoring. The only negative is it isn't easily manipulated to make a layout. The default layouts are decent but if you want to be able to change a layout design on the fly this isn't your guy. I still give it 5 stars. There is quite a lot of versatility in this little package.
