Sony RM-30BP Wired Remote Controller for Camerasfeatures a compact form and can control most of the functions of your compatible NX5R, FS7 (v4.0), or FX6 camera, as well as a slew of other Sony cameras and camcorders. The remote enables control of the one-push auto, manual focus, iris, and zoom of your lens. It also allows you to control the recording/display functions of your camera, as well as shutter speed and white balance adjustment. You can assign six buttons on the controller and control the functions and playback of up to three cameras, individually or simultaneously.

The remote incorporates an adjustment knob that can be set to control your camera's focus, iris, or electronic ND selection (if your camera features electronic ND). At the bottom of the unit is a zoom rocker with a protective bar to help prevent accidental activation. You can daisy-chain together two RM-30BP units, allowing either remote to control your camera. You can also connect the remote to a Sony MCX-500, allowing for that switcher to control up to three cameras.

A green status display on the unit indicates the condition of the connected and selected cameras. The unit also incorporates red/green record LEDs for each of the three cameras you may be connected to.

Focus: Pressing the center of the adjustment knob temporarily activates autofocus adjustment (PUSH AUTO FOCUS). Please note that the rotation and speed of the focus adjustment will vary depending on the camcorder being used. You can change the direction of the focus knob if you wish.
Electronic ND: If the connected camcorder has an electronically switchable ND filter you can adjust the density of the ND filter by using the adjustment knob.
Iris: Please note that the rotation and speed of the iris adjustment will vary depending on the camcorder being used. You can change the direction of the iris knob if you wish.

The zoom rocker is protected from incidental activation by a protective bar. You can adjust the speed and direction of the zoom lever on the unit.

Camera: The remote features three camera ports, allowing you to control up to three cameras either individually or simultaneously. Additional cables, not included, are required for this configuration.
The option connector enables connecting the RM-30BP to an MCX-500.
Remote: This connector allows you to daisy-chain two units together.

[1.85 lb] I have three of these controllers. It is a wonderful improvement to the older one, However, The manual does not have an index. It is pretty difficult to navigate the logic of the various control menus. 5

[1.85 lb] I hear people comment online. A joke. Over priced. You just don't know, until you try. This a great remote. Yes! It cost a lot to have this fine tool. �Let me say! Having all the menu functions on the controller is really smart. Cameras, like the HXR NX80, and PXW Z90, will greatly ease the lack of easy access, to functions like the Menu button at the front of the camera. A great asset when mounted on a tripod, which is it's use. The new cameras, have full control with this one remote.� �Those with a Sony HXR NX100, will love it. Not having to reach to the top of the camera, to use the function menu, with those small not very tactile buttons will make it a breeze. The NX100 you don't have total control of the camera, but having access to menu system from the remote makes using this camera so much better, and it's a great camera. You can not, adjust the Gain, and the Shutter from the remote with the NX100 all other controls work. You can make it Auto and Locked, but no adjust for those two functions. Look over the Compatibility chart. The remote is big, and stated not dust proof or water proof. At this expense why not? It's a superb remote. Lights are missing on most remotes. This lights up letting you know it's recording, letting you know which camera is being adjusted and more.. 5

[1.85 lb] Sony RM 30BP is a tool that allows one person to control many cameras. Many of Sony's camera work perfect with the remote, some will have full control of the camera. The ability to change setting in camera with this controller is a must when your in a rush. Using in a multiple camera setup with one remote is not ideal. Multiple camera and multiple remotes is ideal. The downside is cost and Sony needs to address the issue of the remotes being slightly defective. When zooming out slowly, sometime the remote will continue to zoom out unless assisted to stop. Bad for such a high priced remote control. Plus it would of been great if the buttons were backlit, making changes a dark room is really challenging. I have 2 remotes looking to add 2 more, but have had bad luck with finding good ones, without the defect as described above. All the ones bought from B&H have been good. Other sellers not so. B&H the greatest.. 5

[1.85 lb] This makes the operation of Sony PTZ's so much easier with many of the main function's at your fingertips. Designed for the latest series of camera's but i'm using this with BRC H700's, Some function's are not available with the H700's but hopefully Sony will make more happen with a firmware update. 5

[1.85 lb] I used this controller with the BRC-H800 cameras. Very smooth movement and able to follow talent on stage easily. Controls are very straight forward. Auto iris and focus work very well. Able to set GPI to output closure to force monitor to follow selected camera. GPI is either tally in OR camera selected out. Worked fine for me with new Decimator quad view box using gpi input. Cameras able to do 1080p 59.94 level A or B. I still need to do the software update on the cameras for Trace Memory operation. Even without it, I really like this set up. Able to get very pro looking video, almost like a manned camera. The only thing I would like to see is the ability to go a bit slower on zoom so I can get push/pull shots straight on. I could get the pan slow enough to creep. Looked great. To be fair, I haven't used the latest software yet, but will soon. Solid feeling controller. Pretty easy to learn, once set up. I have not used a PTZ camera setup before, but I really liked using this set up. 5
