Bright-eyed and wide-angled, the Nikon F-mount ZEISS Otus ZF.2 4-Lens Bundle for Nikon Fis an optically-refined prime poised to deliver a high degree of resolution and clarity in nearly any shooting condition. Featuring an apochromatic design, and utilizing the Distagon concept to reduce distortion, this lens uses a series of eight anomalous partial dispersion glass elements and two aspherical elements to virtually eliminate chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the aperture range. A floating elements system is also used for consistent performance throughout the focusing range and a ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating suppresses lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity. Equaling the optical prowess of a Strigidae-inspired lens, the Otus 28mm f/1.4 is also characterized by a robust physical design for intuitive, exacting handling.

The wide-angle focal length pairs with the bright f/1.4 maximum aperture to suit working in broad variety of lighting conditions and is well-suited to a range of applications, including landscape, architecture, and interior photography. Accentuating the range of control, this manual focus lens is complemented by haptic design elements, including a rubberized focus ring and an all-metal lens barrel with high-visibility yellow scale markings.

Wide-angle prime is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 42mm equivalent focal length.

Impressively bright f/1.4 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in low-light conditions and also provides greater control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.

Distagon optical concept affords high sharpness, well-corrected image quality from edge-to-edge, and very low field curvature.

Apochromatic optical design utilizes eight anomalous partial dispersion elements to significantly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased clarity and color fidelity.

Two aspherical elements control distortion and spherical aberrations in order to produce greater sharpness and more accurate rendering.

ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections and provide greater contrast and color fidelity.

Floating elements system helps to maintain consistent image quality throughout the entire focusing range, from 11.8" to infinity.

Manual focus design is benefitted by focusing and depth of field scales, which are filled with a high-visibility yellow paint, along with hard stops at both infinity and minimum focusing positions.

All-metal lens barrel has a frosted, anodized surface along with a rubberized focusing ring for both durability and improved tactile control.

[95 mm (Front)] I'm primarily a portrait person and I own an assorted number of Canon lenses. For portrait use, I primarily use the Canon 85 f1.2, 24-70 f2.8ii, 70-200mm f2.8 IS ii and others. I also have exotic varieties like this Otus 85, and Otus 55 and the Canon 200mm f2. The Otus 55 is EXCELLENT for location portrait work where one wants to incorporate more of the environment into the composition. The Canon 200mm f2 creates beautiful bokeh and subject isolation (however it's rather heavy to wield). I rank the Otus 85 to the king of them all. What they say about the Zeiss Otus pop is definitely true. I only see this kind of pop in my Otus 55 and 85, and it's not even there in the 200mm f2. Perhaps my photo editing skills are lacking, but I don't see how I can easily manipulate my non-Otus photos to have that Zeiss pop. The obvious challenge of using this lens is manual focus. Unfortunately, I do find my Canon 5DS to be quite difficult to use in this department. The focus dot on the bottom of the viewfinder is often inaccurate, especially when you shoot at f1.4 (who buys an Otus an not shoot at f1.4?). I've recently found that using the Sony A7riii with the Metabones V adapter with this Otus 85 to be the dream combo. The EVF on the Sony really, really, really makes manual focus much easier on this lens!

[f/16] After getting this lens I decided to really put it to the test, I photographed a mountain side with a 200 mm L series Canon lens then I photographed the same mountain side with the Zeiss Otus 85mm.
I then cropped and enlarged it to match the frame composition of the 200mm and the zeiss image was still a little sharper and had better color! Now I'm a believer!

[28mm] One of the best lenses in my kit along with my Zeiss Otus 55mm and my Zeiss Otus 28mm lenses.

[0.18x] Best optics available for a full-frame sensor.

Highly corrected.

With current state-of-the-art sensors can challenge medium format systems.

[95 mm (Front)] This is got to be the best lens of all lenses that I have ever used. It is so responsive and tack sharp. It has the most amazing color and almost impossible to have a bad picture at avery turn. I used Nikon D800E and I think it uses the sensor's maximum capability. I know it's expensive but I can't see settling for anything less. Zeiss Really is a high class lens.

[Manual Focus] I have used zeiss lenses on my nikon d810 and d850 for several years. I love the color depth these lenses give and the sharpness. Now, with the z mount being nikons new standard, I hesitated to buy an f mount lens The manual focus is so much easier now on the z7ii camera that it encouraged me to consider this lens when it went on sale for the holidays. I love the new z mount lenses. Their sharpness is superb, but I always have preferred the subtle colors and smooth transition to out of focus of the zeiss lenses. The Otus 100mm lens is the best lens I own and I'm including the other Otus lenses when I say that. The 100mm Otus is slightly sharper than the 85mm Otus and I love the 100mm bokeh because of it's longer focal length. Either is fantastic depending on the subject. The 100mm Otus lens is easy to focus handheld using live view magnification and focus peaking. Not fast, it does take some time, but accurate so I don't use it on moving kids. The colors are richer and the lens is sharper than my nikon 105 f1.4 which is a great lens. I've not used the sigma 105 art, but when I saw reviews where the same subjects were photographed with the sigma, the nikon, and zeiss 105 and 100mm lenses respectively, I preferred the zeiss for overall rendering of the images. I think part of it is taste. The sigma give a crisp looking very sharp image and it nails the sharpness. The nikon is lighter and has excellent image quality, but not quite as good as the Zeiss. The Zeiss is sharp, but it has more nuances of color. The image on the left is f3.2 and on the right f2.0

[Manual Focus] I bought a used version of this lens in used, but mint, condition. It is a "big chunk of glass" as my adult son pointed out.
This lens allows you to shoot subjects that you wouldn't normally shoot. It turns the mundane into exciting! When I edit images from this beast and zoom in, it's like I found a new photo! I use it with a Canon 5DS r, on a tripod, at ISO 50.
I'll capture several frames of the same subject but refocus each time, to hopefully get the focus correct.
I've also just started exploring focus stacking and this lens is perfect for that.
I come from the 4x5 world and this lens compares optically to my Schneider Kreuznach lenses.
I just wish that I could tilt the Otus!

[Nikon F] I love this lens, it is tac sharp, gorgeous and the best 100mm you can find for a full frame 35mm camera. I love the Otus line and have no real complaints.

Something to consider however, is the size and weight of this lens. I personally don't like using this lens handheld. First off, I usually shoot locked down, so that's my go-to anyway. But secondly, the weight of this lens combined with it being manual focus makes hand-held shooting a little clumsy in my opinion. But if you're going to be on a tripod or camera stand, this lens is truly a great choice. If you want something a bit lighter and are willing to sacrifice a tiny bit of speed, I also HIGHLY recommend the Zeiss Milvus 100mm F2 macro. The quality is fairly close to the Otus line, but much smaller and with a more approachable price point.
