Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the lens cap fit when using this filter with the Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3 Di VC USD (for Nikon)? is the multi-coating on both sides of the glass? would you purchase again?

A: My filter is used on the Sigma 150-600, but it should work the same on Tamron, and yes, the lens cap does fit. Not sure if the coating is both sides or not, but I have had no problems at all with flare, ghosting, or sharpness degradation. Seems like an excellent product and I would buy again.

Q: 2. Would you be able to put a lens cap over top of this filter?

A: Yes

Q: 3. Does this filter have threads for stacking additional filters?

A: Yes. This filter has from threads and can be stacked with other filters.

Q: 4. Will this fit the .5mm thread of the Fed3 rangefinder camera?

A: It will fit any lens that has a 40.5mm filter thread.

Q: 5. Would this fit a Fuji X10?

A: Yes, this Hoya 40.5mm HMC UV Filter can fit the Fujifilm X10.

Q: 6. As of SEPTEMBER 2021, Is this filter STILL made in Japan?

A: The Hoya 77mm UV (C) Haze MC filter is made in the Philippines.

Q: 7. I want to know the difference between the UV (c) and the UV alpha fitlerhttp://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/900341-REG/Hoya_calp77uv_77mm_Alpha_UV_Filter.html

A: The Alpha version is a standard type of UV filter, the C version is a thinner version with shallower filter threads. This version is popular on wider lenses where vignetting can be a potential issue.

Q: 8. Does the filter come with a hard case or a soft case?

A: It comes in a hard case. I've had it a couple of weeks and it is doing a great job.

Q: 9. what does the (c) mean?

A: The 'C' is a designation for the optical glass used in this filter. It denotes glass that has the UV properties in the glass itself, not just in the multi-coatings.

Q: 10. Is this filter multi coated on BOTH sides?

A: Yes, Hoya coats both sides of the glass for a clean multi-coated filter.

[Multi Coated] Since I live in the mountains at 7,000 ft elevation, the UV us quite strong as is the blue light. This filter helps to reduce that blue tint and give a very slightly warming effect.

[Multi Coated] Works well to protect the lens. I had one prior to this one and broke when the lens dropped, save the lens, cheap insurance! Images are still crisp and clear. Tonal change is pleasing but very slight compared to without the filter.

[0.08 lb] Quality filter. Used for outdoor photography. No problems with vignetting. Overall, I've decided I like the UV filters the most. The Pro 1, has the knurled edge, which makes it a little easier to get on and off. Thin profile not a deal breaker when it comes to purchasing the HMC filter. (Basically, thin profile of the Pro 1, hasn't come into play.)
