The push-on, open-cell foam, 5cm Super-Softie Windshield from Rycote is designed for shotgun microphones ranging from 0.74 to 0.87 inches (19 to 22mm) in diameter. It comes with a 3D-Tex fabric covering for unparalleled sonic performance, wind-noise suppression, and field durability. It has a rubber end cap where the microphone is inserted that creates a non-slip seal. This windshield provides low-end wind attenuation performance.

[0.5 lb] Unless you need to record audio on the beach during a hurricane this Rycote Super Softie will protect against wind noise on most windy days. It is well build, easy to put on/remove from the microphone and it is attractive. 5

[11 x 4.4 x 4.4"] My favorite mic for interrior dialog and interviews is the MKH50, and with this Super-Softie on it, I can now also use it outdoors. I have (so far) only tried it in moderate wind conditions, but it seems to work quite well. Very happy. 5

[1] It works better than the accessory mount that comes with the XF305. It is in two pieces -- the attachment to the camera, and a shotgun shock mount. The mounting bracket attaches directly to the camera in the same place that the Canon accessory mount does, but it is a smaller scale and so can be kept on the camera permanently without danger of loss or damage. The shotgun shock mount attaches to it. It's a very good design. 5

[Black] I use this on my Sennheiser MKH 50, which is excellent for dialogue but horrible with wind noise. This Super Softie cut the noise. Recommended to anyone wanting to extend muc use outside or on wind 5

[Black] I use a Sanken stereo shotgun mic (CMS-10). This mount replaces the original Panasonic microphone mount - which cannot be used - as the Sanken can be seen at 24mm setting. Using this mount pushes the Sanken further away from the body - and now the mic now no longer appears in the video. 5
