A: The Losmandy DVWS 2.5 lb Counterweight System (BH # LODVWS) is designed specifically for Losmandy's larger D-series and smaller V-series plates. It would be purely coincidental if there is compatibility with Celestron mounts.

A: The Vixen Optics 6.2 lb (2.8 kg) SX Counterweight - (White), has a 20.2 mm (0.80”) bore diameter, that widens to 24.3 mm (0.95”) on the bottom half.

Q: 3. Can it be mounted on CGEM tripod?

A: I don't think so and I don't know why you would want to. It's going to perform best as a complete design. The legs that come with it are rock solid and the it has individual bubble levels for E/W and N/S instead of one of those maddening 'central bubble' levels on my other mount.Also, if you're going to use the Gemini 2 control system, the mounting bracket for that is on the top part of the tripod legs.

A: Yes, the Losmandy Dovetail Saddle Plate for GM-8 & Takahashi Mounts accepts the standard large Losmandy D-series and the smaller V-series (Vixen-style) dovetail plates.

A: The iOptron 5.5 lb Counterweight for iEQ45/CEM60 EQ Mounts BH #IO802705 • MFR #8027-05 has a 1.1" hole and should work on the CEM70G shaft.

Q: 9. The title says 11" but the drawing shows 7". Which is it?

A: It will be corrected The B&H and the manufacture product code indicate an 11" plate

Q: 10. Can a finder mount screw ontu the underside of this mount? I want to undersling my guide camera which uses a finder mount.

A: We are not aware of the exact product you are looking to use with this, however it has holes for screws on both the top and bottom.

[3.47 lb] Purchased this for my C6 and C8 which ride on manual alt-az mounts. This simple counterweight system is nicely engineered, adjustable, fits Vixen and Losmandy D rails and works very well on both SCTs. 5

[3.47 lb] Very Helpful in Balancing OTAs in DEC. I have used these at the rear of dovetail plates to offset nose-heavy refractors, and in the front to offset butt-heavy SCTs. With the long, nose-heavy refractors, it enables the OTA to be higher up on the saddle and keep the camera from hitting the tripod while pointing toward the zenith. The shorter screw is needed to keep from hitting my mount head. 5

[3.47 lb] I now run a dovetail plate on top of the scope rings on my heavier telescopes, which provides a handle. Adding this item allows easier balancing of the scope when changing eyepieces by sliding forward or back along the top plate without having to loosen rings or sliding main dovetail plate on mount. 5

[3.47 lb] The Losmandy, counterweight system is just the ticket to balancing your Telescope when using heavy eyepieces, filter wheels an such.It works perfect with Celestron, CGX dove tail plates. 5

[3.47 lb] I added this counter weight to the bottom of my Celestron C11 dovetail plate. By sliding the CW back and forth I can balance my DEC axis when changing from very heavy 2” eyepiece to light weight 1.25” eyepieces. This CW configuration is just right the whole thing is about 2.5 lb and the CW screw is only 2.5” long so it will not get in the way when the DEC axis rotates. Also the CW is made to use on both D-style and V-style dovetail plate/bar. Excellent accessory to help balance your telescope setup. 5
