If you do choose to use these filters with a DSLR shooting in black and white, you will need to set a custom white balance as well, as the camera will see the green/red/yellow and try to correct for them in auto white balance or other preset white balance modes. Additionally, another option you can try is to shoot your images in RGB mode, and then in post production, particularly in Adobe Photoshop, add a B&W layer or a Channel Mixer layer to obtain a more accurate black and white image. A circular polarizer will work as well.
