Nine faders, nine MIDI buttons and eight encoders line the top of the control panel. Each control is fully programmable to send any MIDI CC message for use with hardware or software MIDI products. Used with Nektar DAW integration, the controls provide seamless but flexible operation over most DAWs. Personalized settings can be stored in any of the five Impact LX+ presets for recall at any time. If you switch Null on, any parameter values are stored when you change presets so you avoid parameter jumping.

For groove and beat creation, this keyboard boasts eight velocity-sensitive pads, calibrated to trigger at a light touch, and suitable for finger-drumming, providing an even velocity response. Each pad can be assigned any MIDI note number or MIDI CC message for use as a MIDI trigger or to toggle buttons. The "Pad Learn" function allows for easy assignment: simply select a pad, play the note or drum sound you want on the keyboard, and the assignment is completed. Assignments are stored over power cycling so you don't lose your settings when you switch your system off. In addition, four pad-map locations can store settings for future recall.

Press mixer and the first eight faders are assigned to control the eight channels of your DAW's mixer. The alternate Bank up/down function moves control assignments to the next or previous group of 8 channels. The 9th fader is assigned to the currently selected channel so you always know where to find it. The buttons under the faders follow the channel assignment of their corresponding fader, controlling Mute or Solo and Pan (via eight associated pots). Fader 9 is used for control volume of the current mixer channel as well as master volume. The MIDI controller also offers shortcuts for opening and closing your DAW's mixer window.

As a low-powered USB device, this keyboard works with all USB devices that feature a Class-compliant MIDI driver. You can also hook the keyboard to an Apple iPad using the iPad's optional USB camera-connection kit (available separately).

Bitwig 8-Track is included with your purchase, giving you access to over 50 software instruments and effects for use on up to eight audio or MIDI tracks, and providing third-party plug-in support as well. Bitwig also offers a selection of loops, clips, and samples.

Supports multiple DAWs right out of the box including Reason, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, GarageBand, Sonar, Bitwig, Reaper, FL Studio, Studio One, Digital Performer (installation required).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello. Can this be played as a stand alone piano with inbuilt voices or it's solely a keyboard controller?

A: The Nektar Technology Impact LX49+ is a MIDI controller only.

Q: 2. Does this midi come with the bag/ soft case on the image?

A: Bag /soft case not included.

Q: 3. THIS PRODUCT IS NEW?

A: All items in our inventory are new unless clearly stated otherwise on the item's page, or if you are searching on the Used section of our website.

Q: 4. The description says the item is non-cancelable, and non-returnable. I am thinking seriously of buying one, but am confused about how a non-returnable item has a limited 1yr warranty. Is this not a contradiction, somehow?

A: Most electronics nowadays carry a limited 1 year warranty. The non-cancelable, non-returnable restriction is because the StudioLogic SL88 Studio is not a regularly stocked product, and because it would be ordered for a specific customer, and not the general public, it can not be returned.

Q: 5. Are the rotary controls on this continuous encoders, or pots that stop at each end?

A: The rotary controls on the Nektar Technology Impact LX49+ 49-Key USB MIDI Controller Keyboard have pots that stop at each end. They are not continuous.

Q: 6. Can I integrate this in home studio based on a Mac Mini m2(2023 NOT Pro), which I intend to use with Apollo solo thunderbolt?

A: Yes, the M-Audio Oxygen Pro 25-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller is compatible with the operating system on a Mac Mini M2 model.

Q: 7. are they full sized keys?

A: Yes they are full size keys.

Q: 8. With the 49 key, I want to program the first 10 keys as shortcuts in Musescore, so I'm wondering if there is there a way to acces an octave below or up?

A: There are octave up and octave down buttons that will shift the keyboard one, two or three octaves lower and one, two, three or four octaves higher. Here is a link to the user manual - see page 5 for the information regarding octaves and transposing: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/617697.pdf

Q: 9. Does it supports ableton live 10 ?

A: Nektar DAW Integration for the Impact GXP88 does not currently support Ableton, but it can be used as a simple control surface for Ableton Live 10.

[9.5 lb] This little guy is light-weight but feels sturdy. It comes with software that auto-maps the encoders and transport buttons for several DAWs. Also, it is powered by the USB connection, so no need for external power supply

[USB Bus Power] Very impressive keyboard controller for the price. I'm using it with Reaper and with the included Bitwig 8-Track and it works seamlessly with both DAWs for me on Windows 10. Good keys and great pads. Also impressed so far with Bitwig - the included copy is limited to 8 tracks but includes 3 instruments and tons of effects. Quite nice. This is my first Nektar product so I can't speak to long-term durability but out of the box its a hit.

[USB Bus Power] This is a correction of my initial review. The pedal jack is MIDI assignable, which confused me to believe it could be configured as expression via MIDI, but sadly is not. Is a simple TS jack. For expression, you need a TRS jack (tip, ring, sleeve). But is nothing that takes away from this awesome keyboard. Still I believe is one of the best values under 100$. The key action is great, and very soft for fast riffs. I'll need to find a way to fit my second expression pedal in my rig.

[9.5 lb] They look awesome. But more importantly the rock. The sound is crisp and true. They are small but they pack a punch. There are multiple ways to hook them up and they come with a nice set of XLR cables. I have nothing negative to say about these speakers

[9.5 lb] This is one of those devices that is necessary to a small editing suite. The only problem is that it has so many features that you probably won’t use most of them. It has been great to use so far. Good feel to the keys. Simple to set up and plug into a program like garage band. I highly recommend it.

[USB Bus Power] I bought this controller to replace my LX mini which was ok for its sit and controlling features but a hassle to cover 3and 4 octaves . The 49 is great for controlling Studio One 6 pro i. It’s layers of control are well thought out and the footprint is 31.5 long so not bad. I like that I don’t have to press the octave button 3 or 4 times to use the full range of some of my Instrument Libraries. I am not a keyboard player and use this for writing and controlling software and it does that very well. The keyboard bed is better than the mini but still not on par with my Roland A500 Pro but like I said I don’t play keyboard well and the 49 is good enough for me and not bad.

[9.5 lb] Bought this for my daughter, who has played for 5-6 years, and been doing composition for a couple of years. Great keyboard for her. She likes how the keyboard feels. She got started using the keyboard right away, and enjoyed it a lot.

[9.5 lb] I was looking for a synth action controller to replace my old Korg Wavestation, which is, in my opinion, the best synth action ever. Is not for everyone, though, since is so light, you can fly on lead passages, but is not very comfortable for pianos or organs. But the problem is that, since is a fully fledged synth, is big and heavy. Not really practical to move it around gigs. Anyway, to my amazement, the Nektar action is so light and smooth, not at all plasticky or spongy as many other controllers I've tried, that I can now put my trusty to Wavestation rest. As a plus, is very light and small overall, as much as I can fit both my main controller (M-Audio Code 61) and the Nektar on the same SKB hard case, how convenient is that? Build quality is top notch. Can't talk about long term, since I've only used it for a few weeks, but looks and feels very well built, it doesn't squeak when squeezed, buttons and dials are great and responsive, configuring it is a breeze, and it does have a multi function plug for either a sustain or expression pedal. That is very nice to me, since I'll be adding another expression pedal to control my left hand, while I use the other for the left. In a nutshell, I believe the Nektar GX49 is without doubt the best sub 100$ 49 key controller in the market.
