A: Hi Charles, please make sure that you align A to the aperture index on the lens. When you align A on the aperture scale to the aperture index, the camera is set to auto iris mode and the aperture is set by the camera. -Anthony

Q: 9. Eye Auto Focus is not working on this lens on Sony a6300 (tried all the AF modes). Can somebody confirm if Eye Autofocus is working with this lens on A7rii body?

A: Hi there, I own both Sony 6300 along with a7rII and on both cameras the 50mm 1.4 works great for the Eye Auto Focus setting. I'm not sure why you're having trouble with your 6300 but it might need a camera software update.

[72 mm (Front)] I've used some of the best 50mm lenses on the planet: Canon f1.2, Nikon f1.4, Panasonic Leica and Olympus Pro MFT lenses, and the 50mm Milvus on a D810. I was not prepared for how good the ZA 50/1.4 (on an A7RIII) is! Sharp (but not offensively so), great contrast and color, and bokeh. This is, to put it simply, the best 50mm lens I've ever used. I am sure the 55mm f1.8 is a very good lens, but if you've got the money to spend and aren't concerned about the seize and weight, then GET THIS LENS! (Actually, it's not really that big and heavy!) 5

[Sony E] 50mm is my favorite focal length and just like the 35mm, it's great for travel, street photography and portraits, but with better subject separation. The images I get from this lens is truly amazing with very good sharpness throughout the frame even when shot wide-open. CA is controlled well, distortion is almost non-existent and while there is obvious vignetting at f/1.4, it doesn't bother me at all and it's correctable in Lightroom. The build quality is amazing. I love the aperture control ring that Sony has been adding with their current lenses and the focusing ring is super smooth. Overall, if money is no object, and you're looking for a bokehlicious lens with excellent light-gathering capability, this is the way to go. Albeit it's more expensive and larger than the 55mm f/1.8, it's really the best native 50mm lens for the FE mount I have used to date. It's permanently affixed on to my A7II. 5

[Full-Frame] 50mm is my favorite focal length. It's very versatile and great for travel, street photography and portraits. The images I get from this lens is truly amazing with very good sharpness throughout the frame, especially the center, even when shot wide open. CA is controlled well, distortion is almost non-existent and while there is obvious vignetting at f/1.4, it doesn't bother because it's correctable in Lightroom. The build quality is amazing. I love the aperture control ring that Sony has been adding with their current lenses and the focusing ring is super smooth. The AF/MF switch is such a welcomed addition as well. Overall, if money is no object, and you're looking for a bokehlicious lens with excellent light-gathering capability, this is the way to go. Albeit it's more expensive and larger than both the 50mm f1.8 and 55mm f1.8, it's really the best native 50mm lens for the FE mount I have used to date. It's permanently affixed on to my A7II. 5

[Sony E] This is one of the most perfect, if not THE most perfect lens I've ever used. By any metric, it's just amazing. So sharp that my photos look like they came from a medium format camera. Wonderful contrast, color and 'pop.' Beautiful roll-off from the in focus areas to the out of focus ones. Virtually total lack of any chromatic aberration. And in terms of the industrial design, although it's a hefty lens, it feels nice in the hand and exudes quality. 5
