Draw more attention to your subject with a circular spot of focus surrounded by a beautifully blurred background by using the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic, available here with a Micro Four Thirds mount. This updated tool is completely compatible with the established Optic Swap System and can use any of the numerous optics available. This version improves upon the original Pro model by featuring a metal body as well as an improved tilt function that ranges from 0-15° in any direction.

Bundled with it is the Sweet 50, offering a medium telephoto field of view on a Micro Four Thirds camera, with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 100mm. This curved field optic differs from your standard lens by creating a spot of focus when tilted that can be manipulated in position by tilting the Composer and manipulated in size by manually changing the aperture from f/2.5 to 22. The optic also offers manual focus as close as 15" from your subject. Additionally, the Sweet 50 has a 46mm filter thread as well as an internal 12-blade diaphragm for extra smooth out-of-focus areas.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have the composer pro ii in both canon and fuji mounts, and in both the lens is very hard to tilt even with the ring loosened. is this normal?

A: Hi Christie, we already corresponded via email. If you open and close the tension ring a few times and still have trouble, please send it in to us at Lensbaby and we will fix it for you.

Q: 2. Is this a good place to start to use Lensbaby lenses to photograph interesting close ups of flowers? I have a Nikon D7500.

A: I will try as best I can. I am an amateur myself here are a few suggestions. First, what your talking about is macrophotography and while Lens Baby lenses can do this type of photography from what I know they are more specialty lenses. The Composer Pro as well as other lenses by "Lens Baby" let you change the point of focus. I myself prefer to use a good macro lens One technique I plan on using is called HDR photography. Photoshop has a limited capability which I plan on experimenting with. My first results are good but depending on you budget you can get other plug ins. My own philosophy is to use high quality macro optics and then use automated focusing rails (my future plans). Art(which photography is) is matter of creativity so you have to decide what is right for you and then get the right equipment based on your budget.

Q: 3. Is the lensbaby compatible with the Nikon D3300?

A: I own the Composer for Canon.. However, I think the D3300 has a standard Nikon F mount.. So, Yes it should work..

Q: 4. What is the thread size on the Lensbaby Sweet 50 optic?

A: 46mm front threads

Q: 5. Can I use any brand of 46mm filter on the front of this lens or does it have to be a Lensbaby brand filter?

A: Any standard 46mm filter should fit the Lensbaby Sweet 50 Optic for Composer Pro.

Q: 6. Will this work with the older Composer Pro?

A: Lens baby does not list on the Lensbaby Sweet 50 Optic for Composer Pro one way or the other if this works with an older version of the Composer Pro. If you have a Composer Pro it technically should work.

Q: 7. I currently have a D5300 DX format camera. I want to buy a Lensbaby 50 but I want to ensure I can also use it on a full frame because I plan to up grade my camera in the next year to an Nikon 850?

A: The Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic works great on both a crop sensor and full-frame camera.

Q: 8. Can this lens be used with a Metabones Nikon F Speedbooster?

A: Hi Andrew, You should be able to use the Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic with the Metabones Speedbooster with little to no loss of function!

Q: 9. We shoot both Canon and Nikon in my house. Is it safe to assume tht the optics are interchangeable regardless of camera body mount?

A: If you have a Lensbaby lens mount designed for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System, and have one for each camera brand (one for Nikon, one for Canon), then yes, the Sweet 50 Optic included with the Lensbaby Composer Pro II can be interchanged between lens mounts. The current lens mounts that are compatible for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System would be the Lensbaby Spark, Lensbaby Straight Body, and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II lens mounts.

Q: 10. Compatible with canon 7d mark I I?

A: Yes, any of our Canon mounted lenses will be compatible with your camera. They will work in aperture priority mode and your in-camera light meter should work.

[f/2.5] I bought this lens for the special effect possibilities and the flexibility to change different focal lengths. Note: There is a learning curve to using this lens ... when it is most effective ... or not. This is my second Lensbaby lens ... the other is a Circular Fisheye ... and super fun. Lensbaby lens are very good quality, produce excellent image and low priced ... I think of them as the lens you buy AFTER you have your basic lens. Lensbaby make fun lens for creative images. There lens are manual focus only ... and you set the aperture ... therefore it requires the photographer to think ... and slow down ... and that is part of the fun in using the lens.

[Manual Focus] I use my Sweet 50 on a Scout body to do tabletop photography and have tried both #1 and #2 close up lenses with it for close work. Both combinations work well. I like the Sweet 35 also but the 50 gives me better separation from the b'ground. With the manual focus magnifier of my Pentax K-3 it works great.

[46 mm (Front)] This is a nice addition to the Lensbaby swappable optics lineup and complements the Sweet 35 and Edge 80. It is nice to have aperture controls built into the lens. Quality is very good.

[46 mm (Front)] I already own the Lensbaby Composer Pro with Sweet 35 and Edge 80 Optics. It took some practice and getting used to; but once I did, I had a lot of fun with these lenses and took some great portraits with them. I was excited to hear about the Sweet 50, as it's a great portrait focal length, especially for those with APS-C cameras like I have, so added it to my collection.Remember, this lens is completely manual, so you may need to dial-in the focal length and aperture into your camera's menu settings so they they are recorded in the resulting file's metadata; and/or carefully watch the manual focus and exposure cues in your viewfinder/LCD display. The key is to slow down. But get those right, and the results are some lovely, narrow sweet spot focus (depth of field) with deliciously smooth bokeh falling away from it. It's not in the same league as the far more expensive prime lenses out there: there are some amazing pieces of glass that can do this too. But tilt the Lensbaby lens around and things really get fun, with different areas/planes of focus with some diorama effects.

[46 mm (Front)] I am shooting this lens on my Leica M10R with an adapter ring. I can get reasonably sharp focus in the sweet spot but the best feature of this lens is the control of the bokeh and focus fall off creating beautiful dreamy artistic images. I wish I had purchased years ago!

[0.68 lb] Lensbaby works so hard to give you contorl over focus and tilt, it's almsot a shame the Sweet 50 is so shar\p at f16. But w great lens to have in the bag when you feel like having a bit of fun.
