Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this cable allow for both L/R channels to remain separate (allowing a L/R panned mix to stay L/R when input to a DSLR)?

A: Yes, it's designed to take a stereo signal and split it into separate L&R outputs. Best regards, Hosa Support.

Q: 2. My JBL audio speakers are separated 43 inches approx. What is the distance between each TRS connecter in this cable??

A: This cable will not seperate this will not work with your speakers setup

Q: 3. how long is the length of cable from the XLR connectors to where they meet?

A: Hi Greg, the length of cable between the XLR connection to where they both meet is approximately 16 inches.

Q: 4. Is this cable meant to split a stereo signal into separate left and right channels, or does it send the same stereo signal across both left and right? The word 'stereo' in the title and the fact that the 1/4 ends are color coded is whats confusing me.

A: This cable features a stereo 3.5mm jack that splits to 2 mono 1/4 connectors. There are a few uses for this cable. If you feed the 3.5mm jack a stereo signal it will give you left on one of the 1/4 jacks and right side on the other.

Q: 5. ... each TRS connecter in this cable??

A: Hi Jose, The two "Y" ends of this cable meet in the center. In the case of the 6-foot cable, they would meet roughly at 3 feet. This was a change we made after the product was released. That means models that were previously purchased may be different and have a shorter split. Thank you for considering Hosa for your connectivity needs. Best regards, Hosa Support Team

Q: 6. If the signal is sent to two powered studio monitors, how far apart can they be from each other?

A: The monitors can be 3 feet apart if the cable is 3 feet long. I'm not sure that answers your question, because your question is a bit unclear -

Q: 7. Will this cord work with an iPad for shooting video?

A: No! It will send you audio signal to where ever you plug it in, which would have to be that accepts XLR connectors. This is an audio cable and will not work with digital video, unless you are transferring or sending the audio signal which can be separated from the video with pro equipment. Based on your question, you probably are not a professional. By the way, the industry term is cable . Cord refers to lamp cord, or what's called zip cord. It's used on all sorts of consumer products, but is not suitable for anything other than the power source, that is plugging into an electrical outlet.

Q: 8. How will the tracks record if this was used with a DJI Mic system (two mics and one receiver) connected to a Zoom recorder via 3.5mm to dual XLR?

A: In theory it should work. The DJI receiver has a 3.5mm unbalanced TRS jack so that should split ok to two separate channels on your Zoom with this adapter. I've not tried that personally, but seems like it would work.

Q: 9. If this is used with a pair of mics, will the recorded signal from each be blended, or will the two signals be hard panned left and right?

A: Never tried it. I've always used these for getting stereo output from an iPad or iPod into a console. Sorry I couldn't answer your question.

Q: 10. how long is the length of cable from the XLR connectors to where they meet?

A: the 6' cable splits in half (3') where the mini plug end breaks into the 2 xlrs

[Rean] This was a good solution to using the Rode SVM for voice overs recording through the Audient iD14. Now I have a Blue Spark. The photo was before I bought the cable when I had solo channel audio from a stereo mic, due to using a XLR adapter. After the adapter, the sound was louder and better. But, not as good as the Blue Spark :) of course.

[Silver] I'm a mobile DJ and plan to use this cable with a compact DJ controller that only has a 3.5mm main output. I love that the XLR connections have locking slots to keep them secure to whatever they're connected to and that every connection throughout the cable seems very durable (especially at the Y). The rubber feels nice and soft and winds up nicely. I haven't had a chance to plug it in and listen for any noise yet. So far i'm very impressed with it's quality and features for the price.

[Rean] this works great with my wireless lav receiver that combines 2 channels of audio into a stereo output. This cable isolates the two channels so I can record the channels separately into a recorder.
