The Tiffen 3x3" CC20R Red Filter for Photographyis a color compensating (or color correction) filter for use when making color balance adjustments. It can be used to alter the color balance of a scene by placing in front of a light source or the lens of your camera. It can also be used to apply color corrections when used in the darkroom with an enlarger or to help pre-visualize color adjustments when viewing prints.

Red is the opposite of cyan and can be used to reduce cyan tones or casts within a scene or print. This red CC20 is more dense than a CC10 filter and less dense than a CC30 filter, and requires a 0.3 stop compensation for normal exposure results.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 3 x 3" / 76.2 x 76.2mm.

Q: 1. Does this filter have threads on the front ring so that you can add another filter?

A: Yes.

Q: 2. What are the rings made of?

A: I would say light weight metal. Not 100% sure. Very nice filters. I have 6 of them.

A: Yes, the following unit adapts to Bay 1 and 32 mm filters

Q: 4. What is the difference between this lens filter & the Formatt Hitech Ultra version? [Formatt Hitech 77mm Firecrest Ultra ND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop)] Thanks.

A: The Ultra Firecrest series filters exhibit greater clarity and have lower reflectivity than the original Firecrest filters. Borrowing from the range of Firecrest cine filters, the Ultra series filters undergo a secondary lapping and polishing process after the initial polishing and bonding stage. This additional step helps to ensure flatness and consistency for improved image quality.

A: Yes this is the correct size.

Q: 6. Does this filter fit Cokin P holder?

Q: 9. Will this filter fit inside the Wine Country Camera 150 mm x 150 mm filter vault? I see the Formatt Hitech is 4 mm thick. I think the Wine Country Blackstone filters are 2mm thick but I can find no information to verify this.

A: The Wine Country filter holders have 2mm slots, so that filter is not compatible.

Q: 10. I'm new to square filter systems. Being 85mm is this compatible with the Cokin P holder?

A: Yes, the Formatt Hitech 85 x 85mm Firecrest ND 4.8 Filter would be compatible for use with the Cokin P-series filter holder.

[0.24 lb] this filter is quite a nice surprise. I mainly bought it to use with a full spectrum digital camera for IR. Many times the full 25 Red is too much of an effect and I wanted something more on par with the density of a standard orange filter but red. The 23A is exactly that.

[0.24 lb] It's hard to find photographic equipment for non - digital cameras. Local stores didn't have it, and Amazon wasn't quite what I wanted. This red filter is what I wanted.
