The 1231 is dual channel, 31 band 1/3 octave graphic equalizer. It was designed to meet the needs of the most demanding sound reinforcement environments, while offering the simplicity of straightforward controls.

The sliders of the 1231 are 45mm center detent, with two selectable boost/cut ranges for precise gain adjustments. The unit features high pass filters with bypass, active balanced input and output connections, chassis/signal ground lift capabilities for quick hum isolation and an internal power supply. Multiple input and output configurations are provided for ease of use. The XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors use active balanced, low noise circuitry, with the addition of barrier strips.

The 1231 was precision engineered to provide years of maintenance-free operation in any application. The magnetically isolated transformer, RF-filtered inputs and outputs, and power-off hard-wire relay bypass with two second power up delay, ensures compatibility with all types of installations.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you use the XLR input and 1/4 inch input of the same input at the same time and have them sum to a single output?

A: Either the XLR or 1/4" input connectors can be used for balanced or unbalanced connections to the dbx AFS2 Dual-Channel Advanced Feedback Suppression Processor. Using both inputs on a channel at the same time is not recommended because it could unbalance balanced lines, cause phase cancellation, short a conductor to ground, or cause damage to other equipment that is connected to the AFS2. Therefore, it is best to use only one input connector per channel.

Q: 2. Can this device be used with line-level inputs (I think that's the correct term), like from a CD player? Thanks

A: Yes, this equilizer allows for balanced XLR line level or unbalanced RCA stereo line level inputs. A CD player would connect throught the RCA inputs.

Q: 3. Can this operate in both a 110 and 220 Volt environment?

A: You would require a compatible step up/step down transformer to be able to use this outside of North America.

Q: 4. Does the Bellari EQ570 come with a power supply?

A: Yes, the Bellari EQ570 4-Band Audio Equalizer ships with a PS27s 15V Power Supply.

Q: 5. is it possible to completely attenuate the output signal by turning the level controls completely counter-clockwise?

A: The rotary controls on the ART EQ341 are input level controls to adjust the signal level of the audio going into the EQ341. These controls are not output volume level controls.

Q: 6. I’m wondering if this could work in conjunction with my numark m2 mixer. I know sometimes two pre amp/eq/mixers don’t work together. I’d be using potentially two of these when I DJ. Trying to cut the piercing highs on some of my old records.

A: That is a powered EQ. There is really no way you can hook it up to that mixer to isolate just the turntable out. You need a passive graphic EQ which you would have to put on the mixer out. Then into your speakers. But you will have the EQ across the entire output.

Q: 7. Do the rack mount plates come off?

A: No it doesn't come off. They are a continuous part of the front plate and not separate.

Q: 8. what is the power voltage of this item.. is it 220 or 110?

A: 120 VAC 60 Hz Power consumption: 24 Watts

Q: 9. How does this parametric EQ compare with other units?

A: The RDL FP-PEQ3 - 3-Band Parametric Equalizer in Compact Enclosure is unique in its form factor, terminal block wiring connectivity, and application, among other variables.

Q: 10. Can this work integrated amp & turntable?

A: If your turntable has a built-in phono pre-amp, then yes, you could connect this EQ between the turntable and line inputs on the amp. If not, you would need an additional phono preamp to connect to the turntable, before connecting to the EQ. Here's a suggestion BH #BEVP549.

[2] This dbx EQ has a very low noise floor. It also has plenty of options for in and out jacks. Simple to use, good quality output.

[13.84 lb] There are a lot of mixed reviews on here, so I was a bit cautious of purchasing. I only have one, and have only had it a day, so I can't speak to reliability, but it seems solid and well built.

I tested this running one channel, high level, from a mixer through this to the power amp, with the other channel running direct. With the levels set to 0 gain, there's no audible difference between the channel run through the EQ and that which was direct. There's also no additional noise between the two channels, which leads me to believe the 94dB S/N ratio is conservative.

Band adjustments seems reasonable, and the high/low sensitivity is nice. I didn't check for power on pops, but there aren't any pops or clicks when going to bypass, although it is audible.

The only negative I found is that the outputs seem to clip a bit before the lights go on. To do that requires a hot input source, and turning up the channel gain quite a bit. It seems to have a lot of headroom, so this isn't too much of an issue.

This is a simple analog unit, and anyone doing serious EQ for live sound, recording, etc., is going to go digital, but if you LIKE simple analog EQs, this would be hard to beat.

[2] My Tascam CD-400U CD player doesn't have variable output. So I put this between it and a Crown XLS 402 (that does have "volume" knobs on the front). The ART equalizer's level controls allow me to effectively lower the output signal to a level that my Crown can work with. So if you were wanting an EQ that will also (help) control your system's volume, I can tell you that in my case it DOES do that. Very happy with purchase.

[13.84 lb] The hearing is going, so I rigged it up with a headphone amp with headphones to watch (and now I can hear!) TV. Never had a pro EQ before, but for my purpose this is an A1 buy.

[2] We use these for live sound at corporate events, we bought new ones to replace some we've had for several years. I like the larger throw on the 1231, makes it a little more precise. No noise that anyone notices, sturdy and reliable. The only thing I could even think to add would be feedback detection, but with RTAs it's great.
