This 2-stop, 7.9 x 10.2" FotodioX Hard-Edge Graduated ND Filter 7.9x10.2 2-Stopis designed for use with the WonderPana 80 and FreeArc XL filter holder systems. It helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image, making a useful filter for photographing landscapes with sky and and horizon. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a hard-edged line of transition is particularly useful for images that feature horizons, or any hard transition between the sky and land. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and this filter provides up to a 2-stop reduction in light from entering a lens. This filter is made of durable, CR39 optical resin and measures 4mm thick. A carrying pouch is also included with the filter.

Q: 1. Will I get vignetting with this filter on a Zeiss 21mm/2.8 ZE lens? Thanks!

A: That lens is just on a full frame camera might give you a tiny bit of vignette. It is on the very edge.I would suggest getting one that is for wide lenses like this,B+W 82mm #102 Neutral Density (ND) 0.6 Multi-Coated (MC) Extra Wide Glass FilterB&H # BW102MC82EW Mfr # 66-1070601http://bhpho.to/1oDK7Mh

Q: 2. Can the frame be removed for it to fit in another brand filter holder? I currently have Lee system. If so, could it be reinstalled at a future date if needed?

A: The K series holder can fit other brands of filters that are 100mm wide and 2mm thick.

Q: 3. has anyone out there used this on the nikor 14-24mm and how did they find it worked?

A: The Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 does not have filter threads, and this filter will not be compatible with that lens.

Q: 4. does this work on this system http://nikonrumors.com/2013/09/07/fotodiox-wonderpana-145-adapter-kit-for-the-nikon-14-24mm-f2-8-lens-review.aspx/and has anyone used it and liked the results??? susan

A: Yes, the FotodioX 145mm Pro Ultra Slim Neutral Density Filter is compatible with the Wonderpana 145 Adapter Kit for the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8. Unfortunately, no one has reviewed this combination on our website.

Q: 5. Is this filter too dark to focus / compose with the filter already mounted?

A: It depends of course on the amount of ambient lighting in your shot. My work flow is to focus first, shoot to check focus, exposure, and composition. You really need to see the image properly expose before adding the filter. Then I shoot a few images with various shutter speeds with the filter on. Eventually you will become intuitive about your exposure times.

Q: 6. Does this filter come in a metal case similar to the 150mm Lee filters?

A: The NiSi Explorer Collection 150x170mm Nano IR Medium Graduated 3-Stop ND Filter only comes with a soft case.

Q: 7. What lens caps fit?

A: this should work , ZEISS 86mm Front Lens Cap B&H # ZEFLC86

Q: 8. will I be able to use the hood on my 35mm 1.2 voightlander with this filter?

A: I have this filter in 49mm on a Pentax FA 43 and I am able to screw on a B+W metal hood with no problem.

Q: 9. Does it have a front filter thread to stack another filter?

A: Yes the Hoya 77mm ND (NDX8) 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) has 77mm front threads so you can stack additional filters.

Q: 10. How is the image quality of this filter glass in comparison to LEE filter glass?

A: The image quality of the FotodioX 186mm Slim ND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) is neutral, and will not get in the way of the sharpness or colorization of the lens it is mounted to. The Lee filters are not available in a circular 186mm.

[11 x 9.5 x 0.9"] This Lee nd grad is just amazing. I use it in almost all my landscape shot since I bought it. It has the same optical performance of a singh-ray filter while it is much cheaper! Best use with Lee standard holder.

[11 x 9.5 x 0.9"] It darkened the sky nicely in my test shots. I could not detect any loss of image quality or sharpness caused by shooting through the filter. It made the sky appear to be a deeper blue and gave more contrast to the clouds. Cokin filters worked for me back in the Kodachrome era, and are still a viable choice in the digital age.

[Rigid Plastic] Like other reviewrs I have a Nikon 14-24mm f2.8G and the Fotodiox WonderPana Kit. The filter itself appears to be well made, comes in a nice protective case and it slides smoothly in the bracket. I haven't yet used the filter so I can't if it is truely neutral in color cast but many of the best ND's aren't totally neutral. I expect this filter will work very well when I need it.

[11 x 9.5 x 0.9"] I use the products when photographing landscapes to greatly improve the exposure balance between earth and sky. The gradation ensure that it easy to correctly expose the land without blowing-out the sky - greatly improving the look of the shot far better than post processing in Lightroom or Photoshop can. Well worth the slight extra effort invovlved!

[0.55 lb] As soon as I received this filter I went out and used it. I've been working on shooting the storms here in South Florida and using the storms as the backdrop for some ominous looking photos of the older construction in the area. The filter gave me the exact effect I was looking for. It made the shots easier. It's a great filter to have in the bag.
