The Wooden Camera Ultra Arm Ball Hot Shoe Mountis compatible with the Ultra Ball system and can swap places with one of the original ends with a threaded stud, or you can combine it with other Ultra Arm accessories to create a custom rig. This Ultra Arm Ball features a hot shoe mounting foot that enables mounting this onto your camera or any device with a hot/cold shoe.

Q: 1. Has anyone mounted this on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera?

A: This particular handle is for an ARRI ALEXA. The screws I would believe would not match up. I would suggest the following handle instead. This handle is made for the BMCC. Yes it is more expensive but Wooden Camera makes outstanding quality items and once on set you will appreciate in the long run the ability of swiftly changing the handle.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the "RED DAMC2 Tactical Top Plate"?

A: The Wooden Camera Master Top Handle for RED DSMC2 (Main Handle Section) BH #WO248800 • MFR #248800 is compatible with the WC DSMC2 Top plate.

Q: 3. Will this handle (in either orientation) get in the way of still photography, ie hit your forehead, if you leave the handle on the hot shoe?

A: While you can get your eye in there, head hitting will be likely.

Q: 4. Anyone know if this would fit on the Walimex Pro Univeral Cage?

A: Outside of the 15mm rod spacing and the use of 1/4 and 3/8 holes, there are no standards to camera rigs and manufacturers are free to design the way they see fit. Unfortunately, we cannot say if this will work as you ask. Hopefully someone will be able to report to this.

Q: 5. Is the hole spacing also compatible with the "RED DSMC2 TACTICAL TOP PLATE" or only with the WC DSMC2 Top plate ?

A: Since this uses a NATO international standard type rail to attach the handle to the rig, odds are very favorable that it is indeed compatible.

A: The Wooden Camera Complete Arca-Swiss Style Top Mount Kit for RED KOMODO and RED Komodo Outrigger Handle cannot be mounted together.

A: 1) As useful as you might need them. You can't expect to use them for many things at the same your trying to carry your camera, but they do come handy when you have your camera on tripod only shoots, like interviews, and you the need to add some small accessories.2) If I had to chose one word for this item: High Quality (thats two). Aside from the wooden label, everything is hard, solid steel. Quality is on par with Zacuto.3) No. I bought Zacuto's 3 rail and they both paired very nicely.4) Very comfortable. Will fit for almost any type of camera handling you might need. I use it for my GH4 rig (7 monitor, cage, dslr baseplate, rods and EF glass) and can't be happy enough. For my needs its a perfect fit.I don't regret buying this. Hope it helps.

Q: 9. Are hot shoes designed to support the weight of the camera and lens hanging from it?

A: Hi William. The intention of this handle is for lightweight camcorder and DSLR camera setups. That said, a hot shoe mount can support heavier cameras depending on the application. If you would like to discuss this further you may email us directly with camera and lens information.

Q: 10. Is this ballhead the same size as Kondor Blue's?

A: Both the Kondor Blue and Wooden Camera Ultra Arm Ball are standard 1" ball size and compatible.

[3.3 x 1.7 x 1"] Feels great in your hand. Highest quality finish that doesn’t scratch. Very solid and has many mounting options for accessories. I love the fact that it screws in very tight and even comes with a wrench to tighten it more. My first product from Wooden Camera and I will definitely be buying more items from this great company. 5

[0.1 lb] This is not the best or innovative handle on the market, but one that I enjoy the look and feel of each day I use it. Much of camera work is finding efficiencies and tools that help make the experience more enjoyable, and this little handle makes it just that. I like the attention to detail that makes this work in my FX9 ecosystem, and that to me speaks volumes about the design and cleverness that went into this product. 5

[3.3 x 1.7 x 1"] I have two of these because they are that good. Out of all the top handles released for the Komodo, I keep coming back to this because it's A) Practical B)Solid and C) provides built in top rod mounts so I can mount a motor for Low profile configurations. I've used pretty much all of the available Komodo top handles and this is the only top handle I see handle a tough work environment. 5

[0.1 lb] I'm working on an intensive personal project this year and decided to build up a sled system for my SONY FS-100. Basis for the sled is a Berkey System with rails and a Berkey top cheese plate. The NATO handle is mounted on a quick release NATO rail on the top cheese plate. A Rycote INV-HQ mkIII shock mount is mounted on top of the NATO handle and holds a Sennheiser MKH-50 mic with a Cinela LEO Ball and fur for wind suppression. I can easily remove the handle with the mic intact and store in my Orca case for transport. The entire rig without a follow focus or matte box tips the scale slightly over 11 pounds, so having a solid handle is every bit of a necessity as much a convenience. The Wooden Camera NATO system is not only well designed and versatile but it has a flawless build quality. I've hand built a custom Harley from the ground up so I know quality machining when I see it. Easily mounted forward or backward position and has so many possible options for mounting and positioning other items on it. Super easy to remove from the NATO quick release rail. Wooden Camera customer service is second to none and I always have had prompt--if not immediate--responses to any questions. A top notch product from a top notch company that deserves your consideration and support. This is a perfect example that you get what you pay for in terms of quality and service. 5
