Celestron Astro Fi 130mm f/5 Reflector Telescopeutilizes an integrated antenna to emit a local WiFi signal so you can control the mount via Android and iOS smartphones and tablets running their free SkyPortal app.

Optically, the scope sports a large 130mm aperture and a short 650mm focal length to produce a fast focal ratio that can resolve deep sky objects that smaller refractor-style scopes cannot, such as splitting binary stars or separating star clusters. With highly-reflective aluminum and SiO2 (quartz) mirror coatings, light loss is limited so you can make detailed observations of the Moon, view planets and distant nebulae, and get great wide-field views of the sky for comet watching and asteroid hunting. This complete observation rig includes the optical tube assembly, a motorized mount, an aluminum tripod, two eyepieces, and a red-dot finder.

The OTA is mounted on a single-arm motorized alt-az mount. Guiding the mount is the SkyPortal app. Packed with over 120,000 objects it is designed to help users set up quickly and start observing faster. The app offers align aids, can automatically find objects in the night sky; and even offers guided tours of the most interesting objects overhead on any given night. The mount runs on eight user-supplied AA batteries, and the entire rig assembles and breaks down without the need for tools so set up is easy and you can start observing sooner.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What kind of a tripod do you use?

A: A suitable tripod is included.

Q: 2. I have a nikon D750, what accessories would i need to connect this to my camera?

A: You need a T-connector mount and a Nikon compatible T-connector ring. I bought both through B&H. The camera needs to be put in Manual mode. The Newtonian reflector needs a focusing Lens of some type. This can be accomplished using the 10mm lens inserted into the T-connector. Some fellow put detailed step by step instructions on the Amazon website how to do this. I suggest that you Google the phrase Celestron Astromaster 130mm EQ will not focus with Nikon camera and you should get to this procedure. I followed it and it works.

Q: 3. Automatic alignment seems to be a great feature. Does the scope have the ability to track objects as I am viewing them?

A: Yes

Q: 4. Can it be adapted to photograph with a Canon powershot sx530 hs? I want to make sure before purchasing.

A: Unfortunately no, the SX530 lens is too long to be adapted to a telescope. It is better to adapt a lens with little or no zoom such as a smart phone and this adapter: https://bhpho.to/3rWspcT

Q: 5. I have a Canon Rebel T3i what would I need to buy to make it compatible with this telescope?

A: All you will need is 2 Adapters. The first is the Celestron SLR (35mm OR Digital) Camera Adapter for All Refractor and Reflector Telescopes which Accept 1.25" Eyepieces - Requires Camera-Specific T-Mount Adapter. Then the Vello T-Mount Lens to Canon EF/EF-S-Mount Camera Lens Adapter. Link to Adapter 1: https://bhpho.to/3or5zHH Link to Adapter 2: https://bhpho.to/39h8nAK

Q: 6. does Celestron AstroMaster 130 EQ have a parabolic mirror?

A: The AstroMaster 130EQ has a spherical mirror. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: 7. Can a dslr camera be attached to the celestron astromaster 130 eq?

A: Yes a DSLR can be. I would need to know exactly which DSLR you have to recommend the proper adapters.

Q: 8. Is there a rechargeable battery you can buy instead of using 8 AAs?

A: The Celestron Astro Fi 130mm f/5 Reflector Telescope BH #CEA130WIFIRF • MFR #22203 can only use AA alkaline or rechargeable AA batteries. It can also take an AC to DC converter. Celestron AC to DC Power Adapter BH #CEACDCPA • MFR #18778

Q: 9. So in the BOX these are included.StarPointer Finderscope20mm Eyepiece 1.25 (magnification 32.5x)Tripod and Accessory Tray2-Year WarrantyDoes it also come with 10MM EYEPIECE??

A: It comes with a 10mm and 20mm eyepiece. Plenty to start with. Once you get more advanced, I recommend purchasing an eye piece and filter kit with a Barlow lens.

Q: 10. Can an Olympus Tough TG-5 be adapted to the telescope?

A: Yes it can with the Konus Universal Digiscoping Adapter for Point-and-Shoot Cameras and Smartphones BH #KOUNVRSLADPT • MFR #1301 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1221463-REG/konus_1301_universal_digiscoping_adapter.html

[Yes] I have only setup a few times so far the setup is easy and I am learning the various aline techniques. The head tracks very nice for extended views. Nice packing and great service from B&H as always!

[1.25"] I have 2 other telescopes but this Celestron scope is my goto buddy, I can't imagine using another reflector scope as much as I use this one... perfectly priced & just so darn easy to use.If you're not convinced, please check out some of the awesome reviews and referral links.

[Aluminum] This is a great telescope that is easy to set up and take
care of. The planets (especially Jupiter and Saturn), look great in this. No mobile
device is required and one star alignment works great.

[650 mm] I just purchased my Celestron telescope. It was very easy to assemble and was able to successfully complete an alignment my first time out with it. The alignment directions are rather vague. I contacted the customer support and they were able to help answer my questions. I'm really enjoying the telescope!

[650 mm] This is the first telescope I have ever owned and I have tried it under different circumstances. At a place moderately effected by city lights during half moon, at a place with relatively lower light pollution with full moon shining, and in the middle of the city with Saturn in the view. As a beginner, I can say that the results are satisfying and the experience is full of new lessons and excitement. Even in the middle of the city, without aligning the telescope for tracking the targets, I was able to manually track Saturn at a magnification level of 160X using my smart phone and the views get better and better as you manage to run further away from the city lights. The tube is of average build quality with some problems on the collimation knobs of the primary and the secondary mirrors for the unit I had received. I fixed the secondary mirror issue by myself and B&H was very helpful for contacting Celestron about the bent primary mirror knob. Even more satisfying was the prompt response of Celestron by sending me a spare knob in less than a week for free. The tripod is sturdy and does the job. I suggest anyone with intention to have this telescope to buy a 12V rechargeable battery for a price of $15-25 with free shipping from China (or ebay). A 6800mAh battery will be probably more than you will need even for long nights of observation. Another issue is the eyepieces and the non-existing filters. For a more serious observation on the planets and the moon, the cheap Kellner eyepieces (10 and 25 mm) available in the box are not enough and you are going to aim for a moon filter (possibly with a transmission ratio of 25%). A 4 or 5 mm eyepiece or a Barlow of 2X might be good additions. In case one looks for improving the skills and also having some deep sky observation, the planetary filters and a T-ring with a corresponding adapter for a specific digital camera will be the next steps in my opinion.

[Yes] I got this for my wife, and did not take over by learning and doing everything to do with the telescope, leaving it to be here thing. So far, I haven't been shown anything cool with it, but she is happy with it.
Assembly was pretty quick, and it's apparently got several ways to get it calibrated on stars and up and running.

[f/5] Sometimes looses wifi connection. Other than this it's great. Easy to setup. Suggest to add Barlow lenses to your purchase.

[f/5] This was the first real telescope that I have purchased. So far I really love the thing. It is insanely easy to locate and find stars, even if you don not align it. The optics are clear and I would definitely recommended this to anyone seriously considering getting into astronomy. There are a few minor issues I did have, however. The tripod is good but does have small vibration problems and also the mount that grabs the tube itself is good but it can be difficult to determine if the tube is locked in place well. These setbacks are well worth the low price though.
